Philip Marlow in "The Old Acquaintance" - Paperback Writer
Today is the beginning of a three day holiday weekend for Veterans Day in the U.S., so Panzer went out to find some entertainment for you.
It is a holiday for me.
Our traveling kitty boy stopped in at the Paperback Writer site where he found a Philip Marlowe old radio mystery episode in the Crime Cafe. It's titled "The Old Acquaintance" and is 31 minutes long including the intro by site owner Debbi Mack. It's free to listen to.
If you scroll down the page you'll find information about the episode, a link to download a PDF of the episode and information about how to support the site.

In Written Opinion, Judge Florence Pan Delivers Knockout Blow to PRH, S&S Merger - Publishers Weekly
Today, over at the Publishers Weekly site Panzer found a post about the judge's decision against the merger of Penguin Random House (PRH) and Simon and Schuster (S&S).
After all that reading it's nap time.
The post by Andrew Albanese lists the major points from Judge Pan's written opinion which was released yesterday. The judge listed the arguments of the Department of Justice's (DOJ) case which she used in making her decision against the merger. She also listed the arguments of the publisher's lawyers which she found not credible.
Panzer says, "Judge Pan put a lot of effort into her decision."
Note: This is a humongous post. Bring your lunch to eat during your reading.

Publishing Scotland Opens Translation Fund for International Publishers - Publishing Perspectives
Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he decided to stop in at the Publishing Perspective site. There with a little digging in the posts our intrepid kitty boy found one about grants for international publishers translating Scottish novels.
According to Porter Anderson's post, Publishing Scotland is offering grant funding for the translation of Scottish authors' novels. The funding is open to publishers located outside the U.K. Links to previous grant winners and the application form are included in the post.
Translation. An author's dream.
Panzer says, "This is an excellent opportunity for Scottish authors to reach an international audience."
Note:This is a short-medium length post. Bring a cup of tea for this reading selection. If you plan to follow the links in the post, you'll need to decide what to bring to eat and drink while you read.

A New Panzerism
Panzer on the hide-and-don't-seek game:
What's His Name is in a hurry to get ready for work and can't find his glasses.
It's funny watching him run from room to room looking for them.
And ... Now ...
No. They are not in the litter box.
He's asking for my help.
Where would the fun be in that ...
Since ...
I'm the one who hid them?

AI-generated images to be sold as stock photos through Shutterstock - digitaltrends
Today, Panzer made a stop at the digitaltrends site. There he found a post about AI artwork. AI has been in the news for the last few weeks. Panzer told you when Getty Images and other stock photo sites banned the sale of the AI artwork because of copyright fears.
Will others follow them?
According to Caleb Clark's post, Shutterstock will soon begin selling it's own AI-generated artwork. The company believes it has found a way around the copyright and legality issues. The post includes a link to another site with more information.
Panzer says, "This will definitely be interesting to see if they actually can do it."
Note:This is a short medium post. Bring a cup of tea for today's reading.
