Hey, how's it goin'? I'm curious about island. How's it gonna work? Will it be continuing stories like a weekly manga anthology or a mish-mash of awesome, varying comics? If it's the latter, will they be chosen at random or on some sort of submission basi
I’m good. I just made tea, because I found a mint thing I didn’t know I had.
Most of the stories in Island will run several (2 to 4) issues in 20 to 30 page chapters. And they’ll sometimes be breaks between chapters. Sooo say Warheads will run in issues 1 and 2 and then again in issue 5.
My goal is to make the comics in the magazine all work together in a vague aesthetic. Like a mish mash that all feel like they were chosen by the same person. In a lot of ways it’s like a much larger version of how I picked back up shorts for Prophet.
I don’t really want to go through submissions, & I certainly don’t wanna send rejection letters.ugh. A lot of the stuff in Island are people whose work I’ve been a fan of for a long time and just wanted to put together in the same place.

Dear Solas,
My bff had to make me a breakup playlist. Because of you. Even though you’re fictional? Still listening to it two months later, whatever.
You’re a jerk (ilu). Call me, bye.
MARRIANNNN!!
I drew a quick thing that my pal Sarah was talking about.

Starting my morning with an episode of SPIRAL ZONE!
look at how much stank the animators put on those lazer blasts.
A lot of fun stuff in this show. It has a nice bleak outlook where the whole world is being turned into mindless zombies (ZONERS) and they only have enough metal to make 7 suits that can survive the zone without the wearer being affected.
Also, the tools they have in this episode are cool. There’s a lazer rope they use and a backpack that transforms into a standing vehicle. like a lil back pack segway but cooler.

joekeatinge:Just saw these photos from Isotope’s steinerfrommars...

Just saw these photos from Isotope’s steinerfrommars + royalboiler signing right after Image Expo. I stopped by for a short bit in between checking old haunts around San Francisco and had a blast, even drew on one of those toilet seats. That was a huge honor for me.
I used to live in San Francisco, from about 2003 until 2010, until I went freelance and headed up north. Early in my tenure there I stopped by Isotope with my buddy Mark, was immediately offered a Sessions beer and felt right at home. In the time since it became a second home, meeting folks like iamdavidbrothers and ronxo when we were all Comic Book Babies long before we all joined the imagecomics family. I met friends I’d have for life there — in fact, I went to the wedding of one of them a couple of years ago.
So, I was really touched when James Sime, proprietor of Isotope, said it was time I draw on one of their toilet seats for their museum. Hence the 2003 - 2015. I’m not a dead twelve-year-old.
Of course, I went super classy, because I am a gentleman.
Anyway, Isotope is a great shop. I miss the store a ton and the community there even more so.
This was a fun signing with rad people.

What's your opinion about Tula Lotay? Do you like her work on Supreme? Have you met her in any expo or comicon? Happy New Year to you and Marian :)
I really like how she draws. I only read the 1st issue of Supreme and was kind of unsure where it was going, but I’m sure I’ll get back to it.
Her stuff hits the same part of my brain as Ming Doyle’s work— artists who are great at drawing fashionable ladies. (On a side note: I was just looking at Little Thunder’s stuff ) Or Angie Wang with how she draws fashion. man sooo much amazing work being produced now.
I met Tula at The excellent Thought Bubble Festival that she runs and she seemed really cool.

I was doing an art demo on a projector to a group of high school students. I opened up my browser and tumblr was open. First image they see projected onto the screen is the SLIP SHINE illustration you posted for the guy asking about your porn comics. So ye
Heheh. sorry surry. I am a menace. They have to learn about Slipshine sometime though.
