SRMU university and Kitaab Festival 2018, Lucknow

Lovely time in Lucknow.

The SRMU university and Kitaab festival was a smooth, well-organized event. So effortless it seemed, that I can estimate the planning gone into it.

I was in conversation with Novoneel Chakraborty on around ‘What the youth wants to read in contemporary India’ and on a panel discussion on how women from minority communities are represented.

This was also the Lucknow launch of The Best Asian Short Stories that you may buy, clicking here:

Enjoyed the confluence of rich literature and language, Ganga-Jamuna culture. A feast of discussions, perspectives, and friendships followed. Not to forget the cuisine and ittr: I got ‘pari’ and ‘jaadu’ and keep inhaling from my wrist.

The kebabs! gawalati, mutton biryani, …monuments…

My review of Kate Rogers’ book ‘Out of Place’ in Cha Journal (March 2018).

My review of Kate Rogers‘ book ‘Out of Place’ in Cha Journal (March 2018).

[Review] The Solution Is to Read Slowly: Kate Rogers’s Out of Place

Kate Rogers says, “What a thrill to wake up to this review of my new poetry collection, “Out of Place” in Cha: An Asian Literary Journal (March 2018). The insights and praise from courgaeous, irreverent Mumbai poet Rochelle Potkar have made my day. This was just what I needed to feed my hungry poet soul as I work with the determination and patience required to craft a new collection of poems. It is also rewarding to know two more reviews of my work will be appearing in Canadian literary journals in the next few months. Thank you for this boost, Rochelle, and Cha.

— with Jeff Zroback Tammy Ho and Rochelle Potkar.”

Hyderabad + Odisha Literature festival photos

So I had some dinchak and awesome fun at Hyderabad meeting up with old friends, and talking way into the moonfull night, and then again at Odisha. With the Konark Sun Temple and Puri beach Odisha becomes incomparable. A trot into the dusty lanes of Cuttack to find Jayanta Mahapatra, incomparable. We exchanged words, books, gifts.

I was so glad to have met Manu Dash, Sonnet Mondal, Sarabjeet Garcha, Shobhana Kumar, Ajaya Mahala, Kala Ramesh, Angelee Deodhar, Manju Kapur, and so many many new writers, poets, and perspectives that ask me if I ain’t still in a crazy, cross-eyed hangover?

I went to Walking BookFairs and came away inspired with the robust vision of Satabdi Mishra and Akshaya Rautaray.

I am so grateful.
