New book review posted!

Good morning, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Here’s the opening to my thoughts on Whisper Me This by Kelly Anne King:

When a woman gets a disturbing phone call about her parents, she discovers family secrets that make her question her childhood. As she and the rest of the family work through the emotional and physical pain, they must decide whether they will face the past together or suffer individually. Author Kerry Anne King drives right to the heart of grief and difficult questions in the excellent, compelling novel Whisper Me This.

And the time travel continues…

Good morning, Write Edge readers! As you can probably tell from my Instagram posts, I’m still on vacation. But never fear! Our pseudo experiment in time travel continues. :>

First, this week’s motivational quote. I feel like people in creative fields might have a slightly better handle on the concept presented in this week’s quote than non-creatives, just by the nature of our work, although anyone is capable of following the advice. It’s a matter of keeping one’s eyes — and heart — open.

“Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder.”—E.B. White

As my semi-hiatus continues, I won’t have new fiction for you today, but there will be another book review for you this week. Find out what I thought about Whisper Me This by Kelly Anne King. You’ll see that review pop up on Wednesday on The Write Edge Bookshelf.

And, of course, Instagram. I think Norway definitely qualifies as a place that inspires and induces wonder in a person. Not so sure? Check out my Instagram pics with my handle, @EktaRGarg or by visiting my Facebook author page.

Have a fantastic week, readers!

Book review now up!

Good morning, Write Edge readers! My latest book review is now up for you. Check out the opening to my thoughts on A Murder on Jane Street by Cathy Cash Spellman:

When an elderly woman is murdered, her ex-cop neighbor investigates the strange circumstances. The deeper he digs into her life, the more he realizes his neighbor was anything but an ordinary person. As his family and friends pitch in to help solve the case, they’ll find themselves on high alert in the middle of a larger plot. Veteran author Cathy Cash Spellman debuts in the mystery/thriller genre with the well-intentioned but wieldy, bulky novel A Murder on Jane Street.

Newest book review now up!

Good morning, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on Layover by David Bell. Here’s the start of my review:

A man meets a woman in the airport and can’t stop thinking about her. He changes all of his plans on the spur of the moment, causing upheaval in his itinerary and his life, and pursues her until she stops long enough to answer his questions. Author David Bell keeps readers moving from one location to another in the mostly satisfying novel Layover.

The impending “Hiatus on a half shell”

Good morning, Write Edge readers! My family and I leave for vacation this week, so as I mentioned last Monday I won’t be posting new short stories or Growth Charts this month. I will, however, have a few new book reviews for you, and I’ll share some inspirational quotes. After all, our minds may take time off, but our creativity almost never does.

Here’s this week’s quote. I think it’s a great reminder not to rest on our laurels but also not to dwell on our failures. If we make diligent efforts to improve ourselves in our life’s passions, our past work should reassure us that we’re getting better every year.

“Don’t live life in the past lane.” —Samantha Ettus, American author, advisor, the Forbes School of Business & Technology

In the middle of the week, I’ll let you know what I thought of the new thriller Layover by David Bell. Come back to The Write Edge Bookshelf on Wednesday to see that review!

And I may not be posting all of the written content here this month, but I’ll be in touch via Instagram. If you haven’t seen my other posts there yet, check them out with my handle, @EktaRGarg or visit my Facebook author page for my Instagram pics and other fun stuff.

Have a fantastic week, readers!

Book review posted!

Good morning, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Here’s the opening to my thoughts on The Escape Room by Megan Goldin:

When four executives get trapped in an escape room together, they realize that the challenge is more than just finding an exit. It’s about getting out alive. Author Megan Goldin deals her characters harsh circumstances but lets the plot slide toward the end of her debut novel The Escape Room.
