Korean FAQ – Object Marker for Locations (학교에 가다 vs 학교를 가다)
Here's a topic I don't see discussed much - when and how can the Object Marker (을/를) be used with locations?
We all know how the particles 에 or (으)로 are normally used to show where motion is going, and can mean "to." But did you know that the Object Marker can also have a similar usage? It does... but only in certain cases. While I don't recommend using the Object Marker to mark your locations when speaking Korean, there are a few cases where it's accepted and even common, and I'll show some of those in this video.
Since switching to two video uploads per week, I created this "Korean FAQ" series to be posted once a week as an additional supplement to your regular Korean studies. In the future I'd like to introduce more types of videos to upload each week, for more variety.
Your comments, feedback, and suggestions are always appreciated.

Learn Korean Ep. 102: Since doing (은/ㄴ지 되다)
Today's Episode: Jinyoung is still scared of Keykat, understandably after the last time they met. But can she avoid her and Billy at the arcade?
Hey everyone! 안녕! This is partially a beginner level lesson, but also an intermediate level lesson (sorta), and goes over a lot of information regarding how you can say "since doing." I wanted to cover this topic simply, so it took a while longer to make this video than I'd originally intended. If you have suggestions for future videos, be sure to let me know!
Remember that there are free extended PDFs available for every "Learn Korean" episode (at the bottom of each post) that contain additional information or examples not covered in the video. You can move through them at your own leisure, print them out and use them as a free workbook, or skim through them for a quick review before or after watching a "Learn Korean" lesson.
Check out the episode here!

Korean FAQ – How to Use 달라고 and 주라고
Every now and again I'm asked how to use 달라고 and 주라고.
There are already several explanations you can find if you search around, but I noticed some of them were a big vague or didn't get to the heart of the issue.
These Korean FAQ episodes are uploaded once every week, so if you have any questions of your own let me know~!

Korean Billy’s Tips for Learning Korean | A Glass with Billys
If you've ever searched for "Billy Korean" when trying to find my videos, you might've stumbled upon another channel called "Korean Billy." Actually, his channel is likely more popular than mine, because he's a Korean who teaches various British English dialects. His videos are also pretty funny.
I've followed his channel since it was new, and I thought it was interesting how he was not only able to learn English (impressive by itself) but also learn several different dialects, and teach those dialects. Fortunately he also heard about my channel, so we were able to meet up together in Seoul and chat.
Billy shared some of his personal tips for learning a foreign language, and we also talked about whether learning dialects helps with learning one's target language or not. If you haven't seen his videos already, definitely check them out too.

Korean FAQ – How to Pronounce ㄹ
The first video in my new series, "Korean FAQ." I'm going from one upload per week to TWO UPLOADS PER WEEK starting this week.
Feel free to ask me if you have any questions of your own. I'll try to make videos on all of the topics that I frequently get asked, so if multiple people request the same topic I'd like to cover it. These videos will be posted once a week for the time being. In the future I might change the series' format or do something else, but I'd like to keep doing two uploads per week because it ensures that I can always have at least one Korean lesson posted every week. Regular uploads will continue as usual.
For this first episode I'll talk about how to pronounce ㄹ. Is it an "R" or an "L" or something entirely different? I've been asked this question too many times to count (I've even taught how to pronounce it in another video along with some other letters), so I wanted to address it in detail in a separate video. Since this is a new series, let me know if you have any feedback or comments, or requests for future topics to cover. I've already filmed 5 episodes of this series, so whatever I get asked will be uploaded after those (about a month later).

Asking Koreans Their Favorite Korean Food
가장 좋아하는 음식이 뭐예요? What's your favorite food? I asked this question to a few dozen Koreans this summer and was surprised to hear so many of the "cliche" Korean foods I know. There's really a reason why those foods are mentioned so often, and it's because they're delicious.
What's your favorite Korean food? Mine is 순대, but a runner-up would be 갈비.

Korean School System + Renting School Uniforms | Glass with Billy
By now most of you probably know about my friend Jinyoung, since she's appeared in several videos over the past 4 years.
I've known about Hanbok rentals since I first visited Korea, but I never knew you could also rent school uniforms in Korea - until last year when I decided to search.
We found a place in Hongdae that had rentals, and it was easy to get to and fun to try. It definitely isn't something that most Koreans are aware of, and I can't imagine any tourists going there.
The total cost was about 30,000 for both of ours, since we returned it the same day. They also offer packages to rent them for several days, but we just wanted to take some fun photos with them.
It was my first time ever wearing any sort of school uniform (we don't really have them much in the US) and Jinyoung's first time since she graduated high school. It was a lot of fun, and I'd do it again. Thanks for coming along Jinyoung!

Hyunwoo’s Tips for Setting Language Goals [TTMIK] | Glass with Billy
Everyone has their own goals for learning Korean. Whenever I meet someone who tells me they're also learning Korean, the first thing I ask them is about their goals. Usually they'll either want to learn how to speak comfortably in the language, or just learn a few phrases to use with someone close to them. I think goals are important for learning languages, but some goals can be ineffective or even hurt your progress. Specifically I wanted to share my opinions together with Hyunwoo from "Talk To Me In Korean" and get his advice on setting goals.
Goals are an important topic that aren't often discussed when learning Korean, so I wanted to get to the bottom of it and hopefully learn something new in the process. And I did.
Why are you learning Korean? What are your goals?
Check out Hyunwoo at the “Talk To Me In Korean” YouTube channel.

Live Korean Classes + Membership Announcement
Thanks for being a follower of my content and Korean lessons. Today I have a special announcement, that I'll be starting live Korean classes on YouTube.
These will be completely free, interactive, and will be a chance for you to practice and ask questions about what you're learning.
My very first class will be this Saturday (late morning or early afternoon), but the date/time could change depending on what fits most people's schedules.
I've also begun channel memberships through YouTube. This is another way to support me (separate from Patreon or other methods) that's directly through YouTube. You'll get badges for your name, and special emotes that only members can use in the chat. You'll also get special member-only posts in the Community tab of my channel (outtakes, polls, and more content).
Memberships are completely optional, and just something I wanted to do because it goes together with live streams. Please note that you don't have to pay me anything at all. I already love what I do and will keep doing it. Memberships (as well as my Patreon page) are for people who want to support me monetarily, but just watching my videos and subscribing is also supporting me. I appreciate all of you.
Feel free to leave any questions or feedback here, or send me a message (on my Contact page).

Should You Get a Korean Tattoo? + Interview with Koreans
Over the past 5 years I've been asked over and over about helping people to decide their tattoos. Many people have wanted to get tattoos in Korean (in 한글) and have asked me for translations or advice. I wanted to answer some of those questions by making this video.
Actually, it might be a good idea to *not* get a tattoo in Korean if you're not committed to the idea. This is for several reasons, which I explain in the video, including them still not having the best image (although this is changing), being difficult to get, and the high chance that it won't look good or won't make sense. But if you still want to, I also outline a few tips for how to make sure your tattoo is as good as possible.
To finish this video I went on the streets and interviewed some Koreans to ask them what they think about tattoos. The question that I asked Koreans living in Seoul is this: “외국인이 한국어로 된 타투를 하면 어떨까요?” (“What do you think if a foreigner gets a Korean tattoo?”).
