Fullerton FC: The Pride of the North
Stadium: Fullerton Park
Sponsors: BECKINGRIDGE FINANCIAL FIRM
The second UNIVERSITY team in the city, Fullerton claim supremacy over their rivals at KINGSGATE by their Sport Science program whose research has benefited larger teams such as COLDFORD CITY and ATHLETIC. Graduates of the sports science course include BUDDY OWEN, although some would argue this was not without his father, THE CAPPY’s, money and influence. The backing of his brother’s at KAPPA SO also helped.

As a football team Fullerton are quite consistent. They rarely manage to quash the big two but they keep their heads high and are a constant feature on the stages of the bigger competitions. The bridge on their badge is representative of the FULLERTON BRIDGE which connects the rich town of FILTON in the north to the rest of the city.

Our most notable supporter of Fullerton is the BOSS LADY herself. She may be Queen of the Shanties but her roots in Filton are never forgotten.

Character Profile: Agnes Wilde
Age: 51
Occupation: KNOCK KNOCK board member (BROKER)
Features in: KNOCK KNOCK
Agnes met the BARONESS back in the days when she was busking in the SHANTIES. They immediately took a shine to one another and they had a shared vision of a club for all, a place in the poorest part of town where people could leave their troubles at the door.
Running a place like the KNOCK KNOCK club is no easy task. Where TAWNY was the face the patrons recognised and adored, Agnes was the sensible head behind the scene that helped build the club into what it is.
Agnes is kind of face but sharp of tongue. She is a no nonsense woman who isn’t afraid of a challenge and boy does guiding her niece, TABITHA prove a challenge! Blood niece of Tawny, Agnes has taken on the mother role for Tabitha and whilst they share a mutual respect they often clash.
As our reporter SAM CRUSOW begins the telling of KNOCK KNOCK he will discover some interesting reveals from Agnes who has a unique perspective on the club, on the BARONESS, on the BOSS LADY and on the night the club was burned down.

A View From The Top
Earlier this week we told you that the BECKINGRIDGE financial firm holds the key to the funding of the Shady City. It is the cog that keeps the wheel spinning, the rich on top and the poor on bottom.
There was a little club in the Shanties called KNOCK KNOCK and boy did they create some noise. The elite of the north were almost deafened by it.
Volume 1 of the hit graphic novel series brings you the fall out. Volume 2 will be taking a look at the night benefactors started to leap from the roof of BECK Tower.
Hold onto your cash folks. It’s getting cold up in here. Did someone leave the roof door open?

Kingsgate Albion: The Best and Brightest
Stadium: Henning Park
Sponsors: WEIR HOTEL
In the upper east of the city lies the small suburb of Kingsgate. It is one of the oldest parts of Greater Coldford, built centuries before as a main route to the north from the CHAMBERLAIN DOCKS. It is home to Kingsgate University which boasts one of the best performing law schools in the known area. It is where JUDGE DOYLE learned her trade.
As a football team, Kingsgate are mid table performers. When they are underperforming they suffer bad but when they excel they can be unstoppable. They are unique in that their players are all students of the University’s sports management program. The players are contracted to Kingsgate to complete their training before heading off to pastures new. As one of two university towns in the city, Kingsgate are expected to provide the best and brightest new talent. Their great rivals, FILTON, will always be chomping at their heels.
Our most notable supporter of Kingsgate is music tutor, VINCENT. He was born and raised in the beautiful old town. Despite being on tour with his parents and their orchestra a lot as a child, Kingsgate was always home. Like most of the Kingsgate supporters he doesn’t seem much of a football fan on the surface but victory and sportsmanship is important to them. Despite being called to rival, Filton University, because of their superior music program, Vincent is loyal to his home town.

