The Dirty Thirty day 4 & 5

Day 4&5 are together and late because I was in Florida and had little to no service or wifi the whole time. So bare with me as I catch up from the weekend. Below are the last of the interview questions. If you want to see all of them (including mine) you can find them at Fantasy With Fire. Enjoy!

Were you #TeamEdward, #TeamJacob, or #TeamSomeoneStopThisMadnessThatIsTwilight?

I admit it.  I was Team Edward.  For about 10 seconds.  Twilight was something that I loved the first time I read through it, but the movies really ruined it for me.  They had HORRIBLE casting and bad makeup, BUT, they did make me realize how much I genuinely didn’t like the character of Bella.  After seeing the movies and then going back to try reading the books and that did not work.  All of the things about Bella that annoyed me in the movies were still there.  They just weren’t as noticeable until I had seen them in film.  Had I never watched the movies, I would probably still love that series.  Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

When you were a kid, did you believe there was a monster under your bed?

Nope, but there was a creepy dude with a striking resemblance to Freddy in the dark corner on the opposite site of the room from my bed.  Even during the day, I wanted nothing to do with that corner.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

Ugh, people who chew with their mouth open.  It grosses me out on a level I can’t even begin to describe.  I will also cut someone out of my life for lying to me.  Lol  That one doesn’t go over well at all.

Post-Its – yay or nay?

HELLS YES.  Post-It’s are the greatest invention EVER.

The world is full of magic and supernatural creatures.  You have 24 hours to live.  What would you do?

I would track down Jericho Barrons and have my way with him.  lol

If you could invite five writers, living or dead, over for a dinner party, who would you invite and why?

Stephen King – Because he is the king of horror.  I love his writing so much.  I know he’s someone you either love or hate, and I know a lot of my friends think I am looney for liking his style, but I do.  So, so much!

Anne Rice – This woman is single-handedly responsible for my love of vamp fiction.

Jeaniene Frost – She’s the queen of paranormal romance with an urban fantasy twist.

Karen Marie Moning – She’s the queen of urban fantasy with a paranormal romance twist.

Dan Brown – Ok, I wont lie, I would have to get him drunk before I started talking to him, but, I would love to pick Dan Brown’s brain about his research for the Robert Langdon (Angels & Demons , The DaVinci Code, The Lost Symbol, and Inferno) books.  They’re so amazing and the detail is so intricate.  That all being said, he’s kind of known for being an anti-social dick, so, yeah, I’d get him a little tipsy before we started to chat.

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, and it wouldn’t adversely affect your health in any way, what would it be?

Buffalo wings.  Don’t even need to think about it.  Buffalo wings and ranch dressing.

You’re stranded on a desert island.  By some act of strange magic, there’s running water, electricity, and necessities, such as food and coconut body wash, will never run out.  All you have to worry about is entertaining yourself for the rest of your days.  What ten things would you bring with you to occupy yourself?

My Kindle

My laptop

A projector

A magical internet connection

A stack of white bed sheets

The best hammock on the market

A stereo system

My cats

Tequila

The little umbrellas that go in drinks

Do you believe in ghosts?

I’m not sure.  All I know if I have experienced some things I cant explain.

If you could make any one supernatural creature real, which would it be and why?

Jericho Barrons, and because he’s frikkin Jericho Barrons.

If you could send any message to your readers, what would you say?

THANK YOU!  Thank you so much for your never-ending love and support!

Conflicted~Review and Giveaway

Conflicted-blog-tour-banner-1024x384 Synopsis-1024x265

Mia Ryan was on the path to make all her dreams come true. Her life was everything she wanted it to be; until one fateful night changed everything – leaving her broken and without direction. Nearly a year later, she still has little faith in anyone or anything. Desperate to reclaim her life’s ambition, she takes an unexpected offer that promises to solve all her problems. But as Mia moves forward, she’s faced with obstacles she couldn’t have foreseen. The biggest of them lies within the mystery of Ethan Fitzgerald; a man who affects her like no other, but who she should avoid pursuing, at all costs.

On a mission himself, Ethan Fitzgerald didn’t care who he pissed off on his road to fulfill his mother’s dying wish. He relied on himself, and was closed off to the world around him – until Mia Ryan walked through his door. Normally one to avoid messy emotions, Ethan’s world is turned upside down by Mia, and he can’t seem to get enough of her.

