Love turns to blood when Shiloh, Alpha of the Catskill Wolf Pack, meets newcomer Austin Turner. Her beast wants the mouthwatering werewolf with a desire like she’s never known. And despite the tattoos running up and down his arms, he seems like the perfect mate. That is until mysterious things start happening in the pack. Then Shiloh finds herself in a race to find out where the violence is coming from, and all signs point to him. Can she stop the violence? Or will her hunger for Austin leave the blood of her own pack on her hands?

“I’ve been dying to kiss you
ever since I laid eyes on you.” He said his admission a siren’s call in the
quiet of the night. “May I?”
What would the pack think? Their
leader kissing a relative unknown. Uncertainty clouded my judgment for the
first time in forever. I looked back to the pack and realized we were alone in
the clearing. Shouts of laughter and howls could be heard deep in the woods.
They were off doing God knew what.
If there was ever a time to
taste those incredible lips, now was it. Every nerve stood on end as I
swallowed.
It felt very surreal to say,
“You may.”
My beast stood up and cocked her
head. He slid toward me in the night. She stalked closer to the surface. Was
this really happening?
I’m usually the aggressive one
in sexual situations, but this time I just waited. Waited to see what he would
do. The anticipation ratcheted as he brought his hand up to cup my jaw line.
The tips of his fingers reached my ear. I forgot to breathe as his finger
caressed my earlobe.
Then there were his lips. They
came ever closer, inch by inch. My lips ached for him. He stopped though and
just stared at me. I could almost see the stars reflected in his eyes.
“You’re breathtaking,” he
whispered against my lips.
Then he answered my prayers and
closed the space between us.
It was delicate at first. The
softness of his lips played against mine: touching, tasting. It was heaven. The
world fell away as my eyes closed.
Every fiber of my body was
focused on the way his lips slipped over mine. My mind spun as he pulled me
closer still. The heat of his body seared me. I nipped at his lips. He wasn’t
close enough. Urgency flooded through me. I pulled at him. Groaning, he molded
his lips to mine.
Desperate for more of him, I
opened my mouth. My breath hitched as our lips and tongues danced. Heat flooded
through me. My beast reached for him through our lips. She wasn’t the only one
either. I tasted the dusky earthiness of his own beast as he reached for mine.

Hi! My name is Erica Reeder. But you don’t want to know just
my name, do you? You want to know me. The REAL me. Not the veneered person from
the picture. Well, you’re in luck- this is your chance!! And if these questions
don’t satisfy you, my books certainly will.

A fallen angel is offered the chance at regaining his wings, just as long as he can corrupt a curvy mortal woman.
Fallen In Sin
by
Marissa Farrar
International Bestselling Author
@MarissaFarrar

After trying her best to live a life free from sin, curvy Eva plans for the next man she lets into her bed to be the one she spends the rest of her life with.
Offered the chance of regaining his wings, fallen angel Ruax is on a mission from the Devil. All he has to do is corrupt Eva enough for her soul to belong to the Dark Lord. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for the mortal girl. Will he complete his mission or will he let his feelings get in the way?

Ruax thought he was going to sleep, his feet hung over the end of
the too-small-couch, but when he opened his eyes again he discovered himself
back in Hell, standing in front of Satan in a world made of flames.
“So,” Satan said, reclining in his throne of bones. “How’s it going
up there?”
Instantly, he was guarded. “Fine. It’s going fine.”
Lucifer threw back his head and laughed. “Fine? Do you think I don’t
see what’s going on up there?”
“I’m making progress,” he snapped back.
“You only have three days. One of them is already gone, so now
you’re down to two. You think licking a little pussy is going to corrupt her
soul? You need to own her. Possess her. You’re going to need to fill her, every
single part.”
“Having you watching in doesn’t exactly help.”
“Oh, you’re a big boy, Ruax. You know how all this works. They’re
all being watched on Earth, whether it’s from down here, or up there. You’re
mortal now, at least for the moment, so you get monitored just like the rest of
them.”
Ruax scowled. “I don’t have much choice then, do I?”
“I’m glad to hear it.”
“You could give me some pointers, you know. Something about her that
will help me get under her skin. You obviously know who she is and she’s
important to you, or you wouldn’t be bothering with all of this.”
Lucifer smiled, but the action was terrifying. “Well, that would
just spoil all my fun. I want to see you work for it, Ruax. Show me how much
you want those wings back and you’ll be free of me for good.” He gave a little
chuckle. “Or for as long as you can go without pissing His Almighty off again
and getting your sorry ass sent back down here.”
“That was a misunderstanding,” Ruax mumbled.
“Yeah, yeah. That’s what they all say. Now go and get back to work.”
Satan lifted a hand and drew it across Ruax in a horizontal line. A
wall of flames rushed up around him, though he felt no heat. The brightness of
the light blinded him, and he squeezed his eyes shut against the force.
When he opened them again, Hell had vanished.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
Hi! Thanks for having me. I’ve been a writer since I was a child, but
I’ve been writing professionally for the past seven years. Writing has always
been something I’ve done, but it wasn’t until I finished my degree in Zoology
that I decided it was something I wanted to pursue as a profession. It took me
another six years after making that decision to finally get published.
How did you come up with this storyline?
I’ve
wanted to write a fallen angel story for a while now, and I love writing about
curvy women, as I am one myself! When the opportunity arose to write a story
for the Prowlers and Growlers boxed set, I decided now was the time to get
those writer muscles flexing and write about my fallen angel and the curvy girl
he has to corrupt.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best aspects are getting to live so many lives through the
characters of the books I write. I love to write, and I’m kind of obsessive
about it – I write a new novel every other month! The worst aspects are the
self-doubt – worrying that my work won’t live up to expectations.
What inspires you to write?
Everything! Other books I read, televisions shows, movies, dreams I
have, overheard conversations in the street. I’m constantly inspired.
How did you conduct your research for
Fallen in Sin?
In the same way most writers conduct
their research – through Google! My character Ruax is an actual fallen angel
from mythology – he’s the fallen angel of headaches! I also set my novel in New
York, so I needed to research some of the locations.
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Fallen in Sin?
‘How delicate, how
fragile, these mortals were…’
***
‘And he wanted to see
her eat. Wanted to watch her part that pretty mouth and put things inside it.’
***
‘With his fingers on
her skin, Ruax forgot about the other couples sitting around them, and the
waiting staff bringing their meals and topping up their wine. The only thing
that existed was her.’
What would your friends say is your best quality?
Probably
my directness. You always know where you are with me.
Are reader reviews important to you. Why?
Yes, of
course. Reviews can sell books, but also an author can learn a lot from readers’
reviews – what works and what doesn’t work. I always appreciate the time a
reader takes to write a review on one of my books.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”
I have
three girls, ages 3, 6 and 9, so they take up the rest of my time. I’m lucky
that writing is my full time job so I don’t have to have a ‘real life’ one.
Tell us about your other books?
I have
over twenty-five novels published of various genres. I mainly write romance –
paranormal, of course, but also romantic suspense, dark romance, and contemporary
romance. I also have a brand new urban fantasy series called The Mind Movers
coming out later this year.
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers
to know what would it be?
That I’ll always work to write the best story possible, and that I love
to hear from readers, so if you’ve enjoyed my stories, please get in touch.
Thanks so
much for interviewing me!

