The School of Good and Evil

Once upon a time in a land far, far away....Oh, wait. Did you think we were reading fairy tales today? Oh, my. No. So sorry to disappoint. But, if it makes you feel better, we will be discussing them! Or, more to the point, I'll be weighing in on The School of Good & Evil trilogy. Tsk, Tsk. And you thought fairy tales were only for those very young at heart.

Your Character’s Voice

As a writer, you carefully pen your character's voice. It is there in thought, in dialogue, and even in action. Everything you type upon the page helps to create that voice. So how do you then entrust that to someone else?

Molly Mouse and the Bear Cub

As a children's author it only makes sense that I read children's books, which is why I have created Today's Reading List Recommendation. Although I do read a lot of books, they won't all make it to the list. However, I recently came across one that I thought young readers would enjoy entitled, Molly Mouse and the Bear Cub, by Melinda Kinsman.

Why you should introduce your child to e-books

I am, and will always be, a fan of traditional books. There is nothing quite like the tactile feel of a book in your hands or the smell that awakens your senses as you turn each page, whether it is a new book, or a musty old friend. So why would I encourage you to […]

Perspective

I will be honest, this was not an easy blog post to write and share. However, I believe in the message and that overshadowed any other personal reservation. The bottom line is that we will all face personal struggles at one time or another---just like Dani and Chloe do in their adventures. It is why my characters are perfectly imperfect.

‘Highlight’ Education

I'd like you to take a moment and think back to your childhood. At one point or another, I'm sure you came across a Highlights magazine. It has been a staple in children's literary magazines since debuting in June of 1946. Although, far from being that old, I can remember my own early childhood and the excitement I would feel each month when the mailman would deliver my copy.

My Corner of Imagination

A friend of mine and co-collaborator at KidLit Parade, Cat Michaels, asked if I would be interested in participating in a blog hop that focuses on our creative spaces…or in other words…where we make our magic happen. Since my blog has been sorely neglected as of late as we wind up the production of the […]

An Interview with Gomee Girl

It all began with a tweet I met the Gomee Girl “family” on Twitter soon after I published my first book, Dani and the Haunted House. We instantly connected. Perhaps it is because we have a common belief that girls should be allowed to explore and be themselves and not limited by society’s norm. After […]

Let the holiday merriment commence

As I look back upon 2015, I have so much to be thankful for. I have been blessed with a loving family, health, and fulfillment. That last part is due in large part to the kindness I have found among my readership---yes, you! Thank you for following my blog and the Dani P. Mystery series. Your support and outpouring of encouragement have meant the world to me.
