It’s Wednesday, which means our newest book review. This week I’m sharing my thoughts on the brand new release I Know You by Claire McGowan. Here’s the opening to my post:
A woman becomes a key suspect in a murder case based on her connection to another murder years earlier. While she knows she’s innocent in both situations, she also keeps secrets from those closest to her. Claire McGowan features fairly likeable characters in a plot that crawls until the somewhat predictable ending in her latest book I Know You.

Second review for today!
Good evening, readers! I have a second book review for you today, and this one is especially for my writer friends. Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi have spent years co-authoring books to help writers get better at the craft. The latest addition to their stable of writing manuals released yesterday; it’s called The Conflict Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Obstacles, Adversaries, and Inner Struggles, Volume 1. Below is the opening to my review.
If characters drive the story, then conflict operates as the engine to every tale. Keeping this tenet in mind, writing experts Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi return with their most ambitious, hefty thesaurus yet. The latest in their thesauruses of manuals and instruction tools for writers comes with a thoughtful examination of the place of conflict in a story.

First review of two up now!
Hello, Write Edge readers! I have two book reviews to share with you today, and the first is up now. Last week saw the release of We Are Not Like Them by co-authors Christine Pride and Jo Piazza. Here’s the opening to my post:
Two women of different races find their friendship tested after the shooting of a young Black person. They face the issue of identity and how race plays a role in every-day life while trying to maintain the relationships that mean the most to them. Authors Christine Pride and Jo Piazza tackle a subject of relevance to today’s cultural climate with cursory treatment in the surface-level book We Are Not Like Them.

Second week of October!
Hello, Write Edge readers! Welcome to the second full week of October. We’re hurtling toward the holiday season, and this one, in particular, is quite special to me because of the release if my novella, The Truth About Elves. I’m humbled and honored by the wonderful reviews it’s getting and the notes and pictures you all are sharing to let me know you’ve gotten your copies and are enjoying this story. Keep the notes and photos coming! And if you’d like more information on the novella, how to order it for yoruself, or would like to read reviews, go to my author website now!
Here on The Write Edge, we’re marching forward with our regular content. First, this week’s short story. I have to admit, I had a lot of fun with this one. When I saw the prompt, I thought I might go a more serious route. Then my fingers and imagination took me somewhere else. Here’s the excerpt:
“Good. Thank you. Now, as is very obvious, Stonehenge has gone missing.”
“Yes.”
“When did you first notice it gone?”
Read the whole story now on The Write Edge Writing Workshop!
In the middle of the week, I’ll share two brand new book reviews with you. The first will be a novel. I read last week’s release We Are Not Like Them by co-authors Christine Pride and Jo Piazza and will tell you first thing on Wednesday what I thought of the book.
Then, later in the day, I’ll share a review with special significance to writers. The dynamite duo of Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi have a brand new thesaurus lined up for release. The Conflict Thesaurus: Volume 1 comes out tomorrow. Find out on Wednesday what I thought about it. Both reviews are coming your way on The Write Edge Bookshelf!
Finally, Instagram Friday. I’ll share another quote from The Truth About Elves — new ones go up every week between now and Christmas Eve! — as well as other “bits and bobs” from my writing and non-writing life. Check out previous posts on my Facebook author page or by going to Instagram and using my handle, @EktaRGarg.

Book review now up!
Good morning, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on the thriller Nanny Needed by Georgina Cross. Check out the first ‘graph of my review:
A young woman with financial hardship takes a position as a nanny in an unusual family situation. The more time she spends with the family, the more her personal life comes under fire until she questions everything. Author Georgina Cross plans a variety of well-timed plot twists with weak characters in the fun thriller Nanny Needed.
