Is it safe to assume that the reappearing theme of astronauts on the cover of Island is an intentional motif? I know so far each is a different artist, but I wondered how much direction you give them as far as representing the contents of the book? I feel

I did it on #1 as a nod to the space suit I did on the cover of King city #1–which was a nod to the Paul pope Solo cover.

Farel and Gael might’ve gone off of the space man I drew on #1 but our conversations about it never got into that. They were more like “wanna do a cover?” “ok” Gael sent some ideas and I told him he was free to make it even weirder and that’s when he did his awesome space man Island cover.

This may be a weird question: what is your daily schedule like? I've been struggling with motivation a bit lately, and I feel like it would help me to have more structure and discipline in my life.

I don’t really follow a regular work schedule.

A lot of what I do with drawing and writing is about trying to forget that it’s work–or putting any value on it that it’s better than watching, reading or playing a game.

I do like to go to cafes to think away from a computer. and I keep a lot of paper reference around so I don’t get too caught up in looking images up.  I do a lot of planning in coffee shops–layouts and such. also once I know what I’m drawing audio books are really good for keeping me in my chair drawing.–also some days I like to do quick redraws of photos or art I like and I do stuff like focusing on how much I like just making lines on paper.

I feel like motivation is like fuel and sometimes you have to find new sources or ways to just get into the moment to moment craft of it (I call that kind of drawing

washing dishes ) in order to aim for making something that expresses how you feel about the world around you.

If you could play video games with Onta's Marty, what video game would you play with him?

Tetris Attack. He doesn’t strike me as a Doom or Street fighter dude.

Hey Brandon! Are Moontoone and his boyfriend in an open relationship? There were sure a lot of other dudes in their bed. Btw, I'm super glad Warheads is back and the rest of Island is pretty good too.

They’re in what started as a polyamorous 5 dude relationship.but have paired off in recent years. (also thanks– I’m glad to be getting MW out again)–they all live together and are pals still but Moontoone and Sunshine are pretty much an exclusive couple now.

Here’s a not quite finished page from Ghost town #2
