Teaching Our Kids Media Discernment
Christian parents often try to filter the media their kids consume, but how do we actually teach our children media discernment? It is one thing to guard their eyes and ears. But how do we also train them to identify the subtle and not-so-subtle messages that come from movies, TV, music, and video games.
Today we’re continuing our conversation from last week with Phillip Telfer, producer and co-director of the award-winning documentary, Captivated: Finding Freedom in a Media Captive Culture. Phillip is also the director of Media Talk 101, a Christian ministry dedicated to helping families learn to take their thoughts captive for Christ in a media saturated society.

In the modern world, media consumes our lives. From TVs to touchscreens, from text messages to tablets, media is part of our every day lives. How much is too much?
Today we are speaking with Phillip Telfer, founder of Media Talk 101. Media Talk 101 has been serving Christians and Christian families for over 10 years, talking about the importance of guarding not just what media we consume but how much we consume. As Christians we are called to “redeem the time” (Ephesians 5:16), but when our lives are dominated by media, this can prove very difficult.

3 Big Covenant Eyes Improvements
Covenant Eyes is pleased to announce three major improvements to our services.
Improvements to Your Online Account – When you sign into My Account, you can now see all the users on your account as tiles (they used to be just in a list). This will allow you to see and edit nearly every setting for each user all from that main user management screen.
Improvements to Accountability Reports – Our Report improvements include…
We gave the Reports a more modern look, making them easier to read.
We added a Summary module at the top of the Report so you know right away what items need closest attention.
We cleared up some of the confusing jargon on our Reports, making the language clearer.
Improvements to Our Android App – Next week we will have a beta version of our new Android Filter. This version provides protection on the most popular bowsers including Chrome, Browser, and Opera. Because we’re not able to filter every app yet, the Covenant Eyes Filter for Android will work best if combined with our built in App Locking feature.
