Hello there! I was wondering what your opinion is on fans roleplaying as characters from your stories? I know that some authors prefer fans don't do this, but some authors are okay with it and even embrace it. What is your personal opinion on this matter?

I’m absolutely fine with it. I think it’s cool that readers enjoy the characters enough to want to role-play them :)

Hi! I just read up on Atoning. I was wondering if Simon,Tori,Corey, Annie and more of Ash will be making an appearence in it at all? Im really hoping for Simon, Tori, Corey and Annie to play a part! But I can undertand if its just abt the main group!

We briefly see Simon and Tori, and some interaction with them. Corey and Annie only got a mention–I had to choose who to give on-stage time to, and with Chloe narrating, it made sense to give preference to the DP kids for those smaller walk-on roles.

Hey Kelley! I'm a huge fan and I was wondering if in Otherworld Nights it says that Hidden will be in it, but will it include the illustrations as well?

No, the anthology versions don’t have the illustrations. They’re reprints and the art belongs to Subterranean Press–rightly so. Also, putting full color art into the anthologies would increase their price.

Hello! Is the Darkest Powers series ever going to be made into a TV show/movie? They're quite possibly my favourite books I've ever read and I think it would be incredible if they were brought to life!

Both the Darkest Powers and Darkness Rising trilogies are under option to companies looking to make them into TV shows. I don’t mention that unless I’m asked directly, because the chance of it turning into an actual show is very low :) Getting optioned is common; getting a show/movie is rare.

Will you be writing anymore stories about Nadia? I loved the Nadia stafford collection but want more! I know your website says completed, but just curious if you'd ever go back to it

I wrote a Nadia/Jack novella earlier this year and I’m just getting around to editing it now. I’ll want to do a few rounds of edits, though, and my year has been a little nuts, so I won’t guarantee this before fall. Possibly late fall…

Okay, I’m back…temporarily :) It’s been a crazy 2015. Lots of stuff coming out this year and new contracts signed for future work, which is all good (awesome actually!) but it means scheduling triage, and social media falls below the writing stuff. I’ll answer a few questions, give away something and try to remember to come back :)

Ask the Author...Whoops!

In my last post, I was going off on internet sabbatical and answering some questions before I did. That was in February. March was “travel plus STILL editing” so I didn’t post on Tumblr. Nor did I receive any Asks, so I just kinda ignored it :) Logged in today and saw a bunch of new Asks. Turns out there must have been some Tumblr changes that turned off my “notify me of new Asks.” So that’s why it’s been so quiet :) I’ll start getting caught up on those next week. Sorry!

I also forgot to post this cover before I “leave.” You may remember Atoning was my 2014 online novella. It’s now in the process of becoming an ebook novella for Subterranean Press, with proper cover art and interior illustrations (by Maurizio Manzieri, who also did my Angelic, Counterfeit Magic and Amityville Horrible)

Atoning is a Chloe/Derek novella. It takes place a year after The Rising.
