Paris Review on Inez Holden

Terrific Paris Review piece on this neglected (but now available for re-discovery) author who wrote fiction and nonfiction about life in wartime Britain, especially the women who worked in factories that supplied munitions to the war effort. My wife Kristin Bluemel edited Blitz Writing, just published by the UK indie Handheld Press: a great place to start!

If you haven't read it, I promise you this book will open your heart and change your mind.

Points North by Howard Frank Mosher

I was honored to be Howard Frank Mosher's editor for God's Kingdom and his final book Points North--the latter of which goes on sale today, a wonderful story collection set in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont:

Irshad Manji on Morning Joe: diversity, listening, and learning from "others"

I love this interview with Irshad Manji about how to have those difficult conversations in fractious times--and be rewarded by deeper understanding of both "their" point of view as well as our own.

New Yorker multi-media feature on The Deaf Republic

I highly recommend this feature, which combines illustrations, some sign language, and poetry by Ilya Kaminsky, author of The Deaf Republic:
