Natural Beauty + Pangea Love

Natural Beauty + Pangea Love

In a few days  I’ll be turning 45 years old.

Usually numbers don’t phase me but 45…it hurts a little.

I usually get the “You look 28 years old.”

Not lately, though.   It’s more like “You look 35!”  I guess it’s better than looking 45? And what does 45 look like anyway?

I love to bring up , , , and , all turning 45  this year, too.  Great company to be in I must say.  So 45 is a-ok by me.

I totally agree with J-Lo’s beauty secret. Sleep is everything!

I always considered myself a natural beauty for the most part.  I don’t use foundation and a lot of makeup  (I don’t really know how~my 11 year old knows more about it than me!), I use soap on my face (I get muscle-tested at my favorite herb shop), and don’t buy tons of creams or beauty supplies. And if I buy a product, I get my phone out and scan it with to see if it’s safe.

I like to keep things as basic as possible.

It’s enough for me to shower each day (ha, and I’m not kidding about that!).

BUT (and it’s a big BUT), I am realizing that I need to do better with taking care of my skin.  Or at least incorporate a beauty routine that is free of crazy chemicals PLUS quick and easy to use.

My friend and fellow wellness coach, Ashley of treated me to  fabulous Organics products so I can get a jump-start on my skincare reboot.

Really quick, Pangea Organics is an eco-friendly company that goes by the motto:  “Nature has everything our skin and bodies need.”

These eco-friendly  products have and tons of healthy ingredients such as seaweed, gogi berries, and even adzuki beans.

Ashley sent me the most beautiful gift:  Skincare Discovery Kit

I got the dry to sensitive skin one because I used to have rosacea and I seem to always break out on my cheeks when trying something new.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1:  Facial Cleanser (made of  Calendula & Blood Orange):  I washed my face with this light, cleanser and immediately felt my skin perk up.

Step 2: Facial Scrub (made of geranium with adzuki beans and cranberry):  I loved this scrub! I felt the dead skin cells fall off and the scrub smelled delicious.  I felt so clean!

Step 3: Facial Toner (made of Rosemary & Sweet Orange):  I misted my face with the toner, and bam! It smells divine as well as brightened my skin.   I have been spritzing it randomly during the day (not sure if that is the drill but I love the calm it brings me not to mention a glow).

Step 4:  Facial Cream (made of Red Mandarin with Rose):  I used the cream by patting my face and neck.   It felt light as air. I’m really not into heavy creams so this one worked well for me. Although, within a few hours I have a few red blotches on my cheeks.  I typically don’t do well with moisturizers and creams on my face so I’m not surprised.

Step 5: Facial Mask (made of matcha tea, acai and gogi berry):   I will only use this once a week (as directed) but I did use it 2 days in a row during Spring Renewal because I loved how it made me feel; as if the toxins were sucked out and I was left with hydrated (and supple) skin.  Yahoo!

I really enjoyed the Pangea products, especially the lightness and the way my skin felt-CLEAN.  I’m in love with the mask and toner so those will be staples in my routine.  Fo’ sho’!  Looks like I have a new beauty routine!

Ashley and I are having a party, Tuesday, April 29th at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT to dish about what to eat to eliminate dark circles, get wrinkle-free skin, and an inner glow as well as give away amazing Pangea products like balancing oils, scrubs and masks. Oh how I love talking beauty!

Do you have a special beauty trick you can share?  Leave a comment below, and I will be sure to try it!

Three Kick-Butt Decluttering Remedies (healthy body and home)

Three Kick-Butt Decluttering Remedies (healthy body and home)

This is the first post for the  Spring Cleaning-Inside and Out series.

I’m gearing up for and couldn’t help but take a look around me.

Sure, I’ll be spring cleaning my body with fresh salads,  delightful soups, and sipping on smoothies as I clear the clutter, the extra fluff and heaviness, BUT I just can’t neglect my environment anymore.

I HAVE to pay attention to my home. It HAS to be done.  As I listen to my soul, if I keep ignoring and letting things go, I know I will keep myself stuck and hindering any rewards from my spring cleaning.

When I speak of spring cleaning, I simply mean, “Supporting your body while taking care of your truth.” Truth. It means something different to each and every one of us.

