Daddy's Got A Brand New Daughter

Picture Been off here awhile now and received a couple emails wondering why...
Ladies and Gents, meet my newest daughter - Briar.
This second go around for the Galvin family hardly resembled the first experience. I dunno if this is a Dad/guy thing or no, but a chief concern of mine both pregnancies was highway traffic.
Cue eye rolls from the lady crowd.
While I'm confident the actor in me could have channeled Dr. McWhatever and helped my wife deliver a baby in our car if need be, I'm far more confide...

Tangled/Frozen Debate: The Results Are In!

Picture Some of you may recall there was a war of words between film critic Gene Gosewehr of Let There Be Movies (LTBM) and myself.
The stakes? Fatherly pride andbragging rights for the whole of time.
At long last...the results from our combined reader polls are in.
Who destroyed their opponent in an epic showdown of fatherly debate? Did your humble narrator help his nemesis see the light of Tangled, or did Gene turn my heart in the wake of a Frozen onslaught? Cue the music Pascal: AND AT L...

Hey, kid. Check out the papes!

Maybe it's my forever love of Newsies, but there's just something awesome about seeing your name in the paper. Big thanks again to Santiago Charter Middle School for inviting me to speak at their Career Day and also their amazing librarian for sending me the below picture. Picture

Career Day!

Wow. Somebody hasn't updated his blog in awhile huh?
That's because May was a writing month! Stoked for you all to see what's coming later this summer. In the meantime - Career Day! Picture This past Friday, I had the honor of speaking at Santiago Charter Middle School in Orange County. I love giving these talks to students. Their energy pumps me up and reminds me of just another reason why I write. Plus, it's always nice to step away from the Batcave and interact with some real people for a ch...

iFandoms Collide

Sooo for the past year I've heard about these awesome people called vloggers - (Yes, I'm super late to the party) - but I finallymet some a couple weeks back. Megan and Tatiana saw me at the LA Times Festival of Books and asked if I'd be interested in an impromptu interview.
Uh, yes please. :)
Hit the link to check out our video interview.
Oh, and see if you can count how many times I mentioned "dark". Oi.
Enjoy!

When you live a good life...

...good things happen.
I've heard my Papaw quote that phrase countless times over the years. Granted, he's usually talking about finding a good parking spot, (and he always finds one closest to the store no matter what time of day it is).
Still, I've adopted his way of thinking. It's never gotten me in trouble and almost always pans out well.
Just like *yesterday.
(*Okay, so technically "yesterday" was a couple weeks ago...read the post and you'll find out why I didn't post this until now. Heh....

Worthwhile?

This past week marks a year since I self-published my debut novel, Salted, whichinevitably led to me looking back on my first year in the publishing biz and wondering how I fared. Success is a relative term and though I've a long way to go before people recognize the titles of my books, least of all my name, I feel that I accomplished most of what I set out to do this year.
For the past couple months, I've been kicking around the idea of writing a number of blog posts about what I've learned...

L.A. Times Festival of Books - Recap

"Yes, dudes and dudettes, major league butt-kicking is back in town!" -Michelangelo
For those not clued into all things awesome, that's a quote from the originalTMNT. I saw a bunch of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gear this weekend and kept thinking about one of my fave movies whilst having a blast at this festival.
I'm still pretty wiped out from it all, but it's the kind of kid-tired where you just keep running around because you're down for the count once you stop moving. That said, I'm st...

L.A. Times Festival of Books!

Picture It's festival time, baby!
I've been looking forward to this event since I first learned about in September. This festival is the real deal, yo. They have over 150,000 book lovers attend each year! Better yet, it's free admission. So if you live in Southern Cali, swing on out this weekend and say hey!
Wondering who will be there? Say maybeLeVar Burton of Reading Rainbow, Roots, and Star Trek fame on Saturday @ 2:30 p.m. for an interview, or maybe you wanna attend the Malcolm Gladwell intervie...