@AngelicaDawson

As a transgender woman,
Jacqueline has never felt quite right in her body. Concocting a hormone supplement
to assist in her transition, she unwittingly unleashes her hidden half: the
curvy, beautiful, Heidi.
Heidi is perfectly
feminine, everything Jacqueline wished she could be, except for one
thing…she’s pure evil.
Jacqueline will have to
defeat her inner monster to have any chance at happiness.

“Fifteen.”
Tears burned streaks down her cheeks. David raised his hand, then dropped it on
her upturned ass. “Sixteen.”
“Enough?”
He slid his palm over her bright pink bottom, making it tingle in a way that
caused a twitch in her groin. Unlike most women, she sported a penis and it
grew against his lap, pinned slightly. That pain added to the wonderful warmth
spreading down her thighs.
“Yes.”
Her voice shook even though she spoke with confidence. Sniffling, she swallowed
the rest of the pain.
He
wound up and landed his hardest slap yet. She screeched but wasn’t entirely
surprised. “I decide when it is enough,” he reminded her. “Now, let’s see that
cock.”
He
pushed her up and she caught his shoulder for balance. He looked her over,
starting with her knobby knees, up over the penis that had grown and continued
to swell as he slid a hand down over her ass. He didn’t stop there, taking in
her lacy red bra and eventually her tear-streaked cheeks.
David
sat with his knees splayed, the stable base that had supported her a moment
ago. His pants were soft and loose, tenting. How had she missed that before? He
wore no shirt and she put a hand on one of his pecs. Her stroke was an echo of
his on her ass.
She
knew her makeup had run and wiped a hand across her cheek, no longer looking as
feminine as before. “Sorry.”
Despite
how quietly she had apologized, David’s palm went from caressing to smacking.
She knew what he required, what she’d forgotten.
“I am
a woman,” she intoned, reciting as she had every morning since she’d taken up
with David and every time she apologized for her appearance in front of him. “I
am beautiful, and my body is a temple. With it I will worship you and thank you
for your adoration and admiration.”
“Damn
right.” He pulled her between his thighs and sank his fingers into her long
hair, using it to pull her down for a kiss. “Now get a tissue and clean
yourself up.”
“Thank
you.” She pressed her lips to his, but as soon as she had, she noticed her nose
running and hurried to the en suite bathroom. Using astringent, depilatory
cream and moisturizer, she conducted her nightly ablutions. Returning to David,
she doubled her arms behind her for the clasp of her bra.
She
stopped, seeing him stroking his erection. His pants were a puddle on the floor
next to the chair, upon which she had laid her own. Her breath came faster and
she bit her lip, wondering how he would want her.
“Come
here.” He crooked a finger. “Something simple tonight? I know you’re in the lab
first thing tomorrow.”
She
nodded, but considered asking for the opposite. For something long, intense,
and climactic.
David’s
mouth twitched, rising on one side into a lop-sided smirk. “Turn, bend, and
grab your ankles,” he commanded.
Jacqueline
shivered. That was not the prelude to something simple. How did he read her
mind like that? No matter. “Yes, sir.” She obeyed, presenting her posterior. It
was still warm from his spanking.
“Can
you see your cock?” he asked, moving from the bed. She could follow his voice
but couldn’t see what he did.
“Yes.”
Of course she could, she was bent right in front of it.
“Kiss
it.”
Her
whole body seemed on edge. This was not an easy request and try as she might,
it remained out of reach.
“Close
enough. Stay there.” Jaqueline didn’t pull her head back, but she gasped as his
lubed fingers prepared her tight ass to be followed by his cock. The probing
and twisting made her insides turn to water, melting away.
“Fuck,
David, I’m going to fall over.”
“No,
you’re not.” He had a firm hold of her hips, and despite her over 160 pounds,
he lifted her almost off the floor. She wasn’t falling as long as he held her.
Trusting
him, feeling safe, she tried to press back onto his cock. He didn’t let go, but
nudged her head with his wrist. “I want you to cover yourself in cum.”
She
shook her head, disbelieving. The blood rushing to her head made her see stars
in the corners of her vision. He felt so good fucking her that she was willing
to try anything. “I’m getting dizzy.”
“Keep
your head there.” He thrust faster, his thighs slapping into her ass, making it
sting. She squirmed, which only made it better for both of them. Her cock, bent
at an odd angle, throbbed, and when David started to erupt inside her, she knew
her own release wouldn’t be denied.
“David!”
Ejaculate shot in pulses onto her chest and throat, dripping down to her
upturned face. The twisted position added to the tension in her muscles from
the climax resulted in a nasty kink in her chest. “Ow.”
“Upsie-Daisy.”
David pulled her upright against him, holding her with one arm across her chest
and the other her hips. He fondled her small breast while he tucked his nose in
under her ear. “Steady?” he asked, kissing her neck.
“Mm,”
she hummed, relaxing in his embrace.
“Lie
down. I’ll clean you up.” He disappeared into the bathroom and she barely
managed to open her eyes when he returned. He ran the warm cloth over her face
and dabbed at her hair. She would wash it in the shower in the morning. Then he
wiped her ass where his come was leaking onto the sheets. Finally, after
tossing the cloth away, he slipped under the sheets beside her, spooning up.
“I
love you,” Jacqueline whispered.
“And I
love you.”

