Thank You Readers, Subscribers, Reviewers!
Over the holiday weekend, our family kicked-off the unofficial start to summer by celebrating our grandson’s first birthday, watching as he ran around the party room on toddler legs, wondering how the year flew by so fast.
The weekend brought other surprises for which I’m grateful. My fantasy romance novella HER IMMORTAL VIKING received hundreds of unexpected tweets from readers, reviewers, and other authors to spread the word about its feature appearance on the MFRW book blog. Many others tweeted about my new release LIP SERVICE. Thank you for your wonderful support.
The weekend also brought lots of new followers to this blog. Since the 2013 inception of Down To Earth Romance 817 people have subscribed. Thank you! Linda Anderson, aka “Legs,” and Jack Harris have been dancing around each other since they made mud pies together as children. Only one thing could stand between them: Legs’ Aunt Ada. Once Ada died and left her house to her niece, Jack decided to make his move. Unfortunately, Ada is not as gone as he thought, and she is not exactly pleased with what has been going on in her bedroom. While there’s certainly enough material here for a longer story, this novella zips along. One can only hope for a sequel with more of Ada’s backstory.
Verdict: A quick ghost story from Downs (Naturally Yours; Santa to the Rescue) that is perfect for passing the time on your way to your vacation.—Emily Thompson, Univ. of Tennessee at Chattanooga Lib.

(BRYN MAWR, PA) Lady Jane’s Salon – Philadelphia will kick off our first event with Romantic Suspense night, including readings from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laura Kaye, award-winning author Veronica Forand, and P.A. DePaul. The authors will read excerpts from their latest books and hold Q&A with readers. My Mother’s Original 1930 Copy of Nancy Drew
Did you read Nancy Drew mysteries as a girl? Or the Hardy Boys when you were a boy? I loved the Nancy Drew series and devoured them as an adolescent and young teen. My favorite was The Witch Tree Symbol. I liked the paranormal woo-woo overtones of the title and full-color cover, though the story turned out to be as sensible as Nancy’s sleuthing shoes. Still, I kept that book in my collection well into adulthood.
The Secret of The Old Clock was the first Nancy Drew mystery published in 1930. This original copy belonged to my mother. Notice the detailed illustration. Her copy is fragile and the pages are very brown, but this book is a treasure. I gave my copies of Nancy Drew away years ago, but have kept my mother’s in a place of honor on my bookshelf.

May 2015 is the third annual International Short Story Month, inspired by April’s National Poetry Month, which began in 1996. Short stories have made a huge comeback with the introduction of ebooks and e-readers and some claim we’re poised for another “short story golden age.”
Do you read and enjoy short stories? Personally, I love them. Short stories give us the opportunity to try an author’s work without a huge time commitment or financial investment.
