Christmas books already!
I can't believe we're already releasing Christmas books, but I love everything about the season so I don't mind getting started early. You may have read these two Christmas books before. Christmas Makeover was originally published in Christmas Kisses: An Echo Ridge Romance, but is now for sale on its own. Also, if you sign up for my newsletter on the form below you can receive a free copy of Full Court Devotion, which was originally published in Christmas in Snow Valley. I found out that my old newsletter carrier was not confirming sign ups, so if you have signed up before but aren't getting newsletters from me every couple of weeks, please sign up again.

Chelsea Jamison has been infatuated with Drew Stirling longer than she's loved playing basketball, high-top sneakers, and the Knicks. Unfortunately, all Drew sees is the kid who kicked his trash in the high school free throw contest and not the girl whose heart breaks into a fast dribble when he's near.
Drew makes an unexpected visit home to Echo Ridge and their friendship picks up where they left off as they scheme to make a teenaged boy's Christmas dreams come true. When Chelsea realizes she's fallen for her best friend, she wonders if there is any hope of a relationship with Drew or if she's stuck in buddy-status for life.
New release and as always some great advice from my fabulous friend, Connie Sokol.

Keira Kenworth has one focus this holiday
season: save her father's old-time department store from bankruptcy. She is not
focused on Tayton Wells, the tall, dark, and genius marketing guru from
downtown New York, hired to make it happen. He is as doubtful that her
nostalgic connect-the-town ideas will succeed as she is about his numbers-first
plan. However, it's not just their different approaches that cause sparks to
fly. Working together on a fast deadline to save the store before Christmas,
the unspoken connection between them grows. But will the tough decisions they
face drive them back to their separate worlds, or will they lead to the
beginning of love?

The Adventurous One by Jeanette Lewis

Taylor Medlin may have taken the billionaire bride pact when she was a teenager at Camp Wallakee, but she wasn’t thinking about that when she married the man of her dreams several years later. And she certainly wasn’t thinking about the pact when she signed the divorce papers after only eighteen months.
Once burned, twice shy, Taylor has sworn off romance until a family emergency pulls her home to Sioux Falls and into the arms of old friend, Lane Carter. But Lane has his own demons and he and Taylor must decide whether the past will bring them together, or tear them apart.
I loved this fun, romantic, and touching story. Lane deals so well with his amputations and prosthetics, but he still has to deal with them. I hope you love the book as much as I do.

The Masquerading Groom by Taylor Hart
I am absolutely in love with Taylor Hart's books. The Masquerading Groom is just as fun, romantic, and touching as the others. When I read the description about her recovering from surgery I kind of thought, Oh, gross, I've been there and there's nothing romantic about it! Well, with Sterling Pennington involved it is romantic, but it is also so real and I love that. Sterling's always worn a mask and to see it stripped away and him helping Sayla through such a hard time. That's real romance. Loved it!
When Sterling Pennington, movie star/billionaire extraordinaire, gets stuck with a paid date at a masquerade party...he's not happy. Too bad his agent doesn't want the press to think he's lonely after the pretend break up with his latest co-star. The arrangement makes him feel like a loser, until he sees the woman in the sequined dress.
Sayla Jones made it clear she would only take this date if the egocentric movie star knew he got three hours before she turned into a pumpkin. That's all. She never imagined she might actually connect with him, or that he would kiss her. Good thing she slapped him for good measure.
Sterling never expected to see Sayla again, and he really wasn't expecting to find her at the hospital. The next thing he knows, he's taking her home and spending the next four days cooking, listening to Neil Diamond on a record player, and putting braids in her hair. His feelings intensify when he finds himself admitting out loud, she even looks cute while drooling in her sleep. What's happening to him?
When Sayla confesses she believes they are too different to make it work, Sterling is faced with a choice--fight for her or live alone in the world of masks forever.

My crazy Half Ironman
For my 42nd birthday I decided I wanted to do a half Ironman. The problem: I'm pretty pathetic at swimming and biking. I had no desire to participate in an organized event. So I made up my own.
I started with the 13.1 mile run at 5 a.m. on Friday morning. It was just me and the moon out there. It was a beautiful run and I made it back to my house feeling great. I ate a little bit, took a bath, changed my clothes, and headed out on the bike. I did 30 miles at the gym on a spin bike and 26 miles on my beach cruiser. Yes, I realize I'm crazy not to use a road bike, but I was grinning the entire ride. It was a gorgeous seventy degrees and all I could think about was how pretty Cache Valley is and how blessed I am to be healthy. I made it home and was starving. I ate a little bit, did some writing work while my food processed then jumped in the pool. The 1.2 mile swim was relaxing.
I felt great the entire time and would do the event again tomorrow (if I had the time and my family didn't shoot me).
I realize the true triathletes and Iron man participants would laugh at my event and that's fine. I did it in the wrong order and I took breaks in between, but it honestly was a fun and relaxing day and one of the best birthday presents I've ever given myself.
What events do you like to participate in - run, bike, swim, a combo, or something completely different?

