Starbase Indy Round Up
The Saturday after Thanksgiving, I wandered on down to Starbase Indy. I attend a couple of interesting panels: "Philosophy and Science Fiction" and "Forensic Science and Sherlock Holmes." In addition, I put on a NASA training astronaut uniform and listened to Dr. David Wolf give a talk (and heard a couple of amazing stories...like drilling a hole through the space station and getting trapped

KOP: A Review
I started KOP because I was led to it by an article about science fiction noir that I have, alas, forgotten. KOP is thoroughly noir, thoroughly science fiction. I was hooked immediately. Juno Mozambe is a dirty cop working for the Koba Office of Police (KOP), which he and his friend and chief, Paul, took over years ago. Koba is the primary city of the sweaty, dirty world of Lagarto.

Half Share: Review
A week or so ago, I posted my review of Nathan Lowell's Quarter Share. I have since listened to Half Share. I found the second book in this series decidedly less interesting than the first.
As in the first, this book lacks anything in the way traditional plotting. It has a plot, but if you want action, then this isn't the place to look. Character driven with activities and people that rarely

Marathon Updating
Last week, I took a couple of days off. If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen a couple of comments about marathon writing. I set aside my novel and poetry to revise The NOOK Book. The current edition you can get is the 3rd, but the 4th is what I was revising and working on. The new NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ released in late, late October and early November. Both devices are exceptional.

Quarter Share: A Review
A few weeks ago, I mentioned Podiobooks and listening to Nathan Lowell's Quarter Share. I have now finished listening to it.
Generally well written, this is in many regards a coming-of-age story. Ishmael Horatio Wang must make his way in life after the tragic passing of his mother. Forced to leave the planet he's grown up on, Wang joins the crew of the Lois McKendrick. The story is about him

Sammy Terry
Halloween has passed, but leading up to the date, several commercials from a local TV station featured Sammy Terry. Sammy Terry is a local TV personality. For many years during the 1980s, he hosted a late-night Friday show called Nightmare Theater. As a kid, I was given permission to stay up late on Friday nights. I recall watching many classic horror movies (and many forgotten horror movies)

Quantum Enigma
I finished reading Quantum Enigma: Physics Encounters Consciousness recently. First off, I found the book to be an excellent primer on the bizarreness of quantum mechanics (though, ultimately, I cannot verify the accuracy of their physics...only that it seemed to mesh with my own). It tackles the heart of the matter: what counts as an observation? Why is that important, because in the current

Pumpkin Patch
One of our favorite activities is visiting the pumpkin patch and carving up this year's idea. Gina with an IU pumpkin (yes, she's excited about IU basketball) and I went with Boba Fett.
Gina with glitter and giving a devilish laugh.
On the hayride to get our pumpkins.