When it comes to tapping into our truth, things can get tricky when we try to lose those last 10 pounds or get back to exercising (or whatever your goal is to spring clean your body). As humans we gravitate to the latest quick-fix, some cookie-cutter diet. We want it fast, no waiting. And I’m no different. As I mentioned before, winter took a toll on me and I have a bit of roundness and fluff I would love disappear instantly.

But after years and years of the diets, the pushing, the striving, the making things happen (even if it wasn’t good for me), I realized that you do NEED a system, but it doesn’t have to be so rigid. And it takes time to hit your healthy sweet spot.

Plus if you don’t quiet your mind and listen to your body, you’ll have a long, long wait to really getting what you want AND finding the answer to what is really good for you.

, friend and former coach, said something that hit home for me.

“We tend to hide behind our food.”

It’s so true. Caffeine, sugar, all kinds of crap, clutter,  that keep us feeling numb and not connecting to our bodies, our truth.

Decluttering our bodies with detox will do the trick.

But what do we do about our surroundings?  If your kitchen is a mess, do you really want to go in there and cook?

So not only will we declutter our bodies with detox, we are going to declutter our homes, too.

Having clutter can:

• Make you feel tired and lethargic

• Keep you in the past

• Congest your body

• Affect your body weight

• Confuse you

• Affect the way people treat you

• Make you procrastinate

• Cause disharmony

• Make you feel ashamed

• Put your life on hold.

Clutter really can effect your life  so we need a few strategies to start clearing away.

We will use the bagua map (connects the design of your home with the blessings and treasures of life.

FRONT ENTRANCE

Let’s take a look at my home.

I was embarrassed to show you some of the mess, but I believe that my truth is to be imperfect as I used to try so hard at being perfect!   Such a work in progress for me!

With the help of Dana, client, friend and Feng Shui consultant, I find out  how to remedy a few clutter issues immediately.  And wouldn’t you know, I noticed the difference!

Let’s start with the leak in my ceiling.

Ugh, it’s been going on forever (months and months). I don’t even notice it because it’s so random, but I had no idea the issues it is causing in my life!

The leak was a part of the Health and Family  section of my house!

So just think, leaks are draining, disrupting healthy flow, vitality.

Water in feng shui represents two things:  (1) money and (2) your emotions. Very interesting about this link. It’s all about flow. If you have a dripping faucet or a leak in the ceiling that won’t subside, I learned quickly to get it fixed pronto! When you fix something in your home, you are fixing it in your life. You don’t want your money leaking out, do you? (Or your emotions for that matter!)

Remedy #1:  Fix the leak!  And I did. Unfortunately the plumber though it was coming from the upstairs toilet and the leak started again a few days ago.  He’s coming tomorrow so cross your fingers the leak will be fixed once and for all.

The leak can be connected to the body.  A lot of the times it’s not a certain food or unhealthy habit like late-night snacking that is bad, it’s the relationship you have with it.  So take a look at what is going on with your relationships, the emotions you are having and see if things are in sync.

For me, I realized in the past few months, I’ve been distant, not reaching out to family or friends, kinda hiding out.  I bet that leak has something to do with it!

Okay, ready to see all the crap in my foyer closet?

This is another section of the house I had to get decluttered a.s.a.p.  Dana said that you enter my home via the Helpful People + Travel section.  This represents synchronicity.  And boy oh boy, my closet was sure stopping any type of movement.

The clutter was in the spiritual part of my home. I was finding it hard to be purposeful with my actions, my intentions and blocking harmony with the Universe.  Plus this type of hidden clutter is so negative.

Remedy # 2:   Get rid of all the crap in your closets because there is no hiding!  Do some inner work with this.

As you clear out the closets (and even drawers, you know the one, that junk drawer in the kitchen!), contemplate what each item is “saying” to you.  Is it scolding you for gaining weight? Is it broken or torn?  These items can bring you down. So once you heard what they had to say, let them go.  Step fully into your power and let go of things (and people) who don’t have nice things to say. In doing so, you’ll see your self-esteem boost.

The last clutter item I want to show you is that “throw all kinds of sh** on the counter” happening in my kitchen.

We stack bills, kid’s papers from school, permission slips, and as you can see a little bit of everything on our corner hutch.  I noticed that I like to keep things pretty clean and clear on my kitchen counter tops  BUT the piling in one corner  is something I need to stop in order to move energy.

I think that these little piles, no one sees. BUT Dana pointed it out right away and the mess made her very sad.  My kitchen is in the Self-Help and Education section. Yikes! As well as a part of the Health section.