Hi there! Great to meet you. Don’t mind the flowers. It’s
nice to have my namesake around.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to
writing?
I’ve been a published author for eight years. I loved
writing fiction in school and took my first stab at a novel when I graduated. I
fell away from it for a while, but fell back in just over 10 years ago, writing
fanfiction. Since then I’ve published many titles.
How did you come up with this storyline?
I have an author friend, Julez Morbius, that often uses
transsexuals as main characters. His writing challenged me, and after mulling
over Trans ideas, Jekyll and Hyde came to mind. Thus we have Jacqueline and
Heidi.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The singular nature of it fits both those bills. It makes it
great, because I do it whenever I want, wherever I want and it doesn’t mess
with anyone’s schedule but mine. It’s also hurdle when I don’t believe in
myself or I hit a road block because I don’t have someone working with me to
offer up a suggestion. I have a circle of support, and I do call on them, but
it’s not the same as having someone across from you, working on the same thing
at the same time, together.
What inspires you to write?
Lately, inspiration has been hard to find. Nature is one of
my muses, and although it’s a dreary drab spring here in Edmonton, fresh buds
on the trees remind me that everything is just about to come into bloom again.
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Changes?
She would have another chance, another time. She just needed
to be patient… She had never been patient.
***
“Let me know if you need anything. I can find another
construction guy and punch his lights out.”
***
“Ah, you’re planning on parading that fucktastic body, are
you?”
What would your friends say is your best quality?
I’ve been told it’s my tolerance. It comes easy to me, so I
don’t think about it, but when I see a parent with a shrieking child, or a kid
that seems to be always in trouble, I don’t think judgmental things about
their personality or character, I start with the assumption that there are
circumstances in their lives that I don’t know or understand. Instead of
looking down on them, or offering platitudes, I try to offer REAL help, by
giving that mom or dad a minute or two to themselves, by keeping an eye on that
kid on the playground and making sure that any complaints against him are
justified. And although I am tolerant and accepting of transgender individuals, I also know that my head defaults gender in a way I hate. It leads
to me using incorrect pronouns instinctively and feeling terrible about it
after. Although it might be my best feature, it isn’t always a good as I would
like.
Are reader reviews important to you? Why?
Yes and no. Mostly no. I have very low self-esteem so a
flattering review can really bolster me. However, it is the bad reviews that
haunt me and make me second guess everything I write, long after I’ve forgotten
the good one. As a result, I try not to look at my reviews. It’s difficult.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”
I’m an environmental consultant and a lunch supervisor at my
daughter’s school. In the winter, when we aren’t as busy it’s easy to squeeze
in an hour for lunch, but over late spring and summer, I’m often out of town.
It’s a nice change from season to season.
Tell us about your other books?
My primary series is Blue Moon House about BDSM vampires.
Changes takes place at a BDSM dungeon called Riz Kay, which is also a setting
for Switching Up. You get a glimpse of David and Jacqueline in that story.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know me.
It’s been lovely to share some of my hopes and fears with you.

Angelica Dawson, best selling Naughty Nights Press author, has been writing for several years and having sex a lot longer than that. Angelica is a wife, mother and environmental consultant. Her love of plants and the outdoors is not diminished by the bloodsucking hoards — mosquitoes and black flies, not vampires.