There are lines you can cross that will change the course of your life forever …Review

The title really does say it all. Conflicted is a book about a scorned woman who was expelled from her university, being made “an example.” What her ex-boyfriend did was unforgiveable and that has hardened Mia against relationships. Instead she has a few guys she rotates from week to week. Now we get to the juicy stuff. Mia is offered a job as a mole by the editor of a well-known, high profile magazine. She agrees even though it is obviously a bad decision. The owner of the company she is supposed to take down, Ethan Fitzgerald, is a sexpot. (Aw come on, we all saw that coming.) He is undeniably attracted to Mia. She off of relationships for the time being, besides she was hired to find information to take his company down. But the more time they spend together, the harder it is to deny the attraction. Then the ex-boyfriend comes back to town hell bend on winning Mia back.

Great story, well written and flows very well. You will have a book hangover after this one.

excerpt

“What the hell are you doing here? Are you stalking me now?” I snapped.

I attempted to remove his hand, but the effort behind it was marginal. Everything within me relished his hands all over me. My knees became weak with the heavy want coursing between my legs. My upper body constricted with my wayward needs. Ethan tightened his grip as he whirled me around so that my back was on his front. The music shifted to a slow, deliberate song that was fitting for my predicament. I cursed Usher underneath my breath for coming out with this song. Ethan had buried me into his body. It was impossible not to notice his hardness. He ran his hands down the front of my thighs until he hit bare skin.10408984_816957164991316_759081380804552458_n

“It’s hard to stalk someone when they’re in the club that you own,” he shot back.

“You own this place?” I stammered.

“I have a vested interest, so I come in on occasion. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered you were here,” he remarked.

My concentration was dwindling with every stroke he made upon my body. Ethan continued running his hands up and down my thighs, causing my heart to beat out of my chest. I bit my lip to keep from moaning from the pleasure when his fingers lingered towards the inside. My hands took on a mind of their own as they slid down his waist and thighs. His breaths trickled across my neck. It heightened the erotic dance south of me. I was in the danger zone with him. I fought to find my rational side to avoid undressing for him right then and there. My mind grasped at the few functioning brain cells to keep him talking. It was my last line of defense to keep him from kissing me.

“Why are you so upset?”

“I’m angry because you keep denying me when it’s clear you want me. To top it off, you come to my club and dance with countless men right in front of me,” Ethan growled.

He ran his nose down my neck before licking away a bead of sweat. I gasped. The hand that he had moved to my waist slipped underneath my top. He caressed my belly before running his fingers further down, making every ounce of me come to a dull ache. Against my will, my body moved in ways to encourage him to travel further south to take full advantage of me. Ethan’s hands settled along my waistline, lazily trailing his fingers along it. My mind screamed one last time that this was not an option for me. In a lastditch attempt, I paused his hands so he wouldn’t go any further. Ethan whipped me around to face him. The passion in his eyes was unmistakable.

“I’m trying to do the right thing,” I moaned.

His hands drifted underneath my shirt and up my sides on their way north this time. As he progressed along my rib cage to the lower line of my bra, he moved us off the dance floor. Ethan pushed me up against a pillar at the far end of it. He brought his body right into mine. He tossed in an occasional thrust of the hips as he pinned me, just to remind me how very well he knew my body. Ethan cupped my breast with tender strokes of his hand before pressing his lips on a spot underneath my ear lobe. It was enough to melt every part of me. I was throbbing all over for him.

“You want me. I want you. I don’t care what’s right or wrong,” Ethan hissed.

I tilted my neck as he trailed deep kisses down my collarbone and exposed shoulder. I wanted him so much that it was close to making me burst. I moaned even louder when his teeth grazed the crook of my shoulder. He sucked along my neck with eagerness, making no effort to hold back his want for me. I slanted my head to bring my lips vigorously down on his. My tongue drifted across the top of his mouth before his tongue met mine where they danced to the beat with the music around us. My hands moved down to his hips as he pumped against me. I slid them even further down to his ass. Ethan responded by grinding harder and grabbing one of my legs to raise it around his hip.