Pumpkin Zucchini Bread
I am absolutely in love with zucchini, but my four boys are begging for something else for dinner. My garden is going crazy producing and since no one else will take my zucchini (I tried putting it in front seats of cars at the grocery store and set off a few alarms) I've resorted to hiding it in everything from pancakes to cookies. Our favorite - zucchini pumpkin bread. I stole the recipe from Taste of Home, but of course I adapted it (I can't follow a recipe to save my life).
Ingredients
3 eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup shredded zucchini
12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (it's a lot of chocolate, but we had to negate the health benefits of zucchini and pumpkin somehow)
Directions
In a bowl, combine eggs and sugar. Add pumpkin, butter and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to pumpkin mixture and mix well. Stir in zucchini and nuts. Pour into two greased and floured 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until breads test done. Cool in pans 10 minutes. Remove to a wire rack. Yield: 2 loaves.
Originally published as Pumpkin Zucchini Bread in Bountiful Harvest Cookbook 1994, p25
I also had to share about my darling friends' new book release. I love Jennifer and Sandra's suspense books and this romance was every bit as good! The heroine is such a sweetheart and is willing to sacrifice herself for her family. The hero is... dreamy. Loved him! Also, the setting - Hawaii - surf lessons, walks on the beach. Can we go there, please?

The Protective One: A Billionaire Bride Pact Romance
I'm thrilled to release the sixth Billionaire Bride Pact Romance, The Protective One. I had a great time researching this book in the beautiful valley of Crested Butte, Colorado with my mom, dad, and little sister. We also loved doing the cover.
The picture is my oldest son and his adorable prom date. They were such a fun and sweet couple. I had to include a picture of their faces for you too. I know I'm prejudiced, but aren't they adorable? We took picture after picture of their shoes and they patiently posed, even when we'd say, "Hold her closer." Great mom and aunt trying to get the teenagers to snuggle up!

Excerpt from The Protective One:
The only way MacKenzie would be safe to go home again was when she heard that Solomon Squire had been booked into a maximum security prison where he belonged. She sighed, hoping that day would come soon, but forcing herself to acknowledge it might never come.
“You keep pulling that face and it’ll stick that way.” The slow drawl of Haley’s older brother, Isaac, from the open doorway made her stomach smolder, and that ticked her off almost as much as the insult, but at least she didn’t jump in fear at a man’s voice.
“Maybe I like my face this way.” She stood to face him and wished his looks were as off-putting as his sarcastic personality. But no, his face was perfect—olive skin, manly lines, and those green eyes that drew her in. Of course he had to have dark hair with just the right amount of curl and beefy muscles in all the right places.
Isaac reached up and touched the skin next to her mouth. She tingled and tried to back away, but ran into the shelf. His hand dropped to his side.
“You look stressed.”
“Thanks. Such a compliment.”
“I’m sorry.” He shoved a hand through his curls. “Haley would kick me in the pants if she knew you were unhappy. Take a break. I’ll watch the shop for a while.”
MacKenzie’s eyebrows rose. “When did you decide to play nice?”
Isaac scowled. “You still mad at me because I called you one of the gold diggers?”
“Oh, big surprise that I would take offense to that.” They’d met for the second time in over ten years when Haley had brought MacKenzie into the store to train her. The only downside of this escape plan was she’d been so excited to see Isaac again. He was her first—not to mention most amazing—kiss at the very mature age of fourteen. He hadn’t remembered her or the kiss and that alone had about taken her under. His first line to her was, “Oh, another one of Haley’s gold digger friends looking for a billionaire.” What a jerk. A heartbreaking, much-too-good-looking jerk.
“Hey, I’m sorry, all right?” He glanced at the display over her shoulder. “Don’t get all offended.”
“Don’t get all offended?” MacKenzie pushed around him, but unfortunately brushed against his muscular arm. She felt the connection all the way down to her toes and it frustrated her even more.
If you haven't had a chance to read Caribbean Rescue it's a fun, romantic escape to the Caribbean. I'm dying now to rent a private island someday. We have to dream big, right?
The book is available for only $2.99 or a free borrow if you have Amazon prime or Amazon lending library.

School is In
I'm mourning the end of summer and start of school. Hopefully soon I'll catch the excitement of all of us being back in productive/get our lazy selves out of bed in the morning mode. We have boys ranging from Kindergarten to a Senior in high school. It's insane and hard on the momma to let them go. I think I need to reconsider allowing them to grow up!
I am excited that with the start of school I'll be releasing a new book soon (September 6th). It's the next in the Billionaire Bride Pact series, The Protective One, and because I made a mistake and set the book in a gorgeous valley that I'd never been to before I got the opportunity to do a research trip with my mom, sister, and dad. It was fabulous! How often as an adult do you get to hang out with your parents and favorite sibling (don't tell my brothers). Here are a few pics of our trip that sadly don't do the scenery justice.

