And the Curtain Closes…
So we finally come to an end on Semblance’s blog tour, hosted by the amazing and the wonderful Nikkie over at Blissful Book Blog!
Yay! It’s been a great few days of blogger mayhem.
Last week, we had a plethora of wonderful blogger madness that you can check out here.
This week, we finish off with some more lovely review of Semblance!
Sweet Beautiful Moments in West Flordia
This book was one Giant mind fuck, and I absolutely loved it. I have never in my life read read anything remotely like this before…..
★★★★★
2 Girls Asian White Chick Book Blog
I don’t know where to start with this review. This book was so mysterious, thrilling, twisted and a real page-turner! I couldn’t put this down, till the very end. And THE END of this book…oh my!
★★★★
The ending will tear you apart and leaving you dying for book two. I could not put this book down, every time I’d try to set it down I’d go back to it 30 seconds later because I just HAD to know what happened next.

Semblance is extremely well written and sucks you into the story right from the beginning. It’s not only the story, but it’s Logan’s writing style that keeps you engaged the whole time.

I’m Being Pimped!
Yes, you read that right, I’m being pimped, by the lovely Nikki over at Blissfulbooks blogs along with the ever amazing bloggers that are participating on the Semblance blog tour!
Before I get into the details of the tour thus far, I have to apologize first for falling behind on all my social media stuff. Lately I’ve been all tied up, and not in the sexy erotic bondage 50 Shades type of way, but more in the “Let’s kick your ass Mr. Patricks” — Sincerely Life, kind of way.
Just last week my entire family succumbed to the flu. Meanwhile at my day job, I had to take on more responsibility due to some crazy corporate wackiness of the non-smutty nature that all of you probably don’t care to hear about.
And just yesterday, my little princess developed her first coughing bouts, and like the new parent I am, I lost my marbles, freaking out over what probably is just a common cold. However I still feel a dagger to my heart with every cough coming out of her mouth.
*Sigh*
On the bright note Penumbra, the sequel to Semblance, has expanded from 90k words to 100k words in estimated length, and currently I’m about 65% complete.

A lot of what I had originally planned for book two will be pushed back to book three and it looks like the Midnight Society series will expand by at least one more book! We all love it bigger, right? Right?
Alright, onto the details of the Semblance book tour!
Thus far, we are four days in and I’m overwhelmed by the amazing reviews I’ve received thus far! I’ve been experiencing some serious self-gratifying hard-ons from these lovely lady’s glowing reviews!

Awesome Authors Spotlight: Mary E. Palmerin
Believe it or not, sometimes I do get tired talking about myself. So tonight, I thought I’d talk about someone else:
The lovely, the talented Mary E. Palmerin, who has a new book Shadow of Scars and Sorrows, which goes live Feb 28th on Amazon!
I always think that the person behind the book is equally as important, thus what I did was draft up some zany questions for Mary to answer. Check them out!
.
1. Summarize your book in a one-sentence catch phrase.
The Sorrow Series is a collection of suspenseful and raw romantic erotica tales that
will leave you both touched and traumatized, pulling at your heart strings from the
real life emotions depicted from the first word to the last.
.
2. Now in one sentence, tell us why your book kicks ass.
Lyla Harper, my female lead within the series, gives survivors a voice and most of
all, hope for a content and joyous life.
.
3. Tell us what your main character’s Plenty of Fish dating profile looks like.
I can’t pick one, so I will give you both Lyla and Everett’s:
Lyla Harper, twenty-three year old Kansas native living life in the Windy City. Music
and wine lover. Addicted to tattoos and art. Appreciator of smut and other literature.
Hopeless dreamer. Sucker for Sex and the City re-runs, Lifetime movies, and cheap
Chinese takeout. Enjoys anything outdoors and of course, anything that can make
me laugh and smile. Tall, dark-featured, shy, seeking a companion that can be both
accepting and honest.
.
Everett Brown, twenty-six-year-old attorney, specializing in criminal law. Born and
bred in Gold Coast, currently living in Chicago. Acoustic playing Fender enthusiast.
Book nerd and major history buff. Enjoys intellectual conversation. Secretly
sensitive. Prada-suit wearing gentleman seeking Miss Right. I melt over long dark
hair, curves, and a woman that can smile with her eyes.
.
4. What’s your fondest childhood memory?
Definitely spending time at my grandparent’s “property”, which was eighty acres
of old coal mining land with two lakes, one pond, and plenty of amazing wildlife. I
have fond memories hiking the trails with my cousins and siblings, swimming in the
summer, camping in the fall, and playing in the snow in the wintertime. There are
eight grandchildren and I am the baby. We all still remain close and all the times we
shared as kids will always be dear to my heart. Every time I think of it, I smile and I
swear I can still smell the warm country air.
.
5. On your iTunes, what song has the most plays?
Ah! Such a hard questions, as I listen to everything! Currently, it would definitely be
Dustin O’Halloran’s Opus 26. Something about that song sends me into an emotional
writing frenzy.
.
6. Finish the following sentence: I am ashamed to admit that I like…
Lunchables. Yes, I am 26 years old and I eat my kids Lunchables.
.
7. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
To be able to be in two places at once. That is a superpower, right? If I could do that,
I could definitely get a lot more done during the day and sleep more at nighttime!
.
8. In one sentence, what is the philosophy of martial arts?
Haha! I don’t know much about it, so here goes… A man who fights with his mind is
stronger than one who merely fights with his fists. Sounds Confucius or Bruce Lee-
like, yes?
.
9. What’s something you never want to hear on a date?
If I pay for dinner, I expect you to have my lollipop for dessert. I’ve heard that somewhere,
and I would find it hard not to laugh and think the man was serious, but hey… never
know!
.
10. If you could have one mythical creature as a pet during the zombie apocalypse,
what would it be and why?
Definitely a manticore because I would pick the one with hottest face, one with the
looks of a god that is easy on the eyes. His body would be that of the strongest and
greatest lion and claws sharper than daggers. He would use his spike-shooting tail
to kill zombies and his deadly claws to annihilate them too. I think I could have him
trained well!

How Precious We Are
Today, as I held my daughter and fed her from the bottle (right before she vomited up half her dinner), I couldn’t help but think how precious each and everyone one of us are, and how fragile at times our lives can be.
I think about my little princess and sometimes it boggles my mind that someone so beautiful and delicate can break apart so easily, like the petals of a rose. I try imagining taking care of such a beautiful and precious creation without my loving and supportive wife–and I just can’t do it. The task seems so incredibly daunting–raising her on my own to become a strong, independent woman.
If you’re wondering why I’m rambling on such a tangent, last night, I was messaged on twitter that one of my readers had gotten in a serious accident. I won’t go into details, but this lovely person–a single mother of three–can no longer support for her children while she’s on the mend.
For those that know me, I have the greatest respect for single mothers…they are the most hardest working people in the universe.
If you’re joining me on my blog for the first time, I ask that you don’t purchase any of my books right now. They can wait. Instead, take your money and support this strong, beautiful, shining star of a reader/single mom and ease the burden of her being the sole provider for her children. She’s been strong for so long for her kids, now it’s time for us to pull our weight for her.
Please.
And remember to share this with everyone!

Your Exclusive Sneak Preview of Penumbra
SHADOW
*Note the following preview takes place mid chapter.*
I watched as the family left the kids’ bookstore. The boy gripped his copy of Maurice Sednak’s book in his hands, a large smile on his face. His sister followed closely behind him, pulling on his t-shirt with one hand while the other held a stuffed animal. The mother thanked the portly old man behind the counter and followed her children out the door.
“Of all the locations we could have met, why here?” I asked.
“I’m killing two birds with one stone.”
“What two birds? Meeting with me and picking up a copy of ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ after?”
Leah shook her head and pointed to the man behind the counter. His hair was brittle and grey, and his face looked worn down, like old beige leather. He was cleaning his over-sized reading glasses with the fabric of his white-buttoned shirt.
“You know how I’m good at summarizing people with one word?” Leah asked.
I nodded.
“Pedophile,” she said. “That man is one of the most predominant distributors of child pornography. I’ve been trying to nail him on charges of possession and distribution for the past year, but I’m still struggling to gather enough evidence. He covers his tracks extremely well, using an untraceable IP address to do most of his business.”
I stared at the man, who turned to us and waved, smiling at us with his large slug-like lips.
“Is there anything else you two need?” he asked, cheerfully.
Leah shook her head and gave him her best fake smile.
“We’re good, thank you. But perhaps in a minute, you can help me look for the box set of ‘Anne of Green Gables?’” she asked. “It’s a childhood favorite of mine.”
“Of course. You come see men when you’re ready,” he said, turning his attention back to a magazine he had been flipping through earlier.
“You’re having no luck getting anything on him at all?” I asked.
Leah shook her head. “He was charged once before, long ago, but the police officer who arrested him was too focused on roughing him up to read him his Miranda rights. The entire case got tossed out. He’s been extremely careful ever since. I can only imagine how many children will get exploited while I continue to try and build this case.”
“The officer made one detrimental flaw,” I stated.
“Well, of course,” Leah said. “The Miranda rights are the focal point of any arrest, giving every suspected criminal his humanly rights.”
“I’m not talking about that,” I said as I rose to my feet and walked towards the door of the book store. I flipped the sign over from ‘Opened’ to ‘Closed.’
“What are you doing?” Leah asked.
I ignored her question. “The officer should have beaten this guy to the point where even thinking about a child would hurt.”
I walked over to the counter and fixed my gaze at the fucker.
“Do you like children?” I asked. The man looked at me and smiled.
“Why yes, of course,” he said as he took off his reading glasses and laid them on the table. “That’s why I own this bookstore. I love seeing the look of excitement in their eyes as they explore wondrous new pieces of literature.”