Rachel walked over to
the young Latino woman and waited for her to open the glass before speaking.
“Hi, I’m here to see Dr. Jameson.”
“The doctor is busy,”
she said pushing a clipboard forward. “Fill this out and I’ll call your name
when it’s your turn,” she said in heavily accented English, and turned her
attention back to her nails.
“Sorry, no,” Rachel
said. “You misunderstand.” She glanced at the woman’s nametag. “Maria, I’m not
here for an appointment. I’m, er, a friend of Dr. Jameson’s.” The lie poured
off her tongue and she gripped the shoulder strap of her purse praying she
wouldn’t be sent away.
Maria’s hand stilled
and she lifted a brow. “The doctor has no friends.” The clinic’s phone began to
ring, but she ignored it.
Gee, I wonder why almost spilled from Rachel’s mouth but she caught
herself just in time. Not for the first time she wondered how Seamus had
spawned the devil himself.
“Maria,” Devon’s harsh
voice yelled out. “Answer that damn phone already.”
“I’m busy,” Maria
replied sweetly, loud enough to be heard in the back. She glanced at Rachel. A
sly smile curved her lips. “Talking to your friend.”
“I don’t have any
friends,” he said coming around the corner.
“See?” Maria said with
a careless shrug, going back to her nails once more. “I told you.”
Awesome. Just fucking awesome. Rachel wanted to crawl under a rock
and die. Get lost in the Sahara Desert with no water in 150 degree heat. Or be
left in shark-infested waters with no life raft. Be anywhere but here. You owe me, Seamus.
“What the hell are you doing here?” he demanded.
“I… ah,” Rachel
cleared her throat. Fuck my life. Why
had she let Seamus talk her into this again? Oh yes. He didn’t want his body in
a cold steel box. If what the ghost had said was true and he wasn’t just her
overactive imagination playing tricks on her. Damn it. Devon was going to see
reason. She steeled her shoulders and lifted her chin. “I need to talk to you.”
She glanced at Maria. “In private,” she added.
“You knock her up or
something, Doc? Cuz there’s only one reason a woman comes in here looking that
way. Like she’s going to tell you about the little bun in her oven.”
“What? No!” Rachel and Devon said in unison.
The horror Rachel felt
must’ve been written all over her face, because Devon scowled and Maria just
laughed. Heat flamed Rachel’s cheeks.
“You get five
minutes,” he said harshly and turned on his heal.
Maria motioned with
her nail file. “Go through that door, chica. Turn left and you’ll find the
doctor. Good luck,” she said with a wink. “I hope it’s a girl. Another boy with
that man’s temper? No bueno.” She
tsked.

Hi, I’m Kathleen and I’m going to
be your nurse tonight. How are you feeling—Oh! Oops! Wrong job, LOL. I really do need to remember to try and delete
“Oops” from my vocabulary. Doesn’t
really inspire confidence in a patient when that word pops out of my
mouth—which is way too often. J
I am so very happy to be here. Thank you for the invitation to get out of my
scrubs and chill for a bit.
How
long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I was first published back in 2008,
but I’ve always written stories.
How
did you come up with this storyline?
Ha! I was just talking about this
tonight at work. I’d actually started this manuscript back in 2007 and shelved
it. The idea had originally came on a night where one of my patients had passed
away. I can’t remember if we had coded him or if it was a case where we
withdrew care.
When a patient dies, we remove all
the invasive lines and tubes, bathe the body, put glasses and dentures in place
and then bag the body for the morgue. I don’t know if anyone has ever seen a
dead body up close—and I’m not talking about a viewing in a mortuary where the
person looks like they’re sleeping.
Well on this particular night as I
was going about doing post mortem care and my mind started with the “what if”
questions. I couldn’t get the patient’s mouth to close around his dentures and
they kept sliding out. So then I’m wondering What if he is standing beside me
as I’m doing this watching me and shaking his head at my failure to get the
dentures in place properly? What if I could actually see and talk to him and he
gave me advice? What if I saw his ghost and just freaked the F—ck out? LOL
What
are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
Some of the best aspects of writing
is all the really great friendships I’ve made over the years. I’ve learned so
much and have grown tremendously as a writer thanks to the support of the
writing community and am so grateful.
The worst aspect… probably all of
the promotional work that goes into a book release. Trying to get the word
spread about your book is really hard. There are so many great authors out
there and standing up and shouting to the world “Read Mine!!!” seems a bit
ridiculous. LOL But I’m learning…
What inspires you to write?
Working critical care can be extremely depressing. Helping
people who suffer with horrendous illnesses or have been involved in tragic
accidents can chip away at a person’s spirit. I love happily ever afters—who
doesn’t? Writing is a wonderful escape for me.
How did you conduct your research for Chicks Dig Scars?
I’ve
been a nurse for 23 years, so you can say I’ve been “researching” all of my
adult life!
What
are 3 of your favorite quotes from Chicks Dig Scars?
Maybe this whole I’m your dead patient and I’m going to haunt you thing
is growing on me.
“Christ, I’m losing my mind. I’m yelling at a dead man.”
“There’s sex in the afterlife?”
Any
more Favorites from Chicks Dig Scars?
Yes! The scene where Devon’s
receptionist thinks Rachel is knocked up. See below:
“Go through that door, chica. Turn
left and you’ll find the doctor. Good luck,” she said with a wink. “I hope it’s
a girl. Another boy with that man’s temper? No bueno.” She tsked.
“I’m not pregnant!” Rachel insisted.
What
would your friends say is your best quality?
That I have a lot of drive…
Are reader reviews important to you? Why?
Important? Hmmm… I do love hearing
from readers, but I don’t write for the reviews. I write for me.
What
do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”
Work. I have four kids to get
through college. Two are in college and 3rd kiddo starts in the
fall. When I’m off, my husband and I have season baseball and football tickets,
go to concerts, I bake—of course—and there’s lots of mandatory education
required for my job as a flight nurse.
Tell
us about your other books?
Besides Chicks Dig
Scars, I currently have 4 titles available: The first two books of my Dating
Series~Dating 911 & Dating Impossible; The Doctor’s Deception; Sex Is The Best
Medicine, and Diary of A Naughty Nurse. All of these are contemporary romances
with action packed medical drama, humor and
steamy enough to fog
your glasses!

