The Sweet, The Long, and The Hard

What a whirlwind of a weekend it was!

Semblance participated in its first promo over at Nikki’s Amazing Blissfulbookblog Facebook Page (Go and LIKE the shit out of her page) along with Bookblast, as well as a flash promo from Gabi’s Facebook Page (Go and LIKE the shit out of that page too) and it clawed through the Amazon charts, reaching number 1 on the Gothic Romance Bestsellers List as well as Top Ten in Romance Mystery!

[Related: Your Exclusive Sneak Preview of Semblance]

That my friends is what I call a personal (and emotional) win! It’s also fast approaching it’s 50th five star review (currently holding at 49 ★★★★★ our of 52 possible reviews), which tells me you guys like what I’m doing!

[The Reviews of Semblance!]

*Whew!*

If you don’t know by now, I do about 80% of my writing on the train, and let me tell you, it’s tough hiding my laptop screen from wandering eyes while I pound away on my manuscript (FYI, the word “orgasm” found it’s way into my book 6 times =S ) but due to all the great reaction and buzz I’m getting from Semblance, I shall continue on with my quest to deliver the best romance thriller I can, filled with raw emotion, broken hearts, seedy love affairs, betrayals, and all that good stuff we like to read and not experience (unless you signed up to be on an episode of the Bachelor).

Now, onto the meat of this post!

We’ll start off with THE SWEET.

The other day, I received one of the most lovely emails from Tara P. telling me how much she enjoyed the song Breathless (which plays a role in Semblance) I have on my blog.

[Related: Listen to Breathless]

It inspired her to paint this amazing and wonderful painting.

Tara P breathless painting

I am speechless.

Tarah, it’s beautiful, the world should see it, and never stop painting.

You have really made my day.

If you have a moment, show Tarah some love, and seriously tell her how talented she is: @Tea4Tulips

I honestly love hearing from my readers, and will continue to share the best of you, just like how you keep sharing the best of me =).

Moving onto the LONG (I know what you’re thinking…you naughty girls, you).

As you have noticed, my Book 2 of the Midnight Society progress bar has reached 25%, and as promised, I’ll soon be releasing an excerpt from Book Two (which still remains untitled). However, I really have to look over my manuscript and see what excerpt I can post without spoiling the events of book one, which is rather difficult since everyone’s lives are flipped upside down.

I’ve learned just how much reading a spoiler of Semblance could possibly suck =P

But stay tuned, it’s *ahem* COMING soon. (Yes, I am a father).

And finally, the HARD…(I’ll leave that one alone).

I’ve been asked about putting together a hardcopy of Semblance, and because I’m a slave to whatever you want from me, I have begun fulfilling that request.

I do have a target date in mind, but I don’t want to announce it yet, seeing as how the last thing I want to do is disappoint someone if I fail to reach that publication date. But, soon enough, you’ll be able to have a physical copy of Semblance in your hands.

Hell, I’ll even autograph some and write whatever personalized messages you want in it…though I do suspect that I’ll regret this idea seeing as how wild some of you ladies are.

Alright back to attacking book two! It’s coming at a fast pace, and I think I just figured out the ending (yes, I said it before, but I mean it this time), and it’ll make you all lose your minds.

Whip me baby!

I want you to be my dominatrix.

Okay, before we all go crazy and start cladding ourselves in leather (though I do have a charming leather vest….don’t ask), let me put some context behind my overtly explicit comment.

My new sexy romance thriller series the Midnight Society launched with the first book: Semblance a little over two weeks ago and I gotta tell you, I’m floored by the amazing reviews I’ve received.

[Related: Read a Free Preview of Semblance Now]

There’s also been one consistent comment that keeps coming up in almost all the reviews of Semblance in some form of variation: “I can’t wait for book two or write book two faster.”

[Related: Your Kick Ass Amazon Reviews]

Thus I have forced it upon myself to give my readers what they want. For those that follow my blog on a regular basis (many thanks if you do, you’re my lovely Midnight Girl!) you’ll notice that I now have a word counter, tracking the progress of Book Two. Currently it stands at 16,000 words or roughly 18 %.

This meter is what I need to fuel myself to write harder, faster, better, and sexier. The word count meter is how I’ll measure my progress to reach 100% of the first draft and you guys are welcome to witness my progress as well. In fact, I’m giving you the thumbs up to by my motivational dominatrix and launch that whip at me if you see that counter remain stagnant for long periods of time.

I’d also like to note that positive reinforcement fuels my fire as well! Every time someone messages me on facebook or twitter telling me they enjoyed the book, or every time you kick-ass readers becoming ninja pimps for Semblance, telling all your friends and book clubs to read it, that gives me the emotional high I need to dominate my manuscript like a literary assassin. I love comments as well, and seriously, my blog is an open forum. I do my best to get back to all comments!