The cover for The Protective One was a fun photo shoot. The picture is my oldest son and his adorable prom date. They were such a beautiful couple and so sweet as well. We took picture after picture of their shoes and they patiently posed, even when we'd say, "Hold her closer." Great mom and aunt trying to get the teenagers to snuggle up!
I hope you have a great start to the school year!

Welcome to Echo Ridge, New York where romance finds its way into the hearts and lives of the people who walk the streets of the close-knit community.
In these five novellas, readers will experience the power a book has to change a life, make dreams come true, and bring two hearts together as the characters work to fill the classic section of the library. Filled with charm, wit, secrets, and hope, each story is a sweet romance with a promise to keep you turning pages into the night. We hope you enjoy this book and the kisses between the lines.
The Kiss Thief by Rachelle J. Christensen
As the head librarian of the Echo Ridge Library, Britta Klein thrives on order and categorization. Unfortunately, the old church-turned-library is in desperate need of a renovation. The Harvest Hurrah fundraiser seems to be the answer, but plans keep going awry. With help from Milo Geissler, accomplished musician, piano tuner, and kiss thief, each catastrophe is narrowly avoided. Britta’s heart refuses to be swayed by his help, personal attention, or his irresistible dimpled smile. When Milo goes to great lengths to help Britta find a key classic book, she begins to wonder if there is more to life than books and order. Can she allow this man who speaks the language of music to tune her heart to a new song?
The Lion, The Witch, & The Library by Lucy McConnell
Jennifer Solomon's birthday wish is for the one thing she's been too shy to go after: Kirke Staples, Echo Ridge’s resident playwright, an avid mountain biker, and her best friend. Friend, as in don’t kiss, don’t covet, and don’t under any circumstances fall in love with the man. But it’s too late—she’s already fallen in love. Hoping for a birthday kiss that will change everything, she arranges an "accidental" meeting with the handsomest man on the library board. Her carefully laid plans are thrown off track when the beautiful Bay Barington sweeps into town and casts a spell over Kirke. In her efforts to win Kirke’s heart, Jennifer is forced to take a look at her inner self and decide what type of woman she wants to be, a lion or witch.
The Last of the Gentlemen by Cami Checketts
Despite the hardships she’s faced, Emma Turner, is determined to make a good life for her three children. Working nights and struggling through life doesn’t leave much time for romance, which is just fine as far as Emma is concerned. But when her son's good-looking lacrosse coach takes an interest in her children, Emma has to fight off the smolder in her stomach and banish her daydreams. This school-girl crush needs to end before she embarrasses her son and herself. If only she could tell that to her heart.
Much Ado About a Kiss by Heather Tullis
Fay’s life is just fine, thank you. Running the café she’d practically been raised in: Check. Her artwork in a gallery: Check. Volunteering on the library board: Check. The one thing she doesn’t need right now is a guy in her life—especially her brother’s irritating best friend from high school, so when the two men announce that they are moving home to start a ski and mountain bike shop in town, she isn’t pleased. If only she could completely forget that one kiss she and Austin shared in high school, and the way it made her heart flutter when she thought about it. Why does he have to upset her just-fine world? Not this time. Not if she can help it. But can she?
Pride & Persuasion by Connie E. Sokol
Lindy Marchant has left heartbreak and downtown L.A. to help her cousin kickstart an antique shop in sleepy Echo Ridge. That is, until she's roped into the library fundraiser to become an assistant for Armand D. Beaumont, the French bestselling detective writer. The two have met before, and Lindy hasn't forgotten the disastrous outcome. Now Armand's celebrity quirks threaten to upset her life yet again. Or, is there a deeper reason for his unpredictable choices? While Armand inadvertently assists Lindy with the shop, she uncovers his painful truth and an inconvenient growing attraction. As Lindy's L.A. past catches up with her, decisions must be made. Can Armand let go of his pride and face his fears? And can Lindy be persuaded to take the untried road, even together?
“Kisses Between the Lines is the perfect book to get lost in on a cool autumn night. It's full of toe curling kisses and sigh worthy moments. If you enjoy sweet romance then do yourself a favor and pick up this latest edition in the Echo Ridge Anthologies.”

My Review:
I love all of Nancy Campbell Allen's books so I was thrilled when Deseret Book asked me to review this one. I have to admit, I didn't read the description and had absolutely no clue that it was steampunk, not a genre I normally enjoy. It took me a few chapters to fall in love with the book and the characters, but fall in love I did. I absolutely devoured the book and am hoping there will be more stories in the series, starting with Lucy's brother please.