Charley had escaped Silas’s sad excuse for a prison cell with no more than a broken nail. She knew that she was going to be in some deep shit with her employer for not only disappearing for a few days but also for not killing Silas as promised. There was something infuriating and sexy about the man that made it hard for her not to go rubbing her sass in his face. With his sardonic smile and chiseled cheek bones, Silas was quickly becoming her hardest job yet.
Silas found the little red head’s antics cute. Someone wanted him dead, but that was nothing new. The dragon was one of the most hated of his kind. He couldn’t help it everyone else was too scared to take what they really wanted, no matter the consequences. So they had hired the half-breed to send him to an early grave, but something was getting in the way of her pulling the trigger. Silas knew he pissed her off just as much as he heated her up. Next time he got her alone, he was going to investigate both.
Charley wanted this job to be over. The target was a smug, arrogant dragon with a great butt. Silas had leverage over the red-headed halfling who was trying to kill him. He’d give her what she wanted but only after he had her for a night, or three.

“Where have you
been?” the man barked at her. “Is it done?”
She had two
answers for him. “Fuck no and none of your business.”
“I’m paying you
for a job, when you disappear after part of it was to be completed, it becomes
my business. I thought I hired the best?”
After she failed
to kill the sister of her target because the target found her beforehand and
then proceeded to take her captive for the night, Charley didn’t feel that her
embarrassment was any of his business. Although, she made up for it in the end
with her disappearing act. She hoped Silas like the note she left him.
With her bag
packed, Charley zipped it closed and moved to the next. The fact that Silas
knew where she lived and how to get into her apartment wasn’t an issue before
but she pissed him off and proved him wrong. The man would be sending out his
guys to bring her back. Luckily, she had a few holes in the city and was
packing up the essentials to move.
“Calm your face,
it will be done.” Her employer this time around was a whiny hardass. He checked
in a few times a day and nagged her relentlessly. She typically didn’t get
involved with the whys of the situation just the who’s and how’s. As in, who
did they want dead and how did they want it done. But sometimes, and right now
was a perfect example, she really wished she could kill the people who hired
her instead of the targets, the world would have one less asshole. But then she
wouldn’t get paid and Charley really liked to get paid. Although in this case,
the money was not nearly as tempting as putting a hole in Mr. Copenhagen’s
chest. Silas held a card in his hand that intrigued her, and he knew it too.
“Get it done
within the week and I’ll double what I’m paying you.”
Well now…
“You’d pay me four
million dollars to kill the leader of the green sept of dragons.”
“Only if you do it
by Saturday night.”
Oh man, this was
what she lived for.
Charley was born
half angel, half bastard. She had no idea what her other half was since her
bitch of a mother left her when she was five. Foster homes made up the next
thirteen years of her life until she was eighteen and could walk away from the
life her mother had condemned her to. Hunting and killing things had started
off as self-preservation in a hard world full of creatures that hated her because
she wasn’t one of their perfect races. Being a Halfling made her a target,
being a good shot got the bullseye off her back and onto the head of someone
else. Turns out that just because people hate you for what you had no choice
in, didn’t mean they wouldn’t pay you to kill someone they hated more. She had
a pretty good life for herself. Then that fucking green dragon had to come
knocking.
Charley had been
thrilled to find that someone hated that cock sucker as much as she did. The
man broke into her home after having virtually nothing on her, she knew, she
kept track of those things. He just broke in to see who she was. This led her
to believe he was either stupid and stumbled into the wrong apartment–which
considering he is known as one of the most ruthless men in his species, she
didn’t think stupid was a very good description–or he must have known her from
somewhere else. Charley doubted he was trying to hire her. He had his own men
for that shit. That meant he had to know her sperm donor.
She had made
assumptions over her father throughout the years. Who he was. What he was. She
never got a definite answer. Silas’s presence in her apartment pushed her
towards her father being a dragon.
Her assumptions
were confirmed just last night. Silas knew her father. He flashed her his hand
and it was tempting, so damn tempting.
But then again, so
was money.
“Deal. He’ll be
dead by Saturday.”
*******
“You’ve been
distracted all night,” Hailey whispered too him. He blinked away the glaze in
his eyes and focused back on her. They were the only ones dancing under the
millions of tiny twinkling lights of the small dance floor. Then again
considering she was one of three women here the options were limited. His
sister made a beautiful bride, even more so when she smiled like she was. Her
surprise mating to Dacea had gone as planned and Silas had to admit, he was
happy for it. He had grown tired of their back and forth love battles and
arguments. Had they not done this today, he would have kidnapped them both and
officiated them himself while they were bound and gagged.
“I’m distracted by
your beauty.”
She snorted. “Nice
try. What’s on your mind?”
Little red headed
escape artists. “Work.”
“Then why are you
smiling?”
Silas narrowed his
eyes. Cocky little thing today, wasn’t she? He spun her out and pulled her back
with a giggle on her lips. “Maybe I’m smiling because you are so happy, it
makes me happy.”
“I don’t think
that’s a lie but it sure ain’t the whole truth.”
“Hailey,” he said
in warning. “I do not wish to discuss it.”
“It’s my wedding
and I’ll grill you if I want to. Now talk.” She stepped on his foot but he kept
them moving. Traditional dances were not something she was familiar with and
mixed with her lack of coordination on a good day, his toes would be bruised
that evening. Still, he spun them around so effortlessly that no one would be
the wiser of her coordination issues unless they were watching for her
grimaces.
“A prisoner
escaped from the cells last night.”
Surprised she
said, “I thought that was impossible. Well, beyond my heroic excape.”
“So did I.” It
bothered him all day. He had spent his time before the mating locked in the
room trying to see a way out from her perspective. He found none. His men were
doing the same now but during his last check in, they hadn’t found any way out
either.
“Who was it?”
“No one
important,” he said dismissively.
Hailey wasn’t
buying it. “Try again.”
But Charlotte
wasn’t important, she merely over took his mind at all hours of the day and
consumed his thoughts so thoroughly that he could get nothing done.
“A woman who you
do not need to hear any more about.”
“Is this that
woman Dak mentioned? Started with a C or something.”
He’d need to thank
Dacea with his fist later on for telling Hailey about Charlotte. “Yes,” he said
stiffly.
“No frowning at
the bride.”
Silas exhaled
trying to find patience. “Hailey-“
“Geez, fine. I’ll
stop.”
“Thank you.” The
song ended and wasn’t that just perfect timing. Silas stepped back and with a
bow he excused himself. He heard her mutter “coward” at his back but didn’t
step up to the challenge. She’d get her answers, eventually. First he wanted
his own answers.
Charlotte missed
her original target. That was going to eat at her if it wasn’t already. She was
a perfectionist and from the look she had when he told her of the miss, he knew
that had been a first. She’d come after him hard now, wanting to finish the job
and move on. Most in his situation would hide away and increase their security.
Silas planned on doing the opposite. She wanted to kill him for profit. So he
would put himself out there for her to try. He’d show himself so she would have
to show herself.
There were a few
functions he was invited too that would do for this plan. Normally he would
send a check in lieu of attending, which most preferred since he didn’t “play
well with others,” as Hailey put it. He would enjoy seeing the faces of
everyone when he did show up, especially those at his table.
The poor souls
won’t know what hit them.

