Very powerful and inspiring documentary about race, incarceration, policing, and finding hope in the darkest of times.

Ellen Bryant Voigt sonnets

Gorgeous, moving, clear-eyed, and prescient sonnets about the 1919 flu pandemic by Ellen Bryant Voigt, one of our finest poets. I can imagine someone reading these poems and this book 100 years from now, with the same eyes that we with read today: in fear and in hope and in the wonderment with which we behold, if not quite understand, forces much greater than what we imagine ourselves to be.

Terrific poem by Marcus Wicker in Poetry

As posted in Poetry Daily: this is a brilliant poem that lures you in with “bro” lingo, the patter and wink wink nudge nudge conspiratorial humor that makes you feel part of something, and then turns your sly assent and complicity against you. Read and re-read:

Dawn Davies poem "Mailing a Letter" on Poetry Daily

A beautifully-developed list poem that becomes an intimate narrative, with a devastating last line:

launch of Tough Poets Press

Great news for booklovers: Tough Poets Press is rediscovering books long out of print that deserve a new audience.

Delighted to see that Donald Newlove's Sweet Adversity is one of their first publications. Donald Newlove is an important and singular writer whose novels need to be republished; his memoir "Those Drinking Days" is one of the best books about addiction and alcohol that I've ever read.

Read Sweet Adversity and support this new press, as well as turn yourself on to Don Newlove:
