God is NOT Like This

The medical practice sure has changed through the years. Doctors used to show loads of love and compassion, spend plenty of time with their patients, both ask questions and listen, give wisdom and counsel, know their patients personally and show the utmost care, and on it went. I went to a new doctor who grilled me with a long list of questions, gave me a few brief minutes to listen to my concerns, squeezed in an incredibly quick exam, didn’t even look at what I mostly came in to seek help...

When Leaving is HARD

Sometimes leaving people, places, and things is easy. Sometimes it is hard. Sometimes it is so indescribably hard it seems impossible. The bottom line is WE NEED TO LEAVE NO MATTER HOW WE FEEL – WHEN THE LORD MAKES CLEAR HE WANTS US TO MOVE ON.

We must not let our emotions make the decision. We need to make our decision ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF THE LORD – NOT according to how we feel.

Pray to God, friend. Study the Bible. Reach out to His followers who read the Bible to love, help, encourage,...

Homeless Man Goes into Shock

Ever seen someone so shocked and excited at the same time that he literally doesn’t know what to do with himself? Like he could jump up and down in the air a zillion times, shout at the top of his lungs, and celebrate for the rest of his life? That’s just about how excited a homeless man was not when he got a job, not when he was given a warm place to sleep in the brutally cold New York City winter, not when someone told him he had won the lottery, oh no, none of this at all.

“How are you?”...

Go and Bless Them!

Middle of the night. Spending time with Jesus. But had I just heard what I heard? Surely the Lord wouldn’t have said that to me, would He have?

“Go and bless them,” the Lord had spoken. Really? The Lord?

Would He have told me to go BLESS a group of people who were so incredibly evil, so heartless, so cold, so hurtful, so mean, so selfish, so wrong? No way, right? Wrong! Yes way.

The Lord only and always speaks in line with the Bible, and the verses above make clear He had spoken.

I knew what...

Now THIS Is Trust

“Trust in Him at all times, you people;” Psalm 62:8

What if the Lord said THIS to you?

“Trust me. I will lead you. I will guide you. I will provide for you.”

That is exactly what the Lord told me! The Lord only and always speaks by His Spirit to His followers in line with the Bible. So we need to measure what we believe He tells us against His Word. The Bible makes clear the Lord will most assuredly lead, guide, and provide for those who put their trust in Him and faithfully follow Him. For...

Good News Daily – January 8

Dear friend, Today the Lord blessed me with 5 little devotionals which I share with you below. I hope they are a blessing and encouragement to you. I had a busy day joining a monthly worship, prayer, and fellowship meeting with pastors and ministry leaders from New York City and beyond. How refreshing it was to have love and encouragement poured into me as I spend so very much of my life striving to love and encourage others. My well got pretty filled up! I hope these...

It Would Be Easier But –

I was thinking about something that would be easier when the Lord reminded me not to go the easier way, but to go His way.

Following Jesus isn’t about what is easy. It is about what is right. His way always is. No matter how hard His way may seem, He will enable His followers to do just that. To follow Him. He will give us the power, strength, grace, mercy, love, faith, peace, joy, absolutely anything we could possibly need – when we go His way.

Thinking of going the easier way? Already...

God Told Me to Wait, But –

The Lord told me to wait. I waited a few hours. Then I started to come up with a really good plan. What I thought was a good plan anyway. Mine. Not His. It didn’t involve Him. I would forget about the waiting. I would go ahead. With my idea.

Then the Lord in His mercy and patience reminded me.

“Wait,” His Spirit spoke to my heart.

I knew what to do. I have learned the hard way. Rebellion for far too long. I would get rid of my idea. And obey. I would wait. On the Lord.

Why wait? Because Jesus...

Using Your Gifts for God

The Lord doesn’t give us gifts to hoard to ourselves for our own pleasure in total disregard to Him and to the world around us. He gives us gifts to be used to love, worship, and glorify Him and to help others find and follow Him. In the process, we are blessed, yes. But the purpose of His gifts to us isn’t about us. It’s about Him! Friend, are you using the gifts He has given you for self or Christ? For you or others? Have you devoted yourself to Jesus and dedicated your gifts to Him in the...

Be Patient with Them!

Ever noticed when it comes to patience if we have any at all that we may tend to pick and choose with whom we are patient? Oh, sure, we’ll be patient with that beautiful grandchild. Or our loving spouse. Or with our disabled neighbor. But then forget about it when it comes to the representative on the telephone we just called to figure out why our electric bill is messed up. And no way will we be patient with that alcoholic in-law who just can’t seem to stay sober for any length of time.