Alright, time to attack those words again one sultry and sexy sentence at a time.

P.S. 3 chapters in and we already have a sultry sex scene involving sandwiches. Oh baby!

Cheers,

Logan Patricks

Yes, ladies and gentleman, I am committed to working like a literary donkey to get you two books this year and complete the first part of the Midnight Society opus! There will be a lot more sex, blood, and betrayal.

I also have a whopping ten new characters fleshed out and ready to make their grand appearance in book two! There’s something for everyone, I promise! The ending I have in store for book two as well will seriously drop your jaw and if it doesn’t invoke some type of emotion, you are a robot.

Alright, enough of me peddling my hot new sexy thriller. It’s time to give you all what you REALLY want. More embarrassing stories of yours truly.

*** Logan’s Christmas Memory ***

In the early stages of life, every person had that one influence that shaped their childhood; that one influence that taught them right from wrong; that showed them being good was cool and that no positive outcome would come from performing despicable and villainous acts in society.

My personal influence was virtuous and courageous; he was a leader that you could respect and look up to, and when the times were tough he overcame all odds with a calm level headedness and superior intellect that inspired me to be just like him. That influence was Optimus Prime (the 80’s cartoon version, not the Michael Bay, Decepticon butchering psychopath in the live action movies).

One look into his penetrating, steely blue eyes and you knew that was one robot you could trust. I tried to place that same trust in a toaster once before but it had failed me like no other machine had before.

So, when I received the Optimus Power Master’s action figure for Christmas, you can imagine how thrilled I was. It was my first step to achieving my childhood dream of becoming a robot–of becoming Optimus Prime.

Of course, this idolization of Optimus could not last forever. There were two turning points in my youth where I realized that I could never truly fulfill my dream of being like Optimus. The first hard truth that I discovered was that no matter how hard I tried, I would never be able to transform into a freightliner class 8 truck. I remembered shortly after Christmas lunch on that miraculous day of receiving that Optimus toy, I ripped the wheels off my mobile toy box and strapping them onto my elbows and ankles. When my mother found me in my room on my knees huddled to the floor and gyrating shamelessly in hopes of achieving motorized movement, she thought I had suffered brain damage and was quick to call my father over.

“Peter, your son has become and idiot!” I remembered her saying. At the time I didn’t understand how she couldn’t see that I was in the process of transforming into an automobile but hindsight is always 20/20. I should have locked the door.

The second crushing event was watching the original Transformers cartoon movie. My dad had decided to take me opening weekend after much persistence which included pleading every moment his presence was available at home. I was relentless in my begging. Even the bathroom was not safe from my whining.

“Fine! I’ll take you!” my father finally gave in. “Now please let me pass your mom’s salty cooking through my bowels in peace!” I had never heard such sweeter words in my life. The movie was going to be the best movie ever I had decided.

The first thirty minutes of the movie were like a nightmare. All the characters I had loved so dearly were ruthlessly murdered by the dastardly Decepticons. This wasn’t supposed to happen! The good guys were always supposed to win! I watched in horror as Prowl, Ratchet, and Iron Hide were slaughtered before my very eyes. I whispered a silent prayer for Wheeljack when his lifeless corpse lay forgotten on the battlefield. Surely Optimus would live! He must! He was, after all, Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots! And then they killed him; though as heroic as his death was, the sadistic minds at Hasbro had decided to kill him and replace him with some fool named Rodimus Prime whose name sounded more like a sex toy than a robot hero.

All the other kids around me united together in a stream of tears and wailing that marked the end of our innocence.

“Stop crying,” my father had told me. “You’re better than these other kids.” But I wasn’t. Not that day anyway.

Looking back, it was amazing how much of an impact an 80’s cartoon had on your life as a child. It was the constant in your life from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm everyday after school. These cartoons were what you talked about with your friends during recess, what you imitated on your front lawn while your parents did the yard work, what captured your imagination and transported you to realms of imagination and fantasy. They were essentially the greatest thing in the world back then – a memory that would always be sacred in our hearts.

Ten years later when university came around, so did the glorious era of file sharing. Countless movies, music, and shows were available at a click of a mouse on the university shared drives. One of my fellow students on my floor had the complete first season of Transformers, so a bunch of us flocked into his room to relieve the magic and nostalgia of the show.

“Wait till you see this Sergei,” I had told one of the exchange students in my residence who had been deprived of an 80’s American cartoon upbringing. “This will be the greatest thing ever.” Twenty minutes later, the credits began to roll and Sergei turned to me and said, “Eet was sheete.”