Hiya! I am all kinds of excited for this set and can’t
wait to get this interview going. *rubs hands together* So bring on the
questions. Easy ones, hard ones, whatever you want to know I’d be happy to
share.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to
writing?
Well, it’s been long enough that I had to pull up my KDP
dashboard to see when my first book was published. March 2014 I published my
first book. Last month I published my eleventh.
I got into writing when a friend of mine started to write
fanfiction/role playing. That was *counts fingers* seven years ago. The friend
didn’t stick but the writing did. I left the fanfiction behind and began
writing flash fiction and short stories.
How did you come up with this storyline?
Well this is the standalone spinoff story of the villain turned
semi-good guy from my Hailey Holloway Series. Silas needed his own HEA but he
couldn’t have just anyone. She had to be tough as shit with a don’t give a fuck
attitude. Charley was actually one of my characters I wrote as back in my early
days. I adapted a lot of her flash fiction stories to work for Swelter.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”
My “day
job” is a photographer at a portrait studio. I went to school for photography
and although I like it, I don’t love it. Photography is a great hobby, it’s
just hard to make money in it when you don’t eat, sleep, breathe it. So a few
years ago I decided that it was time for a change. I began taking classes
online for Library Science. I am about a year away from getting my bachelors
and plan to continue on to get my masters and be a bona fide librarian. Right
around the time I started school, I was publishing my first book. I had a lot
of big changes all at once, which was good. It pushed me out of my comfort zone
and into the world I live in now.
I live with
my boyfriend, two german shepherds and cats in a house we bought last year.
He’s a police officer and works strange hours but that gives me time to do
homework and write. We have been together for 5 years and I am impatiently
waiting for the day he proposes. (I can say this because I know he won’t read
be reading this interview.)
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
Best would definitely be the satisfaction of the final product.
Those emails from readers telling you how much they enjoyed your book. As for
the worst, I’d have to say the ever changing publishing world. Once I get the
hang of something it changes. It’s a never ending cycle.
What inspires you to write?
What doesn’t?
Inspiration hits at all times and from the most random of things. I once wrote
an entire detailed outline in 10 minutes between appointments at work for a
novel that had nothing to do with anything I was currently working on. My
previous appointment had said something that just clicked with me. I still have
the scribbly pages with margin notes and arrows galore waiting for the day I
put it into action.
How did you conduct your research for **Swelter**?
As a
librarian-in-training, I scoff at the thought of research. Getting lost in the
rabbit hole of databases and Boolean phrases is just another Thursday night to
me. I tend to research as I write. I’ll stop mid-sentence and run off to search
a particular tree native to the area for an hour before coming back and
finishing off the line.
What type
of author would you categorize yourself as, a plotter (one who plots the story
from beginning to end), or a pantser (one who lets the story take shape without
meticulous planning)?
Oh, I’m a
plotter all the way. I tried pantsing it for my first book and I hit so many
road blocks it was frustrating. I work best by outlining my book, usually in
one sitting and scribbled on the back of whatever paper I can find at the most
inconvenient time and place because that’s how my mind rolls. I then type it up
so it’s legible and tend to add a lot to it then. My outlines are pretty
detailed but yet leave a lot of room to play. They also have a lot of dialog in
them. Usually, I’m also in the middle of writing something else and probably
have three or four other books already outlined waiting to be typed up or
written.
Are reader reviews important to you? Why?
Yes and no. I love to hear what they have to say but I
learned fast in my first year of being published to keep a thick skin and take
reviews with a grain of salt. Not everyone is going to like your plot or
writing style but those who do are loyal and wonderful and make it all worth
it.
Tell us about your other books?
My other series is a wolf shifter romance. It’s about a pack
of wolves trying to fight for their secrecy. There are a group of their kind
called Canidae who think the wolf should rule more than the human and want to
stop hiding from the world. The first book, Too Far gone, introduces the pack
but follows the enforcer who had gone feral after a tragic accident. He is
found by a woman who was new to town and kind of adopts this wolf who liked to
hang around. In a twist of fate, she is attacked by one of these Canidae wolves
and extreme measures are taken to save her life. Each story in the series has a
HEA and no cliffhangers. (I HATE cliffhangers.)
I also write under the name Charlotte Casey with
contemporary romance. Just released my first rockstar romance book, Chance
(Rusted and Reckless).
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would
like readers to know what would it be?
Uh, I don’t know. I
think I shared a few things above that are good to know about me. I guess I’ll
add that I am a nerd and love to talk to other nerds. In fact, I am Head Nerd
of my group of friends and even have a Nerd Card, which I carry with me in my
wallet.
Well, I have homework to get to. It was
nice chatting with you! I am thrilled to be part of the Prowlers and Growlers
set and can’t wait to read all the stories.