I drilled him in the left eye with a heavy fist. “What do you see now? Stars? Good, cause you’re about to see a whole galaxy filled with them.”
The man grabbed his eye and howled in pain.
“Do you film naked children?” I asked him, calmly.
The man looked at me with his one good eye–the look of fear unmistakeable. I wondered how many times the children he exploited looked at him the same way. And then I thought of Julia and everything went red.
“Why are you doing this?” he cried.
“Because you’re a degenerate,” I said as I reached over the counter, grabbed him by the collar, and lifted him up and over. I tossed him into a book display featuring various fairy tale princesses, who smiled innocently at us.
He lay on the floor, sniveling pathetically while still clutching his left eye. I walked over and looked at him with bitterness.
In the background I heard Leah screaming at me, but I drowned her out. All that mattered was inflicting as much pain as I could on this sick fuck.
“I’m going to ask you again and I want the truth,” I said. “Do you touch little children?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” the man protested.
I delivered a hard kick to his gut and took satisfaction at the sound of one of his ribs snapping.
“Do you touch little children?” I asked him again.
This time I got the truth out of him.
“I’m sorry,” the bookstore owner shouted, his face a mess of tears and saliva. “I can’t control it. I need help. Please, that’s all I need, just some help.”
“Filming disgusting acts and selling them for money does not sound like a plea for help,” I said. “Did you have dirty thoughts about those children that were just in the store?”
“Y-y-yes.”
I punched him in the groin.
“Shadow, no more,” I heard Leah say from behind me. Once again, I ignored her.
“I want you to listen to me carefully. Starting today I will be watching you,” I said. “Every step you take, every morsel of food you place in your mouth, every single person you lay your filthy eyes on, I will know about it. If I even suspect that you’re having a dirty thought, I’m going to come out of hiding and do this to you.”
I smashed him in the groin again with a heavy fist.
“Stop, please!” he howled in pain.
“Do we have a deal then?” I asked.
By this point, the filth was sobbing uncontrollably.
“I don’t like repeating myself. I’m going to ask you one more time. Do we have a deal?”
“I d-d-don’t even know what the deal is?” he cried.
“My fist in your privates every time I think you’re considering doing something sick,” I replied. “You fuck up, I hurt you. Is that clear?”
He nodded. I let him stagger to his feet while he shielded his groin with his hands. “No more,” he begged.
I connected his jaw with the end of my fist, knocking him out cold.
I then turned to Leah.
“I bought you some time,” I said. “I doubt he’s going to look at another child again anytime soon. Meanwhile, take your sweet time and build some evidence against him.”
Leah looked at me and frowned. “There will be no case Shadow,” she said. “The second you laid your hands on him, you tossed out any valid case we could have had against him.”
“You don’t have to play your games with me,” I said.
“What do you mean?” Leah folded her arms up against her chest.
“Perhaps you still have some grass roots within the Midnight Society after all,” I smirked.
“I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about,” she replied.
“You were never going to catch this guy, were you?” I asked. “He was far out of your reach already and you couldn’t stomach it. You wanted to see him suffer for what he did, but there was no way you were going to get your own hands dirty. That’s why you had me come here, because you knew I would beat the shit right out of his colon. I was going to be your instrument for this unsanctioned beat down.”
Leah’s silence confirmed it all.
“So I guess we’re done here?” I asked. “I do have a plane to catch.”
“Despite what you think, I didn’t want this to happen,” She said, gesturing towards the unconscious pedophile sprawled on the ground.
“Manipulator,” I stated.
“What?”
“That’s the one word I have to summarize you.”
I turned and opened the door to the book store, ready to take my leave. However, just as I was ready to step out, Leah called out to me.
“Don’t do to her what you did to me,” she said. Was she referring to Aria? “The girl deserves better than that. She deserves better than you.”