It was shit, I had to agree. I was stunned at how my childhood memory had betrayed me. The wonder and magic that television had given me was a bold-faced lie, one that I had bought into as a weak-minded child. Too heartbroken to endure another episode of the hard truth, I went back to my room and played video games instead while mulling over broken fragments of my childhood.

Another ten years later and we find ourselves knee-deep in the DVD/Blue Ray box set era. All the shows I had loved at the age of nine, disliked at the age of nineteen, were all re-mastered and in box set form at the age of twenty-nine. Perhaps another decade of living would change my perceptions of the shows that I had loved? Perhaps the old 80’s Optimus Prime I had idolized would once again be ‘cool’ with my newfound maturity that I lacked at nineteen?

Though I have matured into different role models (Batman), I still have a soft spot for Optimus Prime and the door is still wide open for his return into my heart, which is why this Christmas, I had purchased the first two seasons of the beloved 80’s cartoon on DVD.

Fingers crossed the magic’s still there…

I’m Seeing Stars….

I’d like to start off with two things:

The first being I hope everyone is having an amazing holidays, stuffing their faces full of delectable foods, and spending time with their loved ones. Mine’s great thus far! It was my daughter’s first Christmas, though she spent 80% of it crying her face off with all the hordes of people crowding around her. Awwww….

2nd, Holy shit!

You guys love Semblance, you really do! The book launched 3 days ago and already I have FIFTEEN (out of fifteen) kick ass five-star reviews. I don’t want to toot my own horn, but what the hell. I’m batting 100% thus far in terms of satisfaction!

My confidence is riding high at this moment. I’m walking around the house, strutting my stuff like the guy  below, while my wife gives me the “Uh-huh…..” look.

Here are some of the reviews and the lovely people who wrote them.

I’m Going All In…

Putting yourself out there is tough–whether it’ telling someone you love them for the first time on the driveway of their parent’s house, waiting for someone to message you minutes after signing up for that free online dating website, or, in my case, releasing a new book in a romance thriller series.

Author’s are a curious breed of creatures. As masters of our own universes, we are egotistical maniacs that have the ability to create breathtaking worlds, elicit emotional responses of readers with five simple words in our stories (Ex. He loved me no more), and create literary doorways as means of temporary escape for the average human mind.

However the readers hold the true power (as they should). While a review consisting of “I loved this book” and five stars have us authors singing like angels in the clouds, the three simple words of “this book sucked” followed by a single star can destroy it all. Months of hard work along with all your hopes and dreams of succeeding in this competitive profession–destroyed.

Being an author is like a baptism of fire.

On Monday, December 23rd, 2013, I’m going all in–diving headfirst into the flames–and launching the first book of my new sexy romance thriller series, the Midnight Society. I recommend purchasing it on Amazon for all you kindle readers out there, but that’s just me. It’ll also be available for Kobo, Itunes, Smashwords, etc.

Am I nervous? Hell yeah, but after watching my wife deliver a nine pound, four ounce baby naturally (and yes I did look), the measurement of my “nerves” becomes relative.

I’m ready.

My book is ready.

And as readers, I hope you’re ready.

Early reviews of Semblance have been absolutely kick ass:

From Gabi Daniel’s Book blog:

“I loved Semblance. This novel is a fast-paced, suspense driven, page-turner. There was one clever twist after another. And just when I could breath a little sigh of relief… BOOM! I’m stunned and making — no-way-that-just-happened noises. Honest to God, I suspected everyone and figured out nothing! Every single plot twist is relevant, and dammit! my 007 inner fangirl was all about the society’s security.”

From Consuming World’s Book Blog:

“Reading Semblance was like being in the audience at one of Bach’s performances. Logan Patrick played me like a master pianist, bringing out every emotion and leaving me with the incredible high that comes from witnessing true talent. If this in fact were a show I would give Semblance and Logan Patricks a standing ovation. Seriously people when this book comes out on December 23, 2013 you need to run to your nearing reading device and download it! Trust me, this book will give you a very Merry Christmas!!! :)

From My Dad:

“What the hell? You wrote a book with explicit sex in it? Don’t show your mother….no I don’t want to read it. I hope it does well but what father wants to read about their son’s sex fantasies?….Can you help me with the drywall already? The sooner we get it done, the sooner I can hang out with my granddaughter and NOT tell her that her daddy wrote a sex book.”

She’s A Seductress

7 Days until the launch of Semblance, the first book of my sexy thriller series entitled the Midnight Society.

Sex, romance, mystery, violence, twists and turns–it’s all ready for you to devour. For those just tuning in and wondering what the heck the Midnight Society is all about, you can catch up by checking out the following links below.