K.C. Stewart is the self published author of the Hailey Holloway series and most recently, the Adirondack Pack series. All her life she had fantasized and day-dreamed on a regular basis but it wasn’t until she began writing short stories that she made those fantasies a reality. She has graduated to novels but still dabbles in the occasional flash fiction and short story. Because of her love for reading and the written word, K.C. is currently continuing her education at Clarion University for Library Science. When she isn’t taking photographs, studying or writing, she is supporting a very real gummy bear habit. Currently, she lives with her boyfriend, german shepherds and cats in central Pennsylvania.

When the Snow Flies
by
Kiki Howell and Gina Kincade
USA Today Bestselling and Award Winning Authors
@KikiHowell7 and @GinaKincade

On a spiritual journey to heal after a tragic accident, Anna thought the worst that could happen while walking in a labyrinth was to be taken by a stranger. A human stranger. Little did she know her meditation would capture the attention of dragons.

A few more
deep breaths later, she shivered violently, but began her trek around the
labyrinth. She stumbled over the stones that edged the pathway a few times when
patches of clouds blocked out the moon’s light. Looking up, she expected to
just see a glimmer of white brilliance fighting to shine through the delicate
filaments that had become infused with dark grey matter. Instead, a shadow flew
over her. One too large to be anything her mind could figure out.
She hadn’t
realized that she’d fallen to a crouch until her body swayed as she looked up,
trying to get a better impression of what had to be a plane or something
descending to the earth. Strangely, she hadn’t heard a sound. In fact, the
eerie silence unnerved her further. Her trembling fingers pressed against the
frigid dirt as her only source of support. Falling to her butt as her gaze
followed the tremendous mass, she made out a body too rounded for a plane, with
wings too animal-like to be inanimate. In a split second, a scream lodged in
her throat as the wing things flapped, rustling the tree branches with sudden
gusts of air. A long tail seemed to follow behind, swinging to one side as it
glided effortlessly around to come back her way, losing altitude as the thing
moved.
She stayed
in that odd position, seated on the ground, body curled up, with one arm back
behind her holding her up as she used the other one to cover her face while the
ground shook beneath her when the beast landed maybe ten feet away. With her
heart pounding so hard she could hear the erratic beat of the damned thing in
her head, she blinked several times as the image before her registered to
fantastical proportions. The fact that Anna saw something out of a storybook or
a fairy tale made the only sense her perceptions could come up with, and that
unnerved her. So much so, she was wound up like a clock about to explode,
spewing gears and gadgets all over the place. The analogy for her head being
about to explode based on an image from an old cartoon she’d watched as a child
gave her pause. A moment of lunacy that served as a much needed reprieve, since
reality didn’t make any sense at all.
Coping
mechanisms. She’d heard a lot about them in therapy. In fact, she’d basically
left the practice since she hadn’t been ready to give them up. Snippets of
songs would come into her head now, memories from childhood of dancing like a
loon in the kitchen with her mother when holidays provided long days of baking.
These created a preoccupation with remembering every word of the tune, looking
up the video, studying the career of the singer, all in an attempt to calm the
sudden onslaught of tears. To numb the painful ache in her chest.
At times,
she raged at her body. Her heart had the audacity to feel like it had stopped
beating, if even for a second. Her lungs deflated, ceased to do their job. All
of these sensations served as a tease when she had to remain in this life, too
squeamish, too much a coward, to end her own existence though she’d failed
their suicide test more than a few times. The desire to find peace in the
afterlife with her lost family got trampled by a lesson on suicide and sin her
mother had once taught her. Though, she didn’t even know what or if she
believed anymore as far as beliefs went, anything to do with faith and religion..
The closest thing she’d come to prayer was the screaming in her head. The
raging at some invisible entity around her so-called life.
This
confusion continued, rattling her to her core, as this thing, whatever the hell
it was—and hell born it could be, given its monstrous size and shape—stared at
her. Metal-colored eyes glistened in the faint, cloud-infused moonlight. The
size of footballs, they blinked in a never-ending gaze that mesmerized her. The
world seemed to spin as millions of overacting nerve cells tensed her muscles
to run. Yet, she didn’t move for some strange fear of being swallowed up whole
or burnt to a crisp like in those stories of dragons. Sadly, as her eyes
focused, the more this thing as tall as a house resembled just such a mythic
creature. It seemed the fundamental law guiding her decision to remain a statue
was the thought that if prey moved, it got eaten.

