~(으)되 “But” | Live Class Abridged
(으)되 is an advanced level verb ending that means “but,” but it doesn’t work like other forms which use (으) – it’s simply 되 after any verb stem, except verb stems that end with ㅆ or ㅄ (including past tense and ~겠다), and ~로되 after 이다 and 아니다.

THE BEST KOREAN MILK IS…
Which brand of milk is your favorite in Korea? Korea has dozens of different types of milk (like anywhere), but since Korea is relatively small it’s not too hard to purchase all of them from the store and try them… so that’s what we did!
We tried all of the major milk brands from Korea and did a blind taste test to see which one is the best.

Important Hanja: “Success” 성 (成) | Korean FAQ
The Hanja 성 (成) means “success” and is found in a ton of common Korean words – even ones you might not have realized. In this series I analyze different Hanja (Chinese characters) and break down their meanings and uses. I’m planning to keep making new episodes in this series in the future.

Easy Korean Speaking #4: “Where Should Someone Travel in Korea?”
I asked Koreans several questions related to traveling, such as how often they travel, where they visit, and where they’d recommend other people to go.
This series is about asking questions to Koreans, and letting them answer fully, and letting you hear what they say without much editing. I wanted to show off how Koreans actually speak, as well as what they think about everyday topics. Let me know what I should ask next!

~만 해도 “Even Just” | Live Class Abridged
In my most recent YouTube live stream I taught about the form ~만 해도, which is used to mean “even just” when adding emphasis to something such as when giving an explanation. I also taught the similar form ~만 하더라도. The entire class was over an hour, but the summarized version is only 7 minutes.

THE BEST KOREAN WATER IS…
Did you know that Korean has a lot of different water brands (local store brands, random brands from small stores, etc.), but just a few of them encompass practically ALL of the water you’re going to see? We gathered all of the famous water brands together and ranked them according to their taste, without being able to see the bottle or know anything beforehand. Which ones did we pick as the best? There was clearly one or two that ranked better than all the others.

Postpositions | Live Class Abridged
Postpositions (similar to prepositions) are words that are used to specify the location or time or relation of things, such as “above” or “inside” and others. But Korean postpositions work differently from prepositions, and not only in their position in the sentence. This is a fairly large topic due to the number of postpositions there are and how they can be used, but I did my best to summarize Sunday’s live stream into just 15 minutes.

He Had to SURVIVE 24 HOURS Speaking ONLY Korean!
Jeremy’s a beginner in Korean, but he can put together sentences and has been learning for a bit over a year. If Jeremy uses any Korean for the entire day, he has to eat a lemon. I made him ONLY speak Korean for the entire day, but he also had to complete a scavenger hunt and talk with lots of people. Do you want to try a challenge like this?

They FINALLY updated the most misused Korean word | Korean FAQ
The ~요/이요 ending that everyone uses – including myself and every other Korean teacher – was actually grammatically WRONG until very recently. Yes, I’m talking about adding ~요/이요 to the end of a word in a sentence to make it more polite. This is actually originally an incorrect usage of a different verb, and it took a long time to be updated. It was finally updated because while it was wrong, everyone was using it this way.

Easy Korean Speaking #3: “What Did You Eat Today?”
I asked Koreans what they eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and any snacks). This interview series I use as little editing as possible to show you actual, real Korean speaking, along with full subtitles for everything being said. This should help make it easier to follow along and pick up some new words and expressions, even if you’re a beginner.