You Asked For The Truth!
Welcome to another installment of my nutty shenanigans.

Second exciting announcement, I’m going on a blog tour, organized by the wonderful and amazing Nikki of Blissfulbookblog. Want to partake in the excitement of the blog tour and be my pimp? Just sign up in the form below =P
So on the weekend, I decided to do my own version of an ASK ME ANYTHING, where I took questions from you lovely ladies about anything and everything. I wish I could have answered them all, but alas I could only choose 11 to fit in this post. However, have no fear! I plan on doing more of these compromising posts where I continue to reveal myself to you.
You heard me.
Without further ado, onto the questions that you curious vixens submitted!
1. What was the weirdest thing you googled while doing research for writing this book?
In terms of writing the book itself, there wasn’t much strange googling going on. Creating the book cover on the other hand…early versions of the mock-up of Semblance’s cover involved pictures of bare-chested men and their washboard abs. I remember sitting alone in my office, the lights off, basking in the cerulean glow of my laptop, looking up pictures of men’s naked torsos. At one point, my wife walked in holding my baby daughter, looked at my screen, shook her head, and then walked out.
My wife’s a very understanding woman.
So I guess to answer the question, it was more weird that I, a straight married man with a baby, sat alone in my basement office, hunched over my computer screen seeking out the perfect set of male pectorals–rather than googling anything weird per-se. In the end…as you can see, I couldn’t take it anymore and used a different image for the cover.
2. What do my loved ones think of my writing?
They think it’s great and they’re happy for me! Ever since I was a kid, it had always been a hobby of mine and the fact that Semblance is doing fairly well and generating a lot of buzz has my family cheering me on. I promised my dad never to allow my mom to read the book–due to some inappropriate smexy scenes. However my mother-in-law reads all my books…and that’s just kind of awkward….
3. Have any nosy onlookers asked or commented on what I’m writing while I write on the train?
If you consider grunting and heavy breathing through a four inch thick beard “commenting,” then yes. Yes they have.
4. How did I do research in preparation for writing in a woman’s POV?
I married one.
5. What percentage of Semblance is real life and made up?
That’s a tough one to answer. There are many elements that are “real,” and many that are derived from my twisted brain. The entire Secret Society/shit-your-pants-finale/psychopaths/assassinations were, of course, imaginary. Everything that occurred in Cambodia–including dancing the Macarena on the streets during New Year’s eve–was real. The music is all very real. As for sexy time…I never kiss and tell =P.
6. Semblance had a lot of personal underlying themes. Will this continue with Penumbra?
Of course! One of the main themes that was never resolved in Semblance will continue through Penumbra–that being the theme of obsession. Just how far will Shadow go to achieve revenge and what relationships will he sacrifice in order to do it? This topic has always fascinated me because:
a) My personalty is that of an alpha male.
b) Alpha males are very stubborn.
c) A lot of this stubbornness comes from our pride.
d) This pride doesn’t allow us to “lose” or “just walk away.”
e) In trying to mend our damaged pride, we tend to forget about all the people that love us, and often they are the ones that end up getting hurt the most.
Of course, that’s one of the main themes. We’ll see many secondary themes surface as well, with the introduction of a crucial third theme at the end of Penumbra that will raise a few eyebrows, I’m sure.
7. Will Shadow and Aria both have POVs in Penumbra?
Yup, Penumbra will be told by both viewpoints. We’ll see their stories diverge very early on–running in two completely different parallels–and then converging towards the climax of the book. The first part of the book will be Shadow-centric whereas the second part will focus on Aria. As for the climax, it will focus on one of these two characters as someone will be losing their viewpoint within Penumbra, and for a very good reason.
8. How have the events in Semblance changed Aria, and will she go through character changes as a result of these events?
Definitely. In the beginning of Semblance, we see Aria as the sharp, witty, balls-to-the-walls type of gal who speaks her mind, is somewhat confident, and has a direction in life. For those that read Semblance, you know that all changes in the final act.
She’s heartbroken, devastated, and completely haunted by all that’s happened to her. As much as I enjoyed writing the “happy, cheerful, and witty” Aria, it’s not realistic for me to keep that tone for Penumbra. Now that’s not saying she wont’ still have her great one-liners…there will be just less of it, unless someone can break her out of her slump…
9. Will a new male character be competing with Shadow for Aria’s love and devotion?
There will be several new male characters, but they won’t be necessarily competing for Aria’s affections. Old characters however…
10. If Shadow were a drink, what would it be?
The Flaming Moe, from Simpson’s fame. It’s burning, addictive, intoxicating, and with the right amount of secrets that keep people coming back for more.
11. Why do you like masks so much?
Because I’m Batman.