[Related: He's A Sexual Deviant]

I’m taking a different route today and instead of giving you the usual tasty male eye candy, I’m going to introduce the female member of the Midnight Society, throwing myself and the two other men who read my blog a bone for once–interpret that however way you want. Here’s another fan poster I created in anticipation for the book.

Introducing the twin sister of Shadow Tremaine–the main stud of the Midnight Society Series (and your next fictional book boyfriend)–the sexy siren:

best new romance series, best new sexy thriller, best new thrillers, best new romance books, best new romance authors

Bio:

Calisto doesn’t like hearing “no” for an answer, often using her seductive charms and brilliant mind to obtain whatever she desires–wealth, power, hot men.

Ten years ago, a horrific tragedy stole away both Calisto’s and her twin brother Shadow’s innocence. Whereas Shadow is still haunted by the that fateful night, Calisto has managed to overcome her dark past and lives everyday like it’ll be her last, enjoying extravagant parties, fine wines, and hot sex. However, she can’t help but feel guilty for moving on while her brother continues to be tormented by his inner demons. If there was only some way she could help him…

***

On that note, I’d like to add that I met Kate Beckinsale once while I was on the set of the Total Recall remake. I was cast as an extra, with the role of being “pervert number 2″ which basically entailed me ogling women as they passed me by.

Good times, good times.

Moral of the story, Kate Beckinsale was absolutely stunning and one of the most genuine and kind-hearted human beings alive. If a Midnight Society movie ever gets made (that’s me dreaming), she needs to be in it.

Alright, enough of my trip down memory lane.

Make sure you check out a preview of the Midnight Society. If you want to read the first three chapters of Semblance, I’m giving everyone who joins my guest list and exclusive sneak preview.

What are you waiting for? Total Recall 2? It won’t happen…sad to say that movie sucked.

He’s a Sexual Deviant

Exactly ten days from now Semblance, the first book of my new romantic sexy thriller series: The Midnight Society, will be available on Amazon, Kobo, Smashwords, and I’ll try my best to get it onto Barnes and Noble and Itunes as well.

For those that have no clue what the heck Semblance is about, it can be summarized as: Shiny Things, Hot Sex, and Dead bodies.

[Related: Read the First Chapter of Semblance]

Early reviews of Semblance have been absolutely kick ass with hashtag descriptions such as: #Iwanthisbabies, #Illplayyouasong, #Ishisshirtwet, #Hellyeahitis, #youhadmeatsexualdeviant. (Seriously, it’s in the lovely Gabi Daniels’ review–possibly the best reviewer in the history of the Universe).

So in order to build some momentum for the December 23rd, 2013 release date, I’ve been introducing the members of the mysterious and clandestine cabal known as the Midnight Society through fan posters on my blog. Yesterday you all met the hardcore hunk and lord of the Midnight Society, Shadow Tremaine (a.k.a Henry Cavill).

[Related: Your Next Fictional Book Boyfriend]

Today, I’m pleased to introduce you to:

fictional book boyfriends, hot sexy characters, best new romance books, best new romance series, best new romance authors

Bio:

From an orphaned street rat to a high ranking member of the Midnight Society, Lincoln’s ascension into the upper echelon of high society was nothing short of stunning, and he did it all with a charming smile, razor sharp wit, and a simple white lie.

Despite being a master of deception, Lincoln is Shadow’s most trusted friend and confidant and has a strong voice within the organization, in spite of the disapproval of the other high ranking members. Perhaps the only thing holding Lincoln back from his meteoric rise to the top is his love for a single woman–Shadow’s twin sister Calisto. Uh-oh….

Quotes:

“Once again you mistake me for being a gentleman. I’m actually a sexual deviant.” – Lincoln Richards

“There is one person in everybody’s life that’s destined to make you happy and on the flip side, there’s also one person whose sole purpose in life is to torture you.” – Lincoln Richards

“Stay down. Bullets always have a tendency of flying high.” – Lincoln Richards

All right you crazy, sexy, cool readers (is that reference too dated to use? I dunno…), tomorrow, after I break my spine shovelling an estimated 15 cm of snow, I’ll try and get another “Who are the Midnight Society?” post done. Meanwhile, please read and share the preview below with all your horny friends, family (no children), neighbours, and fellow book-reading babes so I can have a kick ass December release and justify banging my head against the wall for the past six months writing the best damned sexy thriller I can possibly write for you–pretty please.

Introducing Your Next Fictional Book Boyfriend (Who are the Midnight Society?)

Good news everyone, I should have my revised manuscript for my new sexy thriller, Semblance: Book One of the Midnight Society series, back from my editor tomorrow, which means I’ll be spending most of the weekend shaping together the published draft that will be read by everyone in the Universe (I hope).