Cold Hard Cash
How much are you willing to invest in the running of the Shady City. The more money the BECKINGRIDGE empire holds on your behalf the more control you will have over the city. But what is the return?
We can trust CEO ERNEST. After all, each of his personal problems have become very public news. His wife accused of child murder (acquitted thank you!), his company funds embezzled (better background checks on staff please!) and his son kidnapped by the music tutor VINCENT (why was no one aware of Mr Baines’ issues?)
When money makes the world go round there are bound to be so many people clambering for the top all the time. It’s safer to be the central cog that keeps the whole thing spinning. That is of course until things start spinning out of control.
The Beckingridge family enlist the help of a music teacher to try and keep the out of control son, George, focused on something more positive.

The Tower of Industry
The tallest tower in City Main. The BECKINGRIDGE tower (sometimes referred to as Beck Tower) is the tallest building in City Main. It is home of the BECKINGRIDGE financial firm. The office in the penthouse suite is the working home of CEO ERNEST.
It has the financial hub of the city and how can a city function without cold hard cash? It puts a lot of responsibility on their shoulders of the CEO but it has been his family industry for generations so what other choice does he have?
It has withstood a lot of attacks over the years as an empire. It has waded through recession, through embezzlement and through the families personal problems but when the FREE FALL benefit is held at the tower and party guests start to leap inexplicably from the roof it may be the final nail in the financial giant’s coffin.
Ernest’s son and heir, George has been a complete handful lately and his mother is no longer around to help control him. In the hopes of giving him something more positive to focus on they bring in music tutor, Vincent.

Character Profile: Ernest Beckingridge
Character Profile: Ernest Beckingridge
Age: 57
Occupation: CEO Beckingridge Financial Firm
Features in: MAESTRO, KNOCK KNOCK
Ernest is at the helm of one of the biggest financial investment firms in the Shady City, he hails from the richest family in the area and he would give anything to be able to give it all up.
He is a mild mannered man who as a boy didn’t see himself imprisoned in a suit and shackled to the penthouse office of BECK TOWER. He wanted a different life. He wanted to be an entertainer but with there being only him and his sister, Elizabeth, it was up to him to take over the family empire whilst Elizabeth became a novelist.
Ernest later met and married Alice. She was seen as a dragon of a woman by most but the docile CEO needed her bite by his side. Together they had two children – Catherine and George. However, there was another addition to the family that the high ceilinged halls of Beckingridge Manor managed to conceal. They do say that behind MANSION WALLS are where the true skeletons lie, not in the closets.
Ernest has not had an easy time and despite being placid in nature his family name and his money has managed to help him weather some terrible storms. From the accusations of child murder against Alice, the embezzlement of company funds, the school shooting Catherine was involved in and the kidnapping of his son by music tutor VINCENT BAINES.
Now Ernest is brought to the forefront again when he receives a phone call late at night to inform him that benefactors of a charity ball being held at BECK TOWER have been leaping from the roof inexplicably. Could this be the final blow that finally topples one of Coldford’s largest empires?

