Margarita Tips From a Fireman!
It’s Friday! What better time to enjoy a fun adult beverage than the weekend?
Here’s the perfect autumn pumpkin margarita recipe from one of my favorite sites Sauza Tequila®.
The Sauza® Harvest
Ingredients:
Spoonful of pumpkin puree
1 part Maple Syrup
2 parts Sauza® Signature Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
How to make:
Rim glass with brown sugar. Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake and strain over ice into a margarita glass. Garnish with star anise.

Halloween Sky, Full Moon–Photos
Luna, our beautiful moon, fascinates me, and for a time I took a casual interest in learning about its phases and its intricate relationship to earth and our oceans. One of the benefits of living in the country is the vastness of a night sky that lets us enjoy the view of the moon and stars for as long as we’d like to linger.
The sky seemed to peel back layers the night of this stunning full moon, and so I grabbed my camera. I took these pictures on the front lawn of my home in southeastern Pennsylvania.
If I hadn’t seen this sky with my own eyes, and taken a series of photographs that included this one, I might have assumed the picture was created by a cover artist for a science fiction or urban fantasy novel. This stunning display greeted me outside my front door.
Fun moon facts about October:
October is the month of the Blood Moon, also called Hunter’s Moon or Travel Moon. The Blood Moon is named for the ancient custom of killing and salting common livestock before winter’s cold and snow made it impossible for families to feed their animals. Only the most vital livestock were cared for during those harsh months. In modern times we recognize the need to prepare for frigid temperatures by raking fallen leaves from our lawns, ‘winterizing’ our cars and houses, and deep cleaning our homes before the holiday season arrives.
The full Blood Moon rises at sunset Tuesday, October 27, 2015, three days after the astrological calendar moves into the sign of Scorpio. Since there will be no full moon for Halloween until 2020, Trick or Treat’ers will walk to the light of the waning full moon this year. — Adele Downs

The roar of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Rachel’s block and the rev of a throttle in her driveway announced Jack’s arrival. Legs tried to appear nonchalant when he walked through the poolside gate, but the sight of his sun-streaked hair and tanned, muscular good looks nearly knocked her off her seat. She eased her sunglasses down the bridge of her nose to get a better look.
When he stepped into the pool area dressed in black jeans, black biker boots, and a white muscle shirt that framed his pumped-up shoulders and biceps, she caught her breath. Everyone in the group said “hey” and Rachel offered him a cold drink, but his focus had remained on her. He slid his sunglasses on top of his head and nodded in her direction.
Legs remembered his gaze meeting hers before his attention strayed to her gold and black bikini then savored every inch of her skin. An appreciative smirk curled his lips and desire flashed in his beautiful blue eyes. He took a long pull of the soft drink someone handed him and then set the can down on the patio table. He looked her way and said, “Want to go for a ride?”
The invitation came out like a dare. All eyes shifted to her, watching to see what she’d do. They all knew she wasn’t allowed to date Jack Harris. Taking a ride on his motorcycle might not have been the same thing, but there would be hell to pay if her aunt found out.

Hello All! I have a few announcements:
After two years of building a readership of over 900 subscribers to this WordPress blog (thank you!) I finally bit the bullet and built a website http://adeledowns.com/
I know I created my platforms backwards, since authors typically unveil their website first, but I like the freedom and instant communication that comes with blogging. My website allows me to do more with my book page and photography page, though, so the two sites will provide all the flexibility I need to keep in touch with my readers.

Contemporary Romance Night at Lady Jane’s Salon Philly @LadyJanesPhilly
The consensus of book lovers who attended Contemporary Romance Night at Lady Jane’s Salon Philly was, “We had fun!”
Despite torrential rain with heavy downpours and street flooding, romance lovers turned out for an evening with authors Susan Scott Shelley, Judi Fennell, and Adele Downs at Main Point Books in Bryn Mawr, PA and gave us a warm welcome. Susan read from her book Rekindled, Adele read from Lip Service, and Judi read from What A Woman Wants. We sipped wine, nibbled chocolate, gave away prizes, and had lots of laughs despite the weather.