Kiki & Gina
Kiki: Hello! Thanks for having us.
Gina: Yes, thank you for having us both on. We are a team again for
this one.
How long have you been a writer and
how did you come to writing?
Kiki:
Well, we have been writing together for a few years now.
Gina: But, separately we have been writing much, much longer.
How did you come up with this
storyline?
Gina: We toss back and
forth ideas all the time. I think this time that Kiki came up with an idea
about a dragon shifter, and the whole labyrinth, healing meditation, thing.
Kiki: Yes, I actually have this
non-fiction book of spells to contact dragons. In it the lady tells you all
about the dragons she met that way. So, I found the book interesting and
inspiring. Then, Gina started building off of my idea, and off we went again!!!
What are the best and the worst
aspects of writing?
Kiki: I would say
editing and blurb writing, but Gina is great at both of those, so again,
another reason we work so well together.
What inspires you to write?
Gina: I think I can answer for both of
us when I say, anything and everything is fair game. And, some of the stuff is
just a wild imagination that never stops. We’ve discussed this before.
How did you conduct your research
for **When the Snow Flies**?
Kiki: Well, I will admit to being the research junkie. Spend way too much
time doing so. Mostly books I get my magic information from, but internet
searches helps too. A perk of writing paranormal is the info on the internet
need not be true. *winks*
What are 3 of your favorite quotes
from **When the Snow Flies**?
Gina:
Now that would be like asking us which is our favorite child.
What would your friends say is your
best quality?
Kiki: I met Gina when
she read one of my stories about ten years ago now. Next she published one of
my stories. Beyond the work relationship though, we became quick friends. She
is so caring, so willing to listen, to offer help, professionally and
personally. She is trustworthy, a workaholic, and just has such a big heart.
She does so much for so many.
Gina:
Kiki and I are a lot alike, in so many ways, and all those things she listed
about me, I could say of her, and then go on and on about how sweet she is, how
willing to work, etc. I just wish she lived closer.
Kiki: Me too. *hugs*
Are reader reviews important to
you? Why?
Gina: Of course. They are
everything. I don’t think anyone realizes how much they help authors. And,
while reading a good review is amazing, an author can use even the bad one
constructively in future writing.
What do you do when you don’t
write? Like in “Real Life” Kiki: For
me, I spend time with family, read, knit or other crafts when I’m lucky enough
to find the time, and have become obsessed with the adult coloring books. Oh,
and I started teaching yoga recently.
Gina:
My kids are younger than Kiki’s, well two of them are, so lots of time taking
care of family, I love to cook, and read of course. Lots of other things I
could list if only I had the time to do them.
Tell us about your other books?
Kiki: We have written two other
paranormal stories together, which are novel length.
What Lies Within Us
On Amazon
and
A
Modern Day Witch Hunt
On Amazon
Gina: We have also written a novella
called
Cowboy Boots and Handcuffs
On Amazon
the first
in a planned collection of steamy contemporary western romance books
Gina: Thanks again for having us both on
today.

Coming Soon
Adirondack Shifters, book 1
Coming August 2017
Bear shifter, Emilie Williams is a Virgo through and through. Not only is she reliable, intelligent, and modest, but she’s also overly meticulous, cautious, and cranky at times–all qualities that tend to get her in trouble. After relocating to keep her identity a secret, she never expects to fall for a rugged, gorgeous wolf, who happens to have a delicious bite.
Carter Bennett has never met anyone like her. As a cop, his job is to keep the peace, but all he wants is a piece of Emilie. And when Emilie’s past slaps him in the face, Carter knows it’s time to walk away. But walking away from the one woman who sets him on fire is harder than he ever imagined. Now, it’s up to him to break down the walls Emilie builds around herself–even if it’s the last thing he ever does. However, he just might need a sledgehammer to do it.
