Yet Another Health Issue
So good news, back in December when I made my New Year’s Resolutions, one happened to the the generic stand by of losing weight. Well, I have lost 20-30 pounds. Yes I am still fat, but it is a start.
Now the bad news is, it is quite possible that I am a diabetic. Back in 2009 I had a near death experience that resulted in three surgeries, over 3 months in the hospital and an emergency medical evacuation on a tiny plane, just to have my gall bladder removed. In this time, I also had complications arise with my pancreas. Aside from all of that I am genetically inclined to diabetes on both sides of my family, and it would be just my luck to get it.
One of the signs or symptoms of a diabetic is unexplained weight loss. That is a definitive check on my roster. Increased thirst, well that happens from time to time. There are times where I just do not want to drink anything, then there are days where I can go through gallons and gallons of water and still be thirsty. Dry mouth…I’m not sure if it is due to the way I sleep or possible diabetes but I do tend to have a dry mouth in the mornings. Not really cotton mouth (worst thing ever) but really dry, throat gets stuck dry mouth. Frequent urination, yep. Increased hunger, not so much increased but a steady stream of not really feeling full. Fatigue, haven’t been sleeping well for weeks now and even before that was always tired. Again though, not sure if onset of diabetes or my already present sleep apnea. Blurred vision, have noticed an increase in little floaters in my eyes, and them becoming blurry for no reason. Finally headaches, yea I tend to get a few headaches here and there but does all of this mean I have diabetes?
Considering there are only one or two of the symptoms that I don’t have…probably. My whole life I have been told that I am borderline diabetic and if I don’t do something I will end up with diabetes. Obviously I never changed my ways and here I am 25 years old and with all my other health complications, I now have to worry about diabetes. Well I guess growing up helping my great-grandma manage hers is going to help me in the future.
HORRIFYING.

When a reader is deciding whether or not to buy a book, one of the things they look at is the reviews.
A lack of reviews can cause potential readers to move onto another book. Its obvious how important reviews are, but it can be tough to get reviews, especially for new books.
Chicken or the Egg?
Getting reviews is a lot like the classic Which came first: the chicken or the egg? puzzle. Its harder to get people to buy your book if you dont have reviews, but its hard to get reviews if people dont buy and read your book.
It can be tough, but it IS possible to get reviews. It does take some hustle and work to find people to review your book, but it can be done! Plus, by reaching out in unusual places to

Creepy Little Kids
Little kids are creepy, mainly because we are more susceptible to the paranormal at a young age than most are when they are older. All the time you hear stories of creepy things little kids have done or said that adults can’t wrap their head around. For example, one of my little brother’s, let’s call him Joe, was one or two when this happened. He was asleep in his room, and never had a tendency to sleep walk before or after this accident. My stepmother (his mom) got up and went into the kitchen because she said she heard a noise. In the kitchen, on the floor was Joe, sitting inside a perfectly made circle of every sharp knife we had in the house. She said she asked him what he was doing and she could tell he was still asleep, he said he was deciding which to use. For what, I’m not sure because I don’t remember the rest of the story.
As for my experiences as a little kid I just remember seeing ghosts walking around, or dreaming about what was going to happen the next day. Really kind of freaks you out when your dreams start coming true, even if it is just everything you do or say during school. I also remember being quite at home, or comfortable inside a cemetery. The church I went to had a cemetery across the street and we would use it for hide and seek, as a girl scout we went and made rubbings on the tombstones. Then a friend of mine also had a cemetery in her back yard that we played in. While the others would get a thrill out of being in a spooky cemetery and go around scaring each other, I was completely relaxed. Nothing bugged me, even though I could sit there and watch the different spirits walk around or even talk to some of them. I’ve always thought they were beautiful.

How can we test a best friend if she/ he is my soul mate?
Do my soul mate born on the same date I born? or she/he born after I me?
Do we have same age? Same Date of birth?

Poltergeist Remake
Coming this summer is the remake of Poltergeist. I’m usually not one for remakes, but I think that this one could be good. The original is claimed as one of the scariest movies of all time, but if you watch it now it seems a bit cheesy. The special effects were top of the line back in the early 80’s but now seem hokey. Think of what they could do now with our level of effects. The only thing that I think is missing is that woman with the little girl voice, who came into the movie as the medium. Zelda Rubinstein, was awesome! Her height and her voice just naturally brought a creepiness all her own to the movies she was in. It would be nice if she could have had an appearance in the remake, or the little girl from the original could have been in it but we will have to deal without them.

Im sure most of you are aware of the Under the Microscope series that posts once a week, where people anonymously send in the first 350 words of a given story to be publicly critiqued.
I wanted to let you all know that there are a few open slots coming up relatively soon. The people who have already submitted have been great about trickling them in. Since I started it months ago, Ive never had a lack of submissions to work on.

Stephen King
Yes, it is an entire post about the King of horror. The man is a genius when it comes to writing, and when his books become movies…well the nightmares continue.according to a short list of his material, I have read 31 out of 72 of his books. I know there are probably more that I have read that may not have been on the list, or I don’t remember, but still I think that is a nice starting number. I am of course always ready to read more. For Christmas I happened to get Joyland, but haven’t made it through my list to it yet. Here’s the page for the quiz if you would like to see your results: http://www.buzzfeed.com/louispeitzman/how-much-stephen-king-have-you-read#.bxbPlXdzYM
I would have to say that the movie “It” is my favorite because that is the first movie of his I watched. My favorite book would have to be…”Pet Sematary.” The book itself gave me nightmares and I had to stop reading it for awhile and go back to it so I could get some good sleep.
The book Cell is about cell phones attacking and one man sets out to find his family. Guess what?!? It is getting a movie! Plus one of my favorite actors is starring in the lead!! John Cusack, who also played in 1408 (another King creation) is going to be playing Clay Riddell, the man in search of his family. Samuel L. Jackson is joining him as a fellow traveler. Here is the first look at the movie: http://bloody-disgusting.com/images/3331231/first-look-stephen-kings-cell-rings/

How to Get Your Book Reviewed: Tips for Small Press and Self-Published Authors
Originally posted on Sound Bites with TyCobbsTeeth:
Book reviews are a great tool to increase book sales, they work much better than paid ads. While big publishers have their own, established venues of gathering reviews for their new releases, small press and self-published authors, who need reviews perhaps even more, often do not know where to turn.
In case if you are wondering why you should make an extra effort to have your book reviewed, the answer is simple: reviews sell books. Advertising has become ineffective these days; people are tired of paid ads and simply ignore them. You can pay hundreds, if not thousands, to place an ad for your book in some magazine and have little or no sales increase in return. Reviews, on the other hand, are regarded with much more attention. People trust book reviews because it is someones independent opinion.
