The Sun Does Shine on Oprah's Super Soul Conversations

Here's a wonderful in-depth interview between Oprah Winfrey and Anthony Ray Hinton, in two parts on Super Soul Conversations. Well worth a long listen as the two discuss issues of importance: race, incarceration, the death penalty, the power of reading, faith, and sustaining hope.

The Sun Does Shine is the new Oprah Book Club Pick

Thrilling news for this inspiring, powerful, important book:

I am so proud to have worked on this book with Ray Hinton and hope the OBC selection will bring it to the front of our national conversations about race, wrongful incarceration, the death penalty, and the ongoing legacy of slavery. Beyond those issues, the book demonstrates how hope, friendship, faith, imagination, and reading can sustain a body and soul through the most difficult trials of life.

Points North by Howard Frank Mosher

What a privilege to attend one of the launch events for Points North, hosted by Thomas Christopher Greene at the Vermont College of Fine Arts and featuring readings from the book--and anecdotes about Howard--by Richard Russo, Chris Bohjalian, Garret Keizer, Don Bredes, and Jake Mosher.

I attended to their memories and to Howard's words and was reminded again of the power of stories: to entertain, to move, to recollect, to pass down, to connect us with each other, alone or in a crowd, as we listen together.

Points North is both the final book by and the perfect introduction to this essential American storyteller.

New poem "Constellations" in Valparaiso Poetry Review

Another new poem just out in Valparaiso Poetry Review, titled "Constellations":

https://www.valpo.edu/valparaiso-poet...

This poem arrived almost whole after I saw the Calder and Miro exhibits of their respective "Constellations" at the Pace and Acquavella galleries last spring 2017. The Miro in particular moved me: 23 small paintings of intimately meticulous texture, exhibited together for the first time in decades, which Miro painted under great stress as he and his family moved from place to place during World War II. In many of the paintings and in their titles Miro embedded lines of poems, to beguiling, wistful, humorous, dramatic, and sometimes erotic effect.
