Speaking in Korean (feat. Claire)

One of my best friends in Korea is Claire; she’s funny, attractive, and only speaks Korean.

She always has something interesting to talk about, so I decided to film us talking in Korean, and brought along my camera and a few questions about food and traveling.

I meet Claire every time I visit Korea, and it’s always fun. We talked for around 10 minutes to make this video, then went out to eat together right after.

Learn Korean Ep. 72: 더니

This episode features my good friend Jinyoung. In fact, Keykat has wanted to meet Jinyoung for months, and during our last trip to Korea, she finally had a chance to visit.

I wasn’t able to join their visit, since I had things to do, but Keykat and Jinyoung both said they had a good time.

Remember that there are free PDFs available for every “Learn Korean” episode, and each contains additional information or examples not covered in the video.

What Are the Best Foods to Try in Korea?

Back in November when I visited Seoul I filmed 4 interview videos; this is the fourth and final of those videos.

This time I asked Koreans “What food would you recommend the highest (to a foreigner)?”

I got a lot of interesting replies. Check out what they said in the episode here.

5 Korean Words Every K-Drama Fan Should Know (DramaFever)

A few months ago I was contacted by the folks over at DramaFever.com to come up with a new video for DramaFever’s YouTube channel.

After a bit of planning and discussing, I decided to start a small side-series (separate from my regular weekly YouTube uploads) teaching Korean vocabulary words from K-drama.

This is the first video covering just a few simple Korean words that you might hear in K-dramas.

Learn about the words 오빠, 언니, , 누나, and 동생, and see some examples of their usage in Korean dramas.

Learn Korean Ep. 71: “Pretend to Do”

Keykat gets lost on the subway again. Maybe it was my fault, but I expected she’d be able to read the signs better. Who’s to blame me for that?

This week we have a new episode in the “Learn Korean” series, featuring a grammar form that I’ve wanted to cover for a long time – 척하다 “to pretend to do.”

Also make sure to check out the free PDF version of this episode.

Remember that there are free PDFs available for every “Learn Korean” episode, and each contains additional information or examples not covered in the video.

Download the audio content for "Korean Made Simple" for free!

Those of you who backed the original Kickstarter campaign for "Korean Made Simple" last year in February for the first book (and also the campaign for the sequel) know that one of my original goals was to create high quality audio files, recorded by native speakers, to go along with the lesson material. Even though we didn't reach the bonus goal to commission audio files, I've been hard at work doing them anyway.

Fast forward to last month... I began talking with my friend Jeremy from the YouTube channel MotivateKorean, and he was able to arrange native Korean speakers to help record the audio of the book. I couldn't have made the audio files if it weren't for him, and his two native speaking Korean acquaintances who took on the assignment. It's been a busy month planning, writing, recording, and editing these contents together, but it's also been a lot of fun.

Here's what you get:

Over an hour of Korean content from the books, recorded by native speakers.
Hangul practice sections (Korean Made Simple 1)

Introduction to Hangul
More Hangul
Introduction to Sound Changes

Every chapter conversation from both books (Korean Made Simple 1 & 2).

These audio files were made to be used together with "Korean Made Simple" 1 and 2.

The files have been carefully created to be used both while at home, and while out and about. You can listen to them while studying at your desk, commuting to work, or during exercise.

Special thanks to everyone once more who has supported me through this web site, my YouTube channel, and these books. I look forward to continue teaching and creating new lessons and videos.

What Are the Best Places to See in Korea?

During my last visit to Korea (in November) I took a day to roam the streets of Seoul, talking to Koreans about several topics. One of the things I asked was “What are the best places to see in Korea?” Everyone I talked to had some great recommendations, so I compiled them together into this video.

A few of the recommendations overlapped – some people agreed with each other. You can know that any of these places would be great for anyone to see who’s visiting Korea.
