Shouldn’t God Have to Explain Himself?
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
“You don’t have need to see why,” a beloved friend told me one night. “You just have to be faithful.”
How true are these words. Some of us tend to toss around the word Lord, don’t we? We call Jesus Lord, but do we think and act as though He truly is?
For the umpteenth time, I was deliberating about, and moaning about, and feeling w...

The Man Who Fell Down the Ladder
“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” John 4:23
One day I watched a man climb an exceedingly high ladder. I prayed for him briefly. He had a job to do. Painting. He needed to climb high. What a fall he might have taken! But he did not. Yet just hours later, I heard from a man who took an incredible fall down a ladder. You might be shocked to hear this. His fall was one of the mo...

Angry at God?
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:10
“I forgive so and so,” I said. “And this person,” I continued. “And I forgive that person. And oh, yeah, I forgive that one also.” I went on – and on. I was sitting with a friend and sister in the Lord years ago saying aloud to the Lord whom I was choosing to forgive in obedience to His command for us to forgive others. My friend, who was essentially mentoring me at the time, was encouraging me to think of e...

Dog Without Eyes – A Precious Reminder
“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Mt. 6:31-33
Sweet little senior dog Glory, brought long ago to a shelter with a litter of dead pups, emaciated, chewed up in lice, open sores, missin...

Are You Running to Tell?
“In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye:...

The Girl on the Run
“My beloved is mine, and I am his…” Son. 2:16
I watched her. Young. Woman. Girl perhaps. In black. Clothes. Black. Hair. Black. In flight. Running. First one way. Then the other. Looking for something. Or someone. I thought I recognized her. But she wasn’t who I thought she was. Someone else. Someone I didn’t know I came to find. Someone on the run. Searching. Looking. Seeking. Unable to find. Whatever it was she was needing. Wanting. Or both. Then we crossed paths. Ever so briefly. She to...

Blind to the Blessings
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:…”
“Every day you bless me,” I said to the Lord one morning as I knelt on the ground caring for paralyzed dog Mr. Simeon with paralyzed Miss Mercy and dog with no eyes little Glory and 13 year old dancing dog Dancer close by. “And I don’t see all the blessings.” How often it seems I see everything but – and respond poorly. Negatively.
Blind to the blessings. The words came to me immediately. Clearly the Holy Spirit. With a message. S...

Prayer of All Prayers
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14
“Help her to walk the narrow path,” I prayed to the Lord. As quickly as I had begun praying for a sister in the Lord, I sensed from the Spirit of God my prayer was done. I had prayed for her already a few times, and again then....
Mess with a Message
“And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” Genesis 15:4-6
“Now Sarai Abram’s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egy...

Are You Willing to Be a FAILURE?
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:24-26
“I don’t want to be a failure in front of all those people,” a friend shared intimately with me one day.
I...