Our bodies melded together in an erotic dance as our mouths devoured each other. I lost myself in the music, in his lips, in his body, in his hands, and in the desires he brought out in me. His hands ran up and down my body while his lips and hips brought me to the point of no return.

The Dirty Thirty- Day 3

Day 3.

We’re talking habits, talents, and apocalypse survival rates.

What’s the strangest talent you have?

I honestly can’t think of any.  None which are even remotely strange.  Well, I don’t think they are.  I will have to ask my friends about that and see what kinds of answers I get.

If you could live in any fictional place, whether from a book or movie, where would you go?

Hmmm, that would probably be Kate Daniels Atlanta.  Or Fever Dublin.  HOGWARTS!!!  OMG, I’D GO TO HOGWARTS!!!!!

What is your quirkiest habit?

Probably that I fidget with everything.  If I am not actively doing something, I am fidgeting.  For instance, I can’t just sit and watch TV.  I have to have my hands occupied.  It’s not uncommon to find me making mini paper airplanes out of gum wrappers or making charm bracelets.  I can’t just sit.

The zombie apocalypse is here.  Are you the type who’s going to survive or are you going to be zombie chow?

I would love to think I’d be the type to kick some ass and really hold my own.  In reality, I am pretty sure I’d end up zombie chow.  I don’t like to run.  lol

In the world of urban fantasy, who is your favorite villain of all time and why?

Oh, how to choose….  I don’t think I can!  I am a lover of bad guys.  It’s very rare that I don’t secretly root for the bad guy.  Lol  Ummm, if I had a gun to my head to pick just one, I think I would actually pick Damon Salvatore from the ORIGINAL Vampire Diaries books that came out in the early 90’s.  I loved those books long before anyone had a clue about them, and long before they started writing on all the add-on books.  Damon was a raging bad ass and he was straight-up SCARY.  Now that it’s a show, I love the show.  Ian Somerhalder was a perfect casting choice for Damon.  He’s perfect for the role and I am glad they haven’t ruined his character on the show.

In the world of urban fantasy, who is your favorite book boyfriend of all time and why?

Jericho Muthaeffin Barrons.  Swooooooooon……  I so badly wish he was a real person.  I can’t even imagine being Karen Marie Moning.  Could you imagine having that personality floating around in your head???  Good lawd!

In the world of urban fantasy, who is your favorite heroine of all time and why?

HA!  That’s probably going to be Charley Davidson.  She’s hilarious.  If we were talking about nothing but badassery, that would probably be Kate Daniels.

J.M. GREGOIRE WAS BORN AND RAISED IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, USA, AND DESPITE HER ABHORRENCE FOR ANY SEASON THAT DARES TO DROP TO A TEMPERATURE BELOW SEVENTY DEGREES, SHE STILL CURRENTLY RESIDES THERE WITH HER TWO CHILDREN AND HER TWO CATS. ALWAYS A PASSIONATE READER, HER LOVE OF URBAN FANTASY BOOKS EVENTUALLY MORPHED INTO A LOVE OF WRITING THEM. SHE IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON THE URBAN FANTASY / PARANORMAL ROMANCE DEMON LEGACY SERIES, AND HAS A NEW URBAN FANTASY / THRILLER SERIES COMING OUT SOON.

The Dirty Thirty- Day 2

Day 2….GO!

Imagine your series is made into a movie, and you’ve been made casting director.  Who would star in your leading roles?

This is something I have thought about a lot because it’s been one of my favorite questions to see elsewhere.  If I were to cast my characters, they would be as follows:

Kate Beckinsale - Dez2Dez Davanzatti – Kate Beckinsale with blue contacts in.  But it would be a cross between Kate circa Underworld mixed with the FANTASTIC hair she had in Van Helsing.

David Draiman - Vegas

Michael “Vegas” Tremayne  – Vegas is a tougher one to cast.  His face has always been David Draiman, the lead singer of Disturbed, but his body type is more along the lines of Joe Manganiello.  Maybe a little bulkier than that.

James McAvoy - Charlie

Charlie – James McAvoy.  James McAvoy all over the place!