I was instructed to throw away all the items (except the cute handmade gifts from my kids), even the old printer, to make space  in my life for even more good stuff.  The piles of clutter weren’t allowing me to “be still.”  I meditate, but I’ve noticed an even more enhanced practice now that things are cleared away.

Dana also recommended painting that section of the room yellow to enhance vitality.

Remedy #3: Don’t pile things in one corner.  You can’t hide, especially things you don’t want to see or acknowledge.  Throw all old “things” away that don’t serve you and make space to just be still.

When you pay attention, you will unlock why everything you eat seems to make you feel bloated or that you can’t get motivated to get back to the gym.

There you have it, the 3 most kick-butt remedies to jump start your spring cleaning.  What will you start with in your home as you cleanse your body?

Oh, and you know something?

I found out a simple truth about me.  That I wasn’t truly paying attention to my life. I was good at the self-care with the body but wasn’t really LIVING a comfortable life in my home.  And this, I’m finding out, can really screw with body image, self-esteem and keeping focused. Not to mention feeling at ease.   I’m working on all this during the Spring Cleaning-Inside and Out series.  Come join me and  stay tuned!

*The next post in the Spring Cleaning-Inside and Out series, we are going to take a good look at the kitchen and provide even more life-changing remedies you can put to good use.

What do you say?

As always I love to get your thoughts so tell me one thing you would love to declutter from; it can be in your home or with your body. Share below in the comments.

Lean Up Detox Soup Recipe

Lean Up Detox Soup Recipe

The sun is shining! I feel warmth on my face. Vitamin D!

Oh, how I’ve been waiting for the weather to break.

Spring is here with all it’s lightness, green, and energy.

Spring is nature’s birthing season-the time of creation and development.

This is a good time to take a look at your life and make a new plan, especially when it comes to your health.

What do you want to clear out within yourself?  What do you wish to see happen this year?

This can be a new start. Take time to develop a new health or life plan, including your intentions; how you wish to feel, what you dream about, what makes your cells sing?

If you had a one-night-stand with your New Year’s Resolutions, it’s all good. Because you now have the energy of spring to spur on movement and get things done.

Our liver, the master metabolizer, rules the spring season. The liver is the root of life’s ultimate action. It filters the blood of toxins and breaks them down for elimination and is the seat of metabolism.

So it’s the perfect time of year to flush out the toxins and give your sweet liver a break.

To kick things off, why not make a meal that supports that liver of yours?

Make this ah-mazing tasting, body cleansing meal to celebrate spring.  The ingredients in Lean Up Soup keep the body clean and light. There will be nothing here causing congestion and heaviness.

Lean Up Soup

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp.  extra virgin olive oil

1 garlic clove, chopped

1/2  yellow onion, diced (1/4 cup)

1 inch of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped

2 cups fresh broccoli, chopped (or use frozen broccoli florets)

1 cup spinach

1 parsnip, peeled, cored, chopped

2 ribs of celery, chopped

1 Tbsp. fresh parsley

2 cups vegetable broth

Sea salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

1/2 lemon (or 1 Tbsp. lemon juice)

Directions: Heat oil over medium heat in large pot.  Add garlic, onion, and ginger and cook for 2 minutes.  Add the broccoli, spinach, parsnips, celery and parsley and cook for 5-7 minutes.

Add vegetable broth and reduce to medium-low heat.  Cover the pot and simmer for 10 minutes.

Puree the soup with a blender or food processor.

Pour soup into two bowls. Season with salt and pepper.  Squeeze lemon over the soup before serving. Serve.

Makes 2 servings.

Extra oomph:  Add 1 cup coconut milk to make it even creamier.

Doesn’t Lean Up Soup look divine?  Make it and let me know if you love it as much as I do!

What do you say?

Tell me, how do you reboot your body for spring?  Take a walk, get out of the house (wait, that would be me!), eat something green? Do tell!

Spring Slim-Down Plan

Spring Slim-Down Plan

You’re invited to my brand new webinar…

“Spring Slim-Down Plan:  10 Ways to Burn Fat, Energize, and Look Amazing with Detox. “

I believe wholeheartedly in enjoying your food. Even those guilty pleasures or indulgences.

But sometimes eating foods that give you pleasure that aren’t necessarily healthy for our body, can become a problem.

Habits form over time as we know.

Such as if you want to tighten up and feel fit again.  You make a plan. You set goals. And then you do things on a consistent basis like working out, eating light meals, avoiding processed fast food…

Do your thing over a long period of time, and you form a habit.

The same thing can happen with the indulgences.  Over time, the extra slice of pizza or bowl of ice cream after dinner or late night, watching TV with a bag of chips…those habits can form and be hard to break.  A lot of the times it has to deal with your emotions plus the extra sugary, fatty foods always seem to be addictive to our taste buds.

And I don’t know about you, but I can certainly say that when it’s cold, I tend to snack more and unconsciously reach for more comforting foods. I want to pick up my spirits as well so sometimes the kale salad doesn’t do the trick. But nachos, ah, yes.

Now that spring is here, there’s good news.  We’re ready to move, make changes, clean up.  The trick is to break free from the unhealthy habits formed the past few months (or years in some cases).

Spring Detox Salad

Spring Detox Salad

Here we are, the first day of  Spring.

Well, Mother Nature needs to get her sh** together I must say.

I’m still wearing my boots!

My feeling of winter is two-faced.

On one hand, it feels good to watch the soft quiet snow fall while you are cooking hearty warm soups, curling up on the couch with your spiced tea, and just having an excuse to stay in.

On the other hand, I’m so DONE.  So done with snow, wearing  boots (even though they are so cute, but I want to put on my wedges instead), piling on sweaters, and not seeing the sun.

Since the long winter has gotten me down-in-the-dumps, I decided to perk things up with a colorful salad and manifest my own spring energy.

I’m marking the new season even if the weather might disagree.

Spring Clean Salad is not only pretty, it’s delicious and packed with fat-burning nutrients like grapefruit and mint.  Plus it’s great for cleansing the liver which is uber important during spring.  The dark leafy kale, avocado, and the dill all support the liver and aid in the “spring cleaning” of our bodies.

Want to make it?  Sure, here’s how:

Spring Clean Salad

Ingredients:

Dressing:

3 Tbsp. lemon juice

1 tsp. Dijon mustard

1 tsp. chopped fresh mint

1 tsp. chopped fresh dill

3 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

1 bunch  kale, 2 cups (you can discard the ribs)

1 Tbsp. pine nuts

1 ruby red grapefruit, peeled and segments removed from membrane

1 avocado, pitted, peeled and cut into chunks

Sea salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Directions:

Combine lemon juice, mustard, mint and dill in a small jar, and shake well.

Add oil and shake well again.

Toss kale with 4 Tbsp. of dressing in bowl. Add pine nuts and toss to combine. Divide among 2 plates.

Heap grapefruit segments and avocado chunks on top of spinach, drizzle with remaining dressing. Season with salt and pepper. Serve.

Makes 2 servings.

*I like to toast the nuts for a little oomph of flavor.  Place nuts in skillet over medium-low heat for approximately 5 minutes or until you hear a “popping” sound.  Remove and pour over salads.

With each bite, invoke spring’s feeling of rebirth, creation and starting fresh.  I’m so ready for all that!

What do you say?

What do you like to do in order to celebrate spring and the new energy it brings? Plant herbs? Get your bike out of the garage? Slip on your open-toed wedges?  Share with me in the comments below.

Spring Renewal 10 Day Detox starts April 21st! Woo hoo!

Ultimate Plant-Based Nut-Free Milk Guide

Ultimate Plant-Based Nut-Free Milk Guide

What do you do if you don’t eat dairy and are allergic to nuts?
First of all, good for you about the dairy. We don’t need it.
As for the nuts, there’s tons of  plant-based, healthy nut-free ways to get your “milk.”

I typically use a lot of coconut and almond milk in my recipes since they are easy to find and taste great.

But I was reminded of the thing the other day when my gorgeous friend, sent me a note about rebooting her body for a Hawaii trip.  She delved into , excited and ready to go, but with one q:

I’m allergic to nuts (including coconut) so what are some good substitutes?

This is an extremely common question  so I’ve been working on an in-depth guide for you.  That way you don’t have to resort to some inflammatory milk (goats, cow’s, etc…)  for your oatmeal, smoothies, and even your soups.

Before you delve into the handy guide, I want to point out that it is best to make your own milks.  The reason is because you know exactly what ingredients you are using instead of reading a bunch of words on a label that you don’t know.  Plus homemade is always tastier  in my opinion.

