Updating The NOOK Book
I have begun updating existing content in the 3rd edition that will still be applicable for the 4th edition. I'm updating the content related to the NOOK apps and whatnot.
I am planning on more fully developing my coverage of the NOOK for Android app (I have, already, more thorough coverage of NOOK for iOS, though it needs some updating).
I'm looking forward to getting the new NOOK HDs at the

Why I Keep Notes

The other day, I had an idea I wanted to jot down. So I opened up Evernote, which I use to track a lot of my notes, and started putting it down. Before the age of smartphones, I carried little notebooks and a pen with me all the time. I filled many of them up with random lines, images--whatever was catching my imagination at that very moment.

LOOPER: A Quick Thought or Two
So a couple of weeks ago, I went to see Looper. I had high expectations for this movie, and it did not disappoint. I don't want to get into an extended review, but I did want to point out a few things about why I think this was a successful movie.
First, it was character based and it was what happened to the characters that provided an ongoing interest in how they dealt with situations, etc.

The First Book I Read
Perhaps more correctly...the first book I remember reading myself: The Mystery of Cabin Island. I have a vague memory of receiving this as a Christmas gift. I would read many of the Hardy Boys over the years.
Of course, my younger brother took a brown crayon and scribbled on the opening pages...and I've never let him forget that.

City of Pearl: Recommend
I cannot remember how I stumbled onto Karen Traviss's City of Pearl, this series. I have read it now, and I'll be moving on to the 2nd book. Very well written, very interesting story, great characters.

Timothy Zahn and Star Wars
Years ago, I read Timothy Zahn's Star Wars trilogy along with several of my friends (they were a bit ahead of me). I decided to re-read these recently because I had not gotten around to reading the follow up books that Zahn wrote for Star Wars, which I want to do in the near future.
I found re-reading these that they held up very well. The 20th Anniversary Edition includes a lot of notes by

Iain M. Banks and The Culture
Some how when I was reading science fiction in my youth, I missed Iain M. Banks's work, particularly the Culture series. Granted, Consider Phlebas was published in my junior year of high school. Still, to have missed this series until just last year is clearly a giant lapse on my part.
Of course, I am reading them now, though I have a ways to go before I get caught up. Banks may be the best