10 things you (PROBABLY) didn’t know about MUSE¡
Spoilers are contained in here so click HERE to read MUSE before proceeding … Done that? Good, then let’s go …
1. THE ARTISTS VISION OF HIMSELF
We all know that an artist searches deep within themselves but original notes for MUSE showed that DAVID FINN and his inspiring MUSE JULIA were actually intended to be one in the same person.
Later drafts left behind the cross dressing and Fight Club inspired plot for the one that made it to the novel. We’re sure it could have made an exciting twist but we’re glad they were separated in order for them to individually impact the story.
2. BASED ON TRUE EVENTS
A lot of dramatic licence goes into thriller novels. However, the kidnapping of Gabrielle’s baby was actually based on a series of true crime documentaries VIVIKA had watched. Knowing that makes that scene all the more disturbing!
3. MAM IS A SYMBOL
Sheis never given a true name. David’s mother, only ever referred to as MAM, is a grotesquely obese, selfish monster. She stands as a symbol of the greed and lack of empathy that is all too prevalent in society today.
4. HARVESTER FARM
As a little girl, Vivika spent most summers on a farm. She learned a lot about the lifestyle and the general day to day work. It was this that inspired the setting of HARVESTER farm and no doubt gave it the realism found in the novel.
5. THAT WEIRD RELATIONSHIP THING
When introduced to WINSLOW it was obvious he had complete control over our farm girl. From telling her which body wash to use, what dresses to wear and informing him of her whereabouts at all times to her on her knees crawling to him delivering apples reminiscent of The Secretary. Yes, they are in a BDSM relationship but rather than Fifty Shades of Grey it is more Fifty Shades of WTF. Winslow holds Julia’s entire life in his hands and he is happy to exploit that.
6. WHO’S THE PAPPA?
Despite the reader being given a very gritty view of David’s childhood we are never given any clue as to who his father was. We can assume he was an absentee father or dead. Either way this information could be a potential plot thread to be picked up in the future.
7. NO DAVEY, NO!
Alex is as close to David as a brother. David was practically raised with Alex’s family so it only seems fitting that Alex is carrying the heart of David’s actual brother ADAM. They say all roads lead to the same place in the end and that end in this case is HARBOUR HOUSE!
8. THE HANDY HELPERS
Glenn was a stand out character for the readers. Some even argued that if there is to be future story he would be the weak link and the downfall of the HARVESTERS and the extra curricular activities they are up to on behalf of the despicable doctor.
Glenn is sweet natured, hard working and apart from being physically strong he probably isn’t really cut out for life in the Shady City. But the welfare of his little daughter keeps him plugging on no matter how difficult the tasks for the farm become.
Curtis on the other hand isn’t quite so picky. But even the foulest of us have our limits, right?
9. PENN AUCTION HOUSE
Yes they didn’t appear in person but the PENN triplets are a big feature in Muse. What might have been missed is that the youngest of the triplets, REGGIE, was a fan of David’s work and as the AUCTION HOUSE relies on his ability to spot the next best thing he is who David owes thanks to for his work being picked up.
MARCUS is mentioned by name and where there are the other two you will find SIMON close by.
10. PEEKABOO! MORE CROSS OVERS
Despite being stand alone stories, all VW thrillers and graphic novels are a shared universe so there are often cross overs. Incase you weren’t aware, in the closing chapter of MUSE, David is introduced to a musician named VINCENT. Yes most people have noticed that the MAESTRO himself has returned and could potentially be taking centre stage again in future novels.
Whilst Vincent was an obvious one, there was also an older woman in that same chapter who was stood by the window waiting for her niece. Vincent confirms her name is TAWNY and yes she is in fact the BARONESS of the KNOCK KNOCK CLUB and in order to find out the connection tune in for VOLUME 2 Coming this August.

Things I won’t apologise for.
With the tag #IRefuseToApologizeFor doing the rounds on TWITTER I thought I’d share some the things that I would never apologise for.
Sure we have all the usual ones:
Having an opinion
Sharing said opinion
Working hard
But when it comes down to the nitty gritty we need to ask ourselves what is really important.
We all vary on these things but for me the things that I will most definitely not apologise for are:
LOVING MY FAMILY
I am not a mother but I am incredibly close to my nieces and nephews and they are as good as my own BABIES. I will never be made to feel sorry for wanting to spend time with the most amazing little humans there is. (Some not so little – being taller than me!)
SHARING THE WORK OF RAGDOLLS UK
My newsfeed is inundated with stories of the charitable foundation set up to support girls and women with TURNERS SYNDROME. I will never apologise for letting it be known what they do and what help they require to go further.
BEING A THRILLER AUTHOR
I’ve had it all.
“You should write girly stories.”
“Why can’t you write something about nice?”
I’ve always had a morbid fascination with the darker side of humanity and no matter what horrific monsters you can dream up there are always real human people capable of worse atrocities with more despicable motives. So sue me!
If you are a fan of dark writing then welcome aboard the Widow Web.
BEING WHO I AM
This is a broad term really that covers a lot of things but to sum up here a few things I won’t change for anyone other than myself.
– I will not apologise for carrying too much weight. That is my problem and my health not anyone else’s.
– I will not apologise for any of the features that TURNER’S SYNDROME has given me.
– I will not become a person I am not. My personality perhaps doesn’t connect with everyone but hey, that’s life.
Anyway, what about you? What are some of the things you won’t apologise for? Let us know in the comments.