It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it.  But no worries if you aren’t at that step  yet.  I have a list of safe on-the-shelf milks you can buy.

Okay, ready?  Here we go!

Here’s what I have on hand:

Vitamix (any blender will do but high-powered ones work best; I use the and find I hardly need the cheesecloth)

Cheesecloth (I have tons of scraps I cut up and keep in the kitchen. You can wash them and use them over and over).  To strain the milk, you need to pour a bunch of the milk in cheesecloth, twist the top and gently squeeze milk into a cup.

Glass jars to store milks (I love )

*All the milk recipes are . PLEASE use when you make the .

*You can add a little somethin’ somethin’ to your milks.  Try cinnamon, vanilla, cacao…just make sure all ingredients are organic.

*When using water, make sure it is pure, filtered water and not just from the tap.

*All recipes serve 1 and can be served chilled or at room temperature.

*Milks can be stored in fridge for up to 1 week.

Here’s the list of nut-free milks and recipes for homemade versions:

Oat

Make your own:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup gluten-free oats

2 cups water

Directions:  I like to toast my oats (5 minutes at 300 degrees F).  You don’t need to soak the oats even if using raw.

Blend the ingredients and strain through cheesecloth if needed.

Want to add a little somethin’ somethin’?  Vanilla extract and raw honey are best with oat milk.

Oats are found to lower cholesterol, have tons of fiber, and protein (appr. 7-9 grams per glass of milk).

Hemp

Make your own:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup raw

2 cups water

Directions:  You don’t need to soak the seeds, just blend ingredients together, strain through cheesecloth if you need to. Usually the seeds blend nicely.  Serve chilled.  If you have extra hemp seeds, store in fridge immediately as they can go rancid very fast.

Hemp milk has a buttery taste.

A little somethin’ somethin’:  cardamon and cacao go well with this milk.

Hemp protein contains all 21 amino acids which make it a complete protein.  It’s a superfood packed with tons of iron and omega-3.

Living Harvest and Pacifica are pretty good brands for if can’t go the homemade route.

Quinoa

Make your own:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup cooked quinoa

2 cups water

Directions:  It will be best to rinse then soak your quinoa for 8 hours. Quinoa contains a waxy protective coating called saponin which makes it difficult to digest unless rinsed off and soaked before cooking.   Blend ingredients together and strain through cheesecloth.

Quinoa milk has a grass-like flavor that does well with grade B maple syrup and cacao for a little somethin’ somethin’.

Loaded with tons of protein (a complete protein actually in the plant-world) is also high in magnesium.

Flax

Make your own:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup whole flax seeds

2 cups water

Directions:  Blend ingredients and use cheesecloth to strain the milk.

A little somethin’ somethin’:  cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract work well with flax milk

Flax is filled with anti-oxidants and omega 3 plus great for the heart.  Whole Foods 365 brand is recommended if you can’t go the homemade route.

Brown Rice

Make your own:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup cooked brown rice

2 cups water

Directions:  I prefer cooking the rice first then blending.  You will most likely need to strain through cheesecloth.  This milk is pretty creamy and mild flavored.

Want to add a little somethin’ somethin’?  A touch of sea salt and grade B maple syrup goes well with rice milk.

Brown rice is a great source of trace minerals like manganese, selenium and magnesium.

The next milks are seed-based. Many times if you are allergic to nuts you won’t have an allergic reaction to the following seeds BUT check with your doctor and get tested just in case.

 Sunflower Seeds

Make your own:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds

2 cups pure water (use coconut water for extra sweetness and electrolytes)

Directions:  I like to toast the seeds for an extra boost of flavor (5 minutes at 300 degrees F.) Blend together soaked or toasted and strain through cheesecloth.

Sunflower seed milk is mild and creamy.  Raw honey and vanilla extract work well for the extra somethin’ somethin’. Even a zest of orange can lighten up the milk.

Sunflowers have amazing amount of trace minerals (selenium and magnesium) as well as vitamin  E.

Pumpkin Seeds

Make your own:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup raw pumpkin seeds

2 cups water

Directions: I prefer to toast the seeds for a popcorn-like flavor (5 minutes at 350 degrees F).  Blend ingredients and strain through cheesecloth.

Pumpkin seed milk is rich, creamy and green (my favorite color!).

Add in a lime and some honey for a little somethin’ somethin’.

Pumpkin seeds are a great source of protein and essential minerals (zinc, copper, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, and iron).  Wonderful for digestion and research points out the seeds are good for easing anxiety.