Lena Olin - Cassandra

Cassandra Giordanno – Lena Olin.  I love the regal grace that woman carries herself with, and she’s always got this look on her face like she’s got a secret.  I love her.

Matt Bomer - LucasLucas Tremayne – Matt Bomer circa the movie In Time.  Lucas had already been in my head for quite some time the first time I saw Matt Bomer.  The instant I laid eyes on him, I knew.  That’s Lucas.  In fact, take Matt Bomer’s looks from In Time, but his whole personality as Neal Caffrey in the show White Collar (which I had never even heard of until a year and a half AFTER I wrote Burning).  Neal and Lucas might as well be one in the same.  I was absolutely FLOORED the first time I watched an episode of that show.

FanFiction is becoming a widely used pass time for fans all over the place.  Some authors are rather offended by fans creating their own stories with the author’s characters.  An example of how active fanfics are: there are a little over 43,000 different Buffy fanfics just on one website.  What are your feelings on fan-fic?  Would you be flattered or offended if someone wrote a [Series Name] fanfic?  *Keeping in mind that there is no money made on fanfic.*

I think I would struggle between deeply flattered and yelling “DEZ WOULD NEVER SAY THAT!” at my computer screen.

Are there any movies you could hold a one-man quote-a-thon for?

Oh, far too many.  Lol  Dumb & Dumber is a big one.  Step Brothers.  Anchorman.  Pretty much anything by Jim Carrey or Will Farrell.  Labyrinth.  Dark Crystal.  Any of the Iron Man flicks.  Any of the Chris Nolan Batman flicks.  The Breakfast Club.  Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.  Most of my DVD collection, if I’m being honest.  lol

What’s your favorite ___________?:

- Vacation spot –
That’s a toss-up between Las Vegas and Meadview AZ.

- Place to write –
The comfort of my bed.

- Alcoholic drink –
Oh, tequila.  Me and Mr. Patron are great friends.

- TV show that’s been cancelled –
That’s a tight race between Firefly (BROWNCOATS REPRESENT!!!) and Almost Human.  I was really quite angry with Fox when I found out it had been cancelled.

- Holiday –
Halloween.  It kind of has to be by default because that’s also my birthday.  ;)

If you weren’t a writer, what profession would you choose to do for the rest of your life?

Public Relations for authors.  lol  I am a marketing geek.  I thoroughly enjoy it.  If I could do anything with my time for the rest of my life, and it couldn’t be writing, I would be a PR rep, for sure.

Are you a dog person or a cat person?

I am an animal person.  Truth be told, I had my face brutally attacked by a German Shepard when I was a kid, so, I am nervous around most dogs.  Maybe nervous isn’t the right word.  Cautious?  I don’t condemn dogs as a whole or anything like that.  I have met some dogs I absolutely adore and wish I could take home.  So, I don’t hate dogs, but, for my own peace of mind, I am definitely more drawn to smaller animals.

The Dirty Thirty- Day 1

Day 1 of the Dirty Thirty is finally here! Each day I will be posting a few questions from my interview with J.M. Gregoire. Best part is, not once did we ask “what made you start writing?” To see my interview head over to J.M. Gregoire’s website.

What kind of underwear does your antagonist prefer? (To wear, to see on their lover, etc.)

Hmmm, well, I have a few antagonists, but, I think I can confidently say they all go commando.  The big bads in my books are all the old-worldy types.   Or they just plain and simply don’t give a crap.

What is your protagonist’s favorite color? (and don’t even try to pretend that you don’t know.)

Black.  Definitely black.  Black leather is even better.

How many times did you have to look up alternative words for body parts?

Ummm, I don’t think I did that at all for body parts.  I did have to educate myself on all things guns, though.

In all your research for your books what is the strangest thing you have ever Googled?

How to kill people in weird ways.  Odd ball murders and the like.  I also spent a LOT of time on this awesome serial killer database.  Like, maybe far more than I needed to for the research I was doing.  *shifty eyes*

Have you ever Googled yourself?  If so, were you shocked by anything you found?