Your Exclusive Book Two: Midnight Society Preview!
Ladies and gentlemen,
As promised, the progress bar HAS reached 25%, which means I’m writing at a good clip, and you get a raw and uncut exclusive preview of Book Two of the Midnight Society.
*Note* I replaced a certain individual’s name with “HE” to avoid spilling the beans of book one.
For all those that HAVE read Semblance, the “HE” in this scene is the same person who said this line in Chapter 34:
“My abilities to stay beautiful have deteriorated with each subsequent attempt on my life.”

THE MIDNIGHT SOCIETY: BOOK TWO
“Do you know what this is?” he asked.
“It’s a pocket watch,” I said.
“That’s where you’re wrong,” he replied as he wiped the dust off of it with his fingers. It was a pretty looking thing made out of silver. What caught my eye was the visibility of the inner gears, a magnificent network of tiny little cogs that gave the watch a steam punk sort of vibe.
“I’m pretty sure it’s a pocket watch,” I repeated. “It’s a pretty one though.”
“To your first point, the pocket watch is just a facade. And to your second comment; thank you. I made it myself.”
I couldn’t say I was surprised. He seemed like the type of guy who knew how to use his hands.
“So tell me then, what is it?” I asked.
“It’s a totem for the truth,” he replied.
“Come again?”
He sat down next to me and placed the watch in my hands so I could look at it.
“There was one performance of this theatre that was my absolute favorite,” he said. “It was called the Festival of Fools. The basic premise of the story was that one day, a remote European village suffered a great tragedy of biblical proportions–a strange disease took the lives of all the children. For weeks, everyone in the village lived within a fog of depression, where eating and breathing became more of chore, rather than a necessity. It was a dark, dark time for everyone seemed as if the entire village itself was biding their time, waiting for death to come for them as well.
“The mayor of the village devised an outrageous plan to help everyone cope with their grief. He proposed holding a festival where for one week, everyone in the village was to forget about their current existing life and to come up with a new persona for themselves. For the entire duration of that week, everyone was to roleplay being someone else.
“All families–emotional ties to a loved one–ceased to exist during this festival with the intent that within seven days, everyone would forget about the death of their children, distracted by maintaining the lie of their new lives. However, there needed to be a mechanism during this week for villagers to know when someone was telling the truth–just in case. It was decided that every villager would carry one item made out of silver, and when it was presented to another, it was known that the person holding it was telling the truth–temporarily abandoning their roleplay.”
I raised the silver pocket watch to our eye levels and let it dangle from the chain, the weight of gravity rotating it slowly and effortlessly.
“The pocket watch in your hands was one of the totems of truths used in the play,” he said.
“So what happened to everyone?” I asked.
“Well, as you can imagine, the entire village went into chaos. Emotions were running high and the thrills of taking on a whole new identity led to crazed episodes of debauchery, adultery, and in one instance, murder. When it was all said and done, lines were crossed and families were destroyed and it was too painful to return to the previous lives they once had.”
“And then?”
“All the silver in the village was destroyed. The end.”
“I thought you said the plays done in this theatre were all comedies,” I pointed out.
“Not all the time. As twisted as this sounds, sometimes it’s nice watching the train wreck that is other people’s lives, just to make your own look a little better by comparison.”
“That sounds awful.”
“We all do it,” he said, “Though we choose not to admit it.”
There was a moment of silence as we both stared at the pocket watch in my hands.
“So what was her name?” I asked smiling.
“Who’s name?” he asked.
“The girl you lost your virginity to in this theatre.”
There was a brief pause. “Nadia,” he finally said.
“Is that the truth or just another one of your lies?” I asked.
He shook his head. “I’m finished lying,” he said. “It’s brought me nothing but trouble.”
Suddenly the front double doors burst open and through it entered a dark, ominous figure shrouded in a hood, drenched from the rain. Behind him, the man was dragging a screaming woman along the ground by the collar, her wrists and feet bound by tie wraps.
