A note from CEO Andy Jassy about role elininations - About Amazon - Company News
Today, Panzer stopped in at the Amazon Company News site. With a little digging there our inquisitive kitty boy found a post from CEO Andy Jazzy.
What is the economy?
The post explains the recent "role eliminations" in Amazon's workforce. CEO Andy Jazzy says the reductions were necessitated by the economy. He also says the reductions will continue into 2023.
Panzer says, "Hmm ... Everybody is laying off employees."
Note: This is a long-short post. Bring a half a cup of tea for your reading.

A Monday Panzerism
Panzer on sportsmanship:
(Oops. That should be sports-kitty-ship.)
You know, cats believe in fair play.I'm not sure humans understand this.
But ...
It is true.
For example ...
I race him a lot.**
When in a foot race, it's fair to trip an opponent. What's His Name may not realize it's actually a race
But ...
I wouldn't trip him* if it wasn't.
*You know, I don't know why Mom brought What's His Name home. All he does is whine about me.

Vellum 3.4 publishing software is out: $200+ but worth it - TeleRead
Today, Panzer made a trip to the TeleRead site. There he found a post about Vellum software.
Ebook distribution used to be easy.
According to David Rothman's post, the new Vellum 3.4 is now available. In his review Vellum is his choice for making epub versions of his books. While Vellum is for Macs only, he does include some software recommendations for the Windows operating system. The post includes links to all the recommended software products.
Panzer says, "We don't have a Mac so this little kitty is glad he included software for Windows too."
Note: This is a medium length post. Bring a cup of tea and a chocolate chip cookie and a brownie (you can never have too much chocolate) for reading this post. If you plan to follow all the links in the post, you'll need to decide what to bring to eat and drink while you read.

What the ruling against the PRH-S&S merger means for the publishing business - The Idea Logical Company
Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to The Idea Logical Company site. There with a little digging in the posts he found one about the Penguin Random House and Simon and Schuster merger failure. Panzer told you about the court case as it unfolded.
It's an interesting read.
Mike Shatzkin gives an in-depth analysis of what he believes will be the outcome of the court decision to stop the Penguin Random House (PRH) merger with Simon and Schuster (S&S). He presents his reasoning for why there will continue to be a big five in the publishing industry.
Panzer says, "Everything he presents makes sense as long as the court decision is upheld on appeal. (If there is an appeal.)"
Note: This is a very long post. Bring a large cup of warm tea and two muffins for today's reading selection.

Amazon Printing Press and Pricing Scams: What Authors Need to Know - Kindleprenuer
This is going to be a short post today. Our wi fi has been on and off all day, so we don't know how much time we've got to get this uploaded.
* * * * * * *
Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the Kindleprenuer site. There our intrepid kitty traveler found a post about scams using authors' stolen books being run on Amazon.
They can't fix our wi fi until tomorrow.
According to Jason Hamilton's post, people are stealing authors' books by printing bad quality books and then selling them on Amazon as either the books' publisher or the authors. The post also explains the repercussions for the authors from this activity. A second scam also using Amazon is discussed in the post as well.
Panzer says, "There's more to the post, but we need to hurry in case we lose our wi fi again."
Note: This is a medium length post. Bring a cup of tea and a muffin for today's reading selection.

A Panzerism
Panzer on human misuse of language:
Wasted ... Wasted ... Time.*
Mom is always telling me to be a good kitty.
I did that once.
That was a wasted three minutes.