Sesame Seeds

Make your own:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup raw sesame seeds

2 cups water

Directions:  Soak the seeds for 5-8 hours before blending.  Blend ingredients and strain through cheesecloth.

Sesame seed milk is creamy and rich.  A touch of cacao or honey will be delicious somethin’ somethin’s to add.

Sesame seeds have tons of calcium ( more than cow’s milk!), fiber, and tons of minerals such as copper, iron, manganese, magnesium, zinc and iron.

Last but not least, you can go for soy, but I’m not a big fan.

If you use it, possibly 2-3 times a week at most. Why? Soy is highly genetically modified in the US so you’re not really getting the high nutrient-dense, fermented soy as you would in a good miso or tempeh from the East. Plus soy is controversial with it’s link to thyroid issues, fibroids,  infertility, and yeast (yes, candida).

We often tend to over consume foods that our touted as health foods such as having tofu scramble for breakfast, a for lunch, and pad thai tofu for dinner all in one day (I’ve been guilty of this!).    Traditionally, Asian cultures eat no more than 2 tsp. of fermented soy a day which has shown to be health promoting but more than that shows to be problematic.

contain high levels of phytoestrogens that mimic the body’s natural estrogen hormones so if you’re already struggling to break down what you’re already producing, adding more to your system and making things worse.  So I advise avoiding if you can or using small amounts a week.

What do you say?
It’s your turn…what are some of your favorite plant-based nut-free milks? Tell me by leaving a comment below.

Love the nut-free milks? Try them in your smoothies by taking .

Win Winter Renewal 10 Day Detox!

Win Winter Renewal 10 Day Detox!

The other day I was being interviewed for a wellness  tele-summit series. A fellow health coach invited me to speak about health coaching, detox, juicing.   Then she asked me one, big, deep question at the end of our chat.

“If you had only ONE thing to tell everyone listening, only ONE idea that you would like us to take away from our chat, what would it be? What is the thread, the message of your work?”

Wow. Wasn’t expecting that.  So just started talking, and these words came out:

“After all of these years leading and participating in my , I’ve noticed something…I’m getting closer to the truth…my truth in regards to how I value and respect myself.
It’s overwhelming trying to overhaul your health all at once, so I’ve learned to take a piece of detox with me each time…as the clean, real food opens up channels in my cells, clears away the clutter, I become clear in my thinking and begin to notice the truth… how I treat myself, how I make choices, how I sometimes blame others when in fact, I need to take a good hard look at myself.
As you cleanse, you will open up, align, and finally live a life without struggle, without pain. “

Pretty deep, huh?

But it’s all true, and I stand by every word.

I’ve noticed firsthand how clear I’ve become each time I detox, and it’s still a process, a lifelong thing.

I’m not the only one. A lot of detox goddesses mention this very same thing; feeling aware, able to make healthier, happier choices without the clutter banging around in their minds.

Life takes you back and forth, but you keep moving forward especially if you pay attention.  And using food as a tool can really help unlock any emotional eating patterns, feeling stuck, so you can finally feel good in your skin; the ease, peace within yourself.

While detox gives so much in regards to losing weight, feeling light, having energy and focus (not to mention clear, glowy skin~ my favorite part!), the main thread, the main message of my detox programs, is TRUTH.

Nothing’s sexier, more radiant than someone living their truth.

Am I right?  You can totally tell when someone is walking the talk, doing what works for her and not anyone else.

When we mask our stress with random junk food eating or piling tons of food on our plates, we aren’t really getting to the truth.

What’s going on in your life?

What are you putting up with?

What do you tell yourself?

What are you ignoring?

Eating real, whole, clean food is a primary and necessary start to getting to the root of your intentions and finding a path that is true and pure without covering up or hiding.  That’s why detox can be so powerful.

So focusing on your truth…how you REALLY want to feel, can ease you into life-long habits.  Winter Renewal is the perfect way to set healthy intentions, get some habits in place, so you begin your journey.

No matter what your intentions are…

Lucky Bitch Interview: Cleansing Your Money

Lucky Bitch Interview: Cleansing Your Money

As I cleanse my body with healthy, whole foods, drink my juices and smoothies, and continue to clear up the clutter around my house, I realized that there is one aspect of life I sometimes forget to tackle.

Money. Money. Money.

