STRENGTH For Today

“Give us this day our daily bread.” Mt. 6:11

“The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.” Psalm 28:7

“The Lord will give strength to His people;
The Lord will bless His people with peace.” Psalm 29:11

“I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my strong...

Lara’s Big Birthday News Update

First, please forgive me for not being as vigilant with writing and sending out my usual Daily Inspiration. My heart and hands have been very busy given the big news with which the Lord has blessed me. And it is possible over the next few weeks I may be less regular in writing given this period of major transition for the Lord. On the other hand, He may well lead me to write just as much if not more than usual. I’m in His hands!

Today is my 51st birthday, and the last thing I ever expected is...

When God’s Directions Don’t Make Sense

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Just three days shy of my 51st birthday, I ordered myself a little birthday present despite the fact I try to minimize all spending to maximize my resources to love and serve Jesus. I bought a big luggage bag for the roof of my car with about 240,000 miles on it. Most of what I possess materially in this world will fit in that car an...

A Few Life-Changing Words

“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” Eph. 4:29

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,…” Proverbs 18:21

Garble garble.

“What did you say?” I asked a loved one over the telephone.

Garble garble.

I thought I knew what he had said. But I wanted to make sure. So I asked again. Then the same answer.

Mumble mumble. Slur slur. Slurred words.

The phone? Bad connection? Mumbled words? Didn’t matter...

When Loved Ones Are Against You

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” 2 Tim. 3:12

One thing I’ve learned about following the Lord Jesus Christ is that loved ones aren’t always on board so to speak – and that sometimes they never are at all. Sometimes we face crucial crossroads. We are clear the Lord is leading us in a certain direction to do a certain thing for a certain purpose in a cert...

Stay Until I Tell You to Go

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.” Psalm 37:23

“Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.” Psalm 37:5

“Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.” Psalm 143:10

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:” Eccl. 3:1

“Stay until I tell you to go,” the Spirit of God spoke to my heart.

Why did I need to hear that? I knew the Lor...

You Choose, God!

What if you went through an entire 24-hour period turning absolutely everything over to the Lord whereby you would truly let God choose everything right down to where you go, what you do, what you say, how you live, with whom you spend time, where you work, what you do for recreation, how you dress, what you eat, what you read, what you look at, how you treat others, whom you help, how you spend your money, how you deal with stress, etc.?

Does this sound like a totally wild way of spending 24...

Do You Want to Argue with Me?

“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.” Gal. 2:20

“He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” Mt. 10:39

“Do you want to argue with me?” the Spirit of God asked me one day.

Just a bit earlier, the Lord had given me some big and unexpected news concerning my future in ministry. I had almos...

I Will NOT Love that Person!

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of t...

Are You Faithful?

“To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Col. 1:2

“as you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf,” Col. 1:7

“Tychicus, a beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant in the Lord, will tell you all the news about me.” Col. 4:7

“a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will make known to you all things which...
