HEY SEATTLE AND NEARBY...

HEY SEATTLE AND NEARBY AREAS
Arcane Comics in Ballard is hosting Prophet bros Farel Dalrymple and Simon Roy on Friday, December 19th from 6-10pm. They’ll be here to promote their new books, The Wrenchies and Tiger Lung, respectively. Come party!
what do you think of the batgirl controversy? and yes, im baiting you into talking some shit.
I’m gonna attempt to sound half way reasonable on this one.
I know and like Cameron Stewart who writes that book, so take that for what it’s worth. but also some of the harshest critics I saw on that issue were trans women, like my homie Sarah Horrocks - And I think what she was saying was soooper valid. I think that Batgirl issue was a fuck up, it was cliche in a way that we just don’t need any more of.
but yeah, I think the apology was a good step. even better would be if someone along the line of 2 writers and artist, editor, letterer etc was like “WoAHH”
I have some faith that even if it’s not how I would play it, the Batgirl people are making an attempt to do better. It’s baby steps?—man, I seriously don’t know how anyone keeps wanting to make moves at those publishers. But I know you got people like Kelly Sue Deconnick actually making comics for women— with an interest in wanting that mainstream audience. and that’s worth something.
I dunno, the whole thing happened right after I’d had a long talk withTom Spurgeon, who is someone I have a great deal of respect for talking to me about how internet fights get to be about who wins rather than making things better— and that colored my whole take on things, as well as my own personal nepotism. I get to be casual about this because It doesn’t really affect me —but fuck it would suck to be transgender and just be used to having your identity used in entertainment like some kind of boogeyman. ugh…

When I was a kid, my older brother would have anime nights with his high school friends. Being much younger, I would have to sneak downstairs to watch with them. I totally remember seeing stuff like Macross Plus, Project A-Ko, and Ninja Scroll to name a fe
Oh yeah. I am in serious debt to my older brother, Keith. He’s two years older than me and an artist too— currently teaching print making deep in the Americas. (he did a couple comics in Meathaus too)
When I was a kid Keith was buying Moebius, Manara, Raw magazine Love and Rockets and all that. He got me my first Shonen Jump (with a city Hunter scene of a boner going through a cement wall) too.And also got me into a lot of the stuff like the UK Avengers and the Prisoner.
He moved on from a lot of that stuff but it all stuck with me.
I dunno if it was ever a shouldn’t have — he never showed me Manara or anything but I saw his copies. I have a memory of him and my mom arguing over the alien sex scene in the Moebius OBannon Long tomorrow. I don’t think she thought it was appropriate. hehehh

Check it out, I found a pic of the Midnight Marauders album cover without anything obstructing the heads.
If you think about it like a grid, the left to right axis is numbered 1 to 8. The top to bottom axis is labeled A through G. So, for example, Puff Daddy at the bottom left has the coordinates “G1.” And Busta Rhymes, in the checkered bandana, has the coordinates “B8.”
I’ve done my best to identify all the heads in this pic. Can anybody identify the ones I missed?