Finances are known to cause extreme amounts of stress. You can eat all the kale in the world, but it won’t do any good if you are living paycheck to paycheck or have debt. The stress can weigh on you big time causing inflammation (which causes breakouts, weight gain, pain in your body, etc… you get the point).

Also worrying about money can keep you stuck when it comes to living the “clean life.”

Possibly not joining the gym because you’re concerned about the monthly payments or you don’t buy organic food and instead resort to fast food (gasp!) since it’s cheaper and easier to get $1 hamburgers with free fries.

To find out how to “cleanse” our money, I invited Denise Duffield-Thomas of Lucky Bitch to give us the whole story.

Denise chats with us about…

the health-money- abundance connection;

creative budgeting tips so you can enjoy a healthy lifestyle without breaking the bank; and

her top strategies on getting grips on your money so you can make space for a healthy life.

Denise takes us behind the scenes of her life in the raw food world, struggling to make ends meat but still trying to buy $10 coconuts to fit into the lifestyle she wanted.  She explains how to get out of the money-traps and find freedom and lifelong abundance.

Take a listen to our interview

I had so much fun talking with Denise…and she is about to become a first-time mama so wishing her lots of love (and hopefully some sleep!).

In the comments below, tell me.  Which which strategy will help you the most right now?

Denise is a money-mindset coach and author of Lucky Bitch and Get Rich, Lucky Bitch.  She helps women create outrageous success by overcoming money blocks so they can manifest their wildest dreams. I’ve known Denise for a few years now and had the pleasure of watching her do exactly that, live the life she dreams of.  Denise lives in Australia.  You can connect with Denise here: .

Love Fest Juice

Love Fest Juice

Juicy Self-Love

Self-love is probably the number one way of boosting your mood and honoring the relationship with your body.

I know that I get so busy, taking care of the kids, the house, and running my own business, I sometimes forget about me. Little ole’ me needs some lovin’ too.

To find love, you must first find it in yourself. Then the whole Universe will mirror it back.

There are tons of ways to love yourself up. You can get a massage, go shopping, read a book, take a short trip, hike in nature, or just soak in the tub with a glass of wine.

These all sound amazing, but let’s talk about another way to show your body some love.  Practice self-love with food.  And not just any food.

Dark leafy greens. (And you thought I would suggest chocolate!)

Spinach, kale, Swiss chard, collards…

These leafy greens will boost your mood, keep emotions steady, and ultimately heal you and the world around you.  As you eat more and more green goodness, your body will start to go through a transformation.  Your cells will begin to change, breathing in the oxygen from all those leafy greens, feeding your blood.

While this is happening, over time, you will notice that your behavior, thoughts and emotions will change.  As you pump your body with these whole foods, REAL foods, the more REAL you feel.  You start to feel more compassionate towards others, but best of all, you will be compassionate towards yourself.

It all starts with you.  Once you treat your body as a temple, a sacred home, your thoughts and actions will shift.  This shift will lead to healing and will foster self-love.

The fastest, easiest way to feed your blood with greens is by juicing.  By juicing, you are getting all the vital nutrients and minerals into your bloodstream within minutes. Keeping emotions level, your thoughts pure, and practicing self-love in the most basic way.

The first step is healing YOU.  As you start to change, your family and friends, see this change and often times mirror you.  Others around you take on your gentle demeanor; your kindness and love. This ripple effect can happen. I promise you.

Start with feeding your gorgeous body liquid nutrition.

It changes your cells, and your being which is a gentle way to connect to your body, soul, and to others.

Self-love in this form is life-changing.

Try this juice to boost mood, level out emotions, and to cleanse blood. Love Fest Juice  will have a gorgeous red hue.  Also the beets can help with sustainability (wink wink).

Love Fest Juice

Ingredients:

1 handful of spinach

1-2 celery stalks

2 beets (use the stem too)

1 pear, stem removed

½ lemon

1/4 inch ginger root

Run through a juicer, put in a pretty glass, and drink up.

Makes approximately 16 oz.

If you want to add in a daily dose of self-love, join !

You know, adding in one little healthy thing each day can help you connect to that gorgeous body of yours. You’ll notice less stress, glowing skin, a sparkle in your eye, and feeling lighter without even trying. How sweet is that? Let’s get ready for some self-lovin’!

If you are ready to start some healthy habits the easy way, The 7 Day Self-Love Challenge is perfect for you.  And the best part, it’s free.
