Celebration of rejections
These days the rejections I get are more cause for celebration than acceptances. These rejections are not sent by spam bots but humans and they revel in perspectives. Whether I agree with them or not, I feel so connected, and happy.
Please note: These rejections came as emails. I converted them to certificates to honor their insight and time investment by very busy editors.

The Writer’s Carnival 2015, Hyderabad
I was the morning hostess on both days at The Writer’s Carnival, Hyderabad on 10th and 11th January.

In the afternoon, on Day 1 I conducted a fiction-writing workshop, and on Day 2 a haiku and haibun writing workshop with Akila G.
The participants on both days in this Carnival were very bright and interactive in seeking, learning, and understanding.
I had a lot of fun listening to all that they wrote, critiquing their writings as we went along…

My interview in The Hindu (dated: 4th Dec 2014)
Rochelle Potkar agrees that poetry can be incomprehensible and that she’s quite surprised to be a poet herself. “I did advertising and an MBA. A copywriter was as close as I could get to being a poet,” laughs the 35-year-old.
As a fiction writer, Rochelle said she realised that we consume a lot of stories:
“It’s like food,” and poems, she says, “are like fine, distilled water; something that’s necessary.” According to her, poetry can be recited in any tone, irrespective of how it’s written. “Poetry has abstract metaphors and it’s more of a philosophical contemplation; it’s the language of your dreams. While fiction is concrete; you know what is going to happen.”

Poems for the Road podcast
Robin Vaughan-William’s poems from the Road podcast is airing every Thursday this month (December) on internet station Hive Radio from 5 to 6 pm.
A poetic journey down Britain’s A-roads and motorways, the show explores the abstraction, violence, landscapes, and migrations that characterise our experience of the road.
It features the work of twenty-six poets, including Luke Wright, Ann Hamblen, Mark Gwynne Jones, River Wolton, James Caruth, Clare Best, and many others.
My poem ‘Holiday’ features in this collection too. ‘The only poem in the show to take us outside the UK.’

At Cappuccino Readings we caught many a poem on 21 Nov, 2014
For 100’s of more photos of this day and event please follow Cappuccino Readings on Facebook.
The poems in this book, ‘To Catch a poem’ were funny, sweet, and some so contemplative that it truly makes this a bouquet of poems for young people. What a treat!
Wasn’t this the voice that went on in my head as I grew up? I thought as I listened these poems.
This book is edited by Anju Makhija and Jane Bhandari.
Of art other than the word…
My friend, Inam Hussain Mullick, (poet, musician, photographer, actor, theatre practitioner, and journalist from Kolkata) met me and shot this. And this even got selected and featured on Visual Fire:

Did I gulp the wine too hurriedly after the shortlist? Did I leave the building too early?
I’m just coming back.
