Poem – Purposely Bored

Bored, it’s something that I dread,

To feel this way hurts my heart and head,

For God has been too good

There’s no reason that it should

Rob my joy or bother me

I’m happy and content you see

Still it tries and I’m always puzzled

At how best to cause it to be muzzled

Then I thought of the spelling of this pest

That took care of the rest

B or ed like a boy with oars

Anxious to cross distant shores

Let’s call him simply Ed

Eager to charge ahead

He’s got the paddles but no boat

An idea to keep afloat

Then from Heaven a gentle whisper

Brought understanding made it crisper

Bored is not your enemy but a friend

For the dispatch was Heaven’s wind

To mold, shape and to form

A craft to weather a new storm

Every trial is from God allowed

To break up soil and cause to be plowed

So seed can be planted and started to grow

Don’t you know He loves you so

An any boredom you may feel

Is only a servant to accomplish His Will

A spark, a starter, this persistent flame

I’ll never look at Boredom quite the same

July 4th Signers

We read the words of the Declaration Of Independence within safe houses, peaceful states, and a free land. Jefferson wrote it with the threat of death a very real possibility. Each man signed it, affirming his willingness to give his life for freedom, knowing it was the likely outcome.

When Abraham Lincoln sought to speak to the pains of Civil War at Gettysburg, he pointed back to it. Many an American has read it at times when freedom called them to sign their name to it. From Soldiers to Presidents, these words inspired Americans from all walks of life.

Many know the first signature was that of John Hancock, yet many do not know it was his voice that helped later inspire Massachusetts to ratify another document, the Constitution. There are so many stories, both of the signers and Americans of every season since, who’s story we don’t all know. What we do know is we benefit from all of their sacrifices.

For the whole list of signers isn’t limited to 1776. It’s had names added to it from that momentous occasion all the way to 2021. The scratches, loops, and dots that make up their signatures do not fully illustrate the struggles they fought, but they do remind us of the grace in which they made these sacrifices. Today may all Americans celebrate life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!

iPainting Bee Eater Bird

Only God can take the same colors and make them so vivid and unique in every creature. Like them, we are unique, crafted by God, Loved, and considered special to Him.

Sketch Assumptions Cats and Doors

The cat heard a sound and meowed. The man assumed it was wrong, so he ignored it. The cat heard a sound, meowed, and moved to the door. The man ignored it.

The cat heard a sound, meowed, and started scratching at the door. The man, who had just painted the door, assumed the cat was wrong, but went to open the door. His intention was to prove her wrong, her intention was to save his life.

Just as he came to the door, a tractor trailer who had lost it’s break went barreling through the wall where the man had been sitting. There is danger in assumptions. There is danger in not listening, but if we listen, we may not only have doors opened, we may avoid obstacles.

Sketch Penguin Profile

Sometimes a sketch works, not because of what you include, but what you left out.