I Google myself every couple of weeks.  I am far from hidden online.  I have two book blogs, my author blog, a diet blog, a random-thoughts-type blog, a blog which serves as a free resource for authors to get vetted publishing services, three convention blogs, a blog for my public relations company, a “ladies only” private blog, and just about every social network profile imaginable.  So, no, I was not surprised.  Lol  I was surprised that I hadn’t pissed anyone off yet.  I have yet to find anything negative, and that alone is a little shocking.

As an author, what are your feelings on the eBook craze?  Good thing or bad thing for the industry?

I think ebooks have completely changed the publishing industry for the better.  I know so many people who started reading far more once ereaders became a big thing, myself included.  I mean, I read a lot anyway, but I found it a lot easier to get through books when I could carry my entire library with me on something weighing in at less than a pound and small enough to fit right in my purse.  I believe a lot of people feel the same way about ereaders.  Plus, there’s the whole convenience of it.  A friend tells you about a book you HAVE to read, you tap the screen, and POOF!  Your book is waiting there for you.  Instant gratification.  For those who love a physical copy to have in their collection (like me  :::cough cough::: I AM NOT A HOARDER!!!!!), they still have the option of going out and buying a physical copy.  All around, I think it’s a 100% awesome thing for the industry.

EXCERPT

Woman looking into hedge at nightWhere my normally Saturday paper awaits me I see it is gone.  What the shit? I look for it, and see

it’s jammed in the front bushes that lay again the porch wall.

“Seriously this new paper boy needs a lesson in straight shooting.” I grumble while I bend over digging

through the bush to grab the paper.

“Doing some early morning gardening?”  There is this voice that comes from behind me. One that

I unfortunately connect with Mr. WTF is he doing out right now!? I am frozen with my head in

a bush.  I register all the options I have right now, and all of them consist of me straitening and

turning around. In my robe.  Damn you world.

“Um no just looking for something. Thought I saw a cat. No worries here.” I ramble into the

bushes.  Please go away. Please go away.

His voice seems a bit closer, which does not sit well for my self-esteem right now. I mean I personally

think my robe is dope but to be caught in it by this guy, I’m starting to wish I ditched Pinkie Pie pony

when I was fourteen.

“Want some help?” I hear from behind me.

“Nope. All good!” I sound a bit panicked.  He needs to beat it and like right now. My back

is starting to cramp and my legs are about to give in and send me tumbling face first into the

greens.  I’m not even sure why he is being so normal with me. I’m pretty sure I was not very nice

to him less than twelve hours ago.  That smooth voice steps even closer. “Well why don’t you let

me take a look. I’m pretty talented in digging through a good bush to get to the prize.” Oh hell no he did not just innuendo me!   Digging through my bush. Dream on pal, I stand

straight and whip around to face him and holy shit.

teaser 3“Holy shit.” I let spill out of my

mouth.  Pretty much around the same time he jumps back and spits out, “Holy Jesus.”

“Jesus is right!  Do you ever wear a shirt?” I ask like seeing his budging biceps is an insult to my

drooling eyes. “Yes, I do but when I’m running and sweating it tends to be pointless.” He steps closer

to me and I swallow my tongue. Anything else I was going to bark out stops completely and his close

proximity shuts it down.  Why is this guy having such a dizzying effect on me?

“So…” He begins with that purr to his tone. Seriously a purr?  Who purrs while they talk?!

“Do you always walk around in a kid’s robe and all that green gook covering your face?”

Insert jaw drop and gasp. There is nothing like forgetting,

while having a stare down, two feet from your too hot for his own good neighbor, that you are wearing

a god damn seaweed mask.  Die cruel world.

Will she survive the journey? Will her Hunters? And, what will Anala choose to do when she finds out the Society of Hunters and her parents’ legacy are in jeopardy?

This is the final book in the Destined Series. Follow Anala and her Hunters in their final quest to see how it all ends.

Currently living in the Houston area, Jourdyn spends her time writing, designing websites and caring for what she equates as a zoo with 3 dogs, 2 cats, a bearded dragon, 2 frogs and 2 turtles and an axolotl. In the recent years, she has changed her lifestyle to include working out and eating right. She now competes in triathlons, will run her second half-marathon in early 2015, and loves Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing and Krav Maga.

Jourdyn loves bringing her characters out for everyone to meet. Her goal is to keep writing in many different genres, as she feels there shouldn’t be anything limiting writers.
