Political — Politically correct– just plain nice/mean
I normally try to avoid politics but this is not a blog about parties or issues under debate. This is about HOW we debate. I am shocked in this new internet world of twitter and facebook to realize just how far from civil and united as we stand we have become. Clearly the party system is failing us when our politicians make all decisions based on posturing and making the other party look bad. And we are the public have fallen under their thumb, doing the same thing.
I am shocked and appalled at name calling and nastiness that I read on facebook and twitter. If you want to post an opinion, can you not do it as a civil adult, rather than someone mocking Trump or Obama or whoever? Can we not mock each other or treat each other nastily because we don't agree on a topic? I don't have a problem with an opinion I don't agree with. I have an opinion with the nastiness often delivering that opinion. And I'm not even suggesting people not talk about politics. But if you REALLY want to do your cause good — do you really think insulting the other person's views rather than debating a topic or point, will make them change their mind?
Generic statements like THE GOP all want people to starve or the DEMS all blanky blank blank — make me go OH MY GRRRRR. Yes the GOP want to starve us all and the DEMS want to bankrupt us so China takes us over. That's like saying every woman wants BLANK. Or every black person want BLANK. And people actually tweet. The BLANK PARTY wants to cut off funds for pregnant women.
I can't take it. I just can't. I sometimes just don't want to be on the internet. I told my kids that when school ended they would not have clicks and mean comments to deal with. I forgot to say EXCEPT REPUBLICANS VS DEMOCRATS. We are ONE NATION. ONE PEOPLE. This country doesn't belong to one party. It belongs to the people.
WE are those people. Don't define me by my party. I won't define you by yours. However, I could define you by nastiness and name calling.
I hope that going into a new political season we can be nice.

PLEASE HELP STOP ARC THIEF
If you have an EBAY account please go report this lady. She only has a few arcs up now but that's because my publisher got her pulled down last week. She is back up and running a few 24 hour auctions back to back. Take a look at her history. She has sold HUNDREDS of arcs and I've confirmed she's gotten them from a well know PR person who works with many publishers and when confronted she was far from remorseful. CLEARLY.
She has her ID hidden on ebay but you can request it and should. Requesting her ID and REPORTING her to Ebay will stop this but only if we hit them hard and fast with lots of requests. My publisher is working on this but the EBAY machine works faster with complaints piled on complaints.

For those of you who don't know how ARCS work — publishers send them to reviewers to review the book — well before release. The arcs are not to be sold but reviewed and hopefully enjoyed. Authors get a few too so in things like OPERATION AUCTION these arcs are special because they are not the final copy and they are unique in formatting. THEY are early, not for sale, samples.

They've been doing this a long while without getting caught.
