Lord, Give Me Favor!

“Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” Jam. 4:2-3

“I want more favor than I’ve ever had,” I prayed to the Lord as I waited while three of my sweet dogs nosed their way around the ground during their morning bathroom break. “Not for me, but for you.” Tears. I was astounded, deeply moved, by how the Lord has changed me.

Is Money Your Motive?

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Mt. 6:24

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your...

This Time I Won’t Forgive You

“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?  Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Mt. 18:21-22

This time I won’t forgive you. I’ve forgiven you over and over. And over. This never stops. You keep doing the same thing. Then you come to me and say I’m sorry. Or you don’t say I’m sorry at all. But the bottom line is I can’t take this anymore. I’ve forgiven you...

Paralyzed Dog Runs Away: Faith Lesson

“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7

I had just finished taking paralyzed dog Miss Mercy out of her wheelchair in the hotel hallway and letting her into the hotel room when I returned to the hallway to help paralyzed dog Mr. Simeon out of his wheelchair and into the room. But Mr. Simeon, who most of the time will not go anywhere in hi...

I Was Born to Do This

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:10

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Rev. 4:11

I was born to do this. I am 100% certain I am now doing what God created me to do. But this isn’t about me. It’s about you. What were you born to do? What did God create you to do? Do you know...

It May Not Be Quitting Time

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

I was thrilled one day when the Lord opened wide a door in my ministry work. A door I had been convinced not only was shut, but that most assuredly I would never see open. I was so convinced, in fact, that though there had been opportunities in the past, and though one of those opportunities did in fact remain, I figured I shouldn’t even bother pursuing that avenue again. Why waste my time? Surely the door was clo...

All I Did Was Pick Up Some Trash

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Mt. 5:16

As soon as I bent down and started to pick up some trash off the hotel lobby floor, the kind, sweet voice of a young woman behind the desk whom I had come to know while staying at the hotel called out to me.

“You don’t have to do that,” she said. Emphatically.

“Oh, I don’t mind,” I said happily.

“No, really, you don’t have to do that,” she replied. “You shouldn’t be do...

Paralyzed Dog, Blind Dog Inspire Lesson

Paralyzed Dog, Blind Dog Inspire Lesson

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8

My sweet senior dog Glory who has no eyes has always had a favorite dog to snuggle with. First, Winnie who had no back feet. Then, Gracie who was hit by two cars on the same day. Now, paralyzed dog Mr. Simeon. Never mind the other dogs. She is most content when cuddled up as close as possible to him. Even when she’s lying on top of his le...

The Turtle in the Field

“The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Song of Solomon 2:12-13

The beautiful sunshiny day I was walking my sweet dog Esther through a huge field in a gorgeous park in Virginia and came upon a big turtle smack in the middle of the field was the perfect opportunity to...

The Man Who Wore a Cross

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness…” 1 Peter 2:24

I knew a man who wore a cross. He was not a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Didn’t even believe in Him. He simply had a cross hanging from his neck. I talked to him about it briefly. I don’t remember his response exactly. Nothing remarkable. Not memorable. Something to the effect he wanted to wear it despite not believing in Christ as Lord. Just a symbol t...
