Inktober iPainting Storm
The Inktober prompt for today is Storm. Automatically, my mind went to a snow storm. Everyone faces storms of different kind. It’s less about the storm, and more about how you weather it. That speaks to preparation. While you can’t prepare for every contingency, you can prepare to face the unexpected,
Knowing you’re going to face unforeseen challenges, helps prepare you, both to be flexible, and seek help from those you trust. Storms have a way of eliminating things that separate us, because they are far less important. What is important is, we all face something, and we’re stronger together, than we are apart.

My Current Palette
So my favorite traveling watercolor tin had worn so that it wouldn’t stay closed. When it’s the one you keep in your backpack, that’s a problem. I had got tired of adding tape each time. So I took a similar tin, not so worn, and moved my colors to it.
In the process, I was able to add two more pans, bringing my travel palette to 14 colors. The colors already in my palette were great, but these definitely add something. How long has it been since you’ve added something to your mental palette?
The danger of getting older isn’t the aches and pains to me. It’s the settling in the past. I’ve seen people that, mentally, seem to have stopped learning and growing. Now, I’m not talking about suddenly changing your wardrobe, or embracing some mid life crisis corvette.
Just talking about things like, do I still open an encyclopedia to learn something new? Do I watch some things besides my favorite show to improve my skill set. By the way, I’m not just talking about painting, I’m talking about whatever we do.
For example, I’ve only been a husband for fourteen years. Am I still trying to learn, or am I going through the same motions I did at eight years? If the answer is yes, then I’ve got some learning to do. If the answer is no, I’ve still got some learning to do.
So I challenge you to learn something new today, about something. One new thought will generate others. It’s a great way of improving your mental landscape, and will add a touch of color to those around you!
Inktober Sketch Rocket
I grew up in the 80s, and I remember space shuttle launches. What was fascinating was this. Such powerful machines, capable of reaching space, had to be launched under specific conditions.
No matter how talented you are, you cannot succeed on your own. Behind every astronaut on the moon, is a team firmly planted. Our greatest successes are never our own, but a combination of mercy, love, and the contribution of those who care about us.

Inktober Midnight Ride To The Outpost
Outpost was the prompt for today’s inktober, and I thought of the midnight rider. He and his horse silhouetted against the night sky. Only parts of him were visible, but you could see movement.
In 2020, some things are still in shadow, but rest assured there is movement. You may not see everything yet, but God has a plan. An answer is on the way for those who are looking, even if you can’t quite make sense of it all just yet.

Inktober iPainting Armor
The inktober prompt for today is armor. From the lowly armadillo to the mighty rhinoceros, God gave many of His creatures a natural armor. Armor is more than a shiny knight in a fairy tale. It’s a means of everyday life.
We all must have something to protect us when the unexpected hits us, well like a knight on horseback. There isn’t time to suit up when you’re in a crisis, that’s why He equips us ahead of time. If we’re daily communicating with God, He will direct our steps, both to, and from the battle with our armor intact!

Inktober iPainting Sand Dune
Today’s inktober prompt was dune. A sand dune is a large mass of wind blown sand. It’s big enough to stand on, but the wind that blew it there, can also blow it away again.
It reminded me of the parable of Jesus. The one concerning the house built on the sand, and the one built on the rock. In 2020, it’s important to have a firm foundation. That way you’ll be secure when the wind starts blowing.

Watercolor Chimpanzee In A Tree
God’s Creation is so amazing. Whether you’re talking about the constellations, or the amazing animals all around us, the precision and uniqueness of each is so stunning.
Inktober iPainting Slippery
Today’s Inktober prompt was slippery. Some would say it’s appropriate on a rainy Monday, yet if we pay attention to the signs we can avoid pitfalls. This year has been a myriad of issues, but if we take heed to The One Who directs our path, we can come out okay. The Psalmist David said it this way …
Psalms 18:36 (ESV)
36 You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip.
Watch out ahead, God has put up some signs to help you be more sure footed, both today, and in the days ahead.

Inktober A Matter Of Taste
Today’s word for Inktober, I wasn’t excited about, it was the word disgusting. Yet if you look the word up, it has to do with taste. Now I love fried chicken, my wife does not, she only likes boneless chicken. The difference is a matter of taste. The same is true of deserts. I have a sweet tooth, but a lot of people can’t stand the sweetness. So, since it’s all a matter of taste, this cake is my way of dealing with the #inktober prompt today. How do you deal with the distasteful things in life? Like many things, how you approach it, is how palatable it can be.

Watercolor Baby Fox Sleeping
While our little Fox was napping, I painted this watercolor, Baby Fox Sleeping.
