Oh, Brother, by Rebecca Paulinyi
Oh, Brother
When Lily’s irritating older brother is killed, the whole family is plunged into mourning. Everyone, that is, except for Lily. Because Lily can still see – and hear – her brother Sam. She is not surprised to find that he is just as annoying as he was when he was alive – and yet as the only one who can communicate with him, she is forced to make an effort. One question hangs over them: how long will the ghost of Sam stick around?

Secrets and Pies
Summertime in Crystal Bay means tourist season for Calliope “Callie” Costas, owner of Callie’s Kitchen, a Greek-meets-Midwest from-scratch eatery. Business is booming but so is the stress. Callie can barely keep up with the demand for her famous summer fruit pies and savory Greek delicacies, plus she’s agreed to bake dozens of “pitas” for the annual Greek Fest.
When Callie is asked to deliver cast party treats for a Murder Mystery Night at the historic Harris House, it seems like a welcome break from her hot stove. That is, until she finds herself an unwilling player in yet another suspicious death. Worse yet, the victim is a family friend and graduate student working on a project involving Crystal Bay’s colorful past.
Before long, a motley crew of suspects makes things as juicy as the succulent berries strewn around Callie’s Kitchen. And that’s not all Callie’s got on her plate. Add family obligations, a deepening romance with a local detective and unexpected personnel problems to the mix.

Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’s niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now…private investigator. Sort of.
Needing someone he can trust, her father sends her undercover to Nocturne Falls to find out why employees at the Santa’s Workshop toy store are going missing.
Doing that requires getting to know the town, which leads to interesting encounters with a sexy vampire, an old flame, and an elevator that’s strictly off-limits. The more Jayne finds out, the more questions she has, but the answers lead her deeper into danger.
Will her magic save her? Or will she come up cold?
Better off Wed, by Laura Durham
Better off Wed
Annabelle Archer is a few days away from completing the most elaborate wedding she’s ever planned. As she daydreams about the doors her perfect reception could unlock for her business, she stumbles over a dead body at the bottom of the stairs. The planner is horrified to recognize the body lying underfoot as the mother of the bride. When the police determine the victim was poisoned, Annabelle’s best friend and caterer becomes the prime suspect.
As she works to clear her best friend’s name, Annabelle discovers the bride’s mother had more enemies and secrets than she could ever fit on the guest list. To save her business and her friend, D.C.’s premiere wedding planner must find the killer.
Even Witches get the Blues, by J.D. Winters
Even Witches get the Blues
Haley is a witch with amnesia and she might be the most normal thing in the spooky town of Moonhaven.
She wakes up in a strange motel room, no idea who she is, with just the clothes on her back and, weirdly, the deed to a property in Moonhaven where everybody seems to know her. Back for less than a day she discovers, in no short order, that she has an entire missing family, a town history as a wild child, and a grandmother who seems to want her to prepare to save civilization. Not only that, she’s the lead suspect in a murder and Deputy Sheriff Shane McAllister knows more about her than he should. The real murderer is on the move.

With Christmas coming, Zachary needs something to keep his mind off his own troubles.
About He Was Walking Alone
He met with tragedy
Richard Harding was walking alone when he was struck by a vehicle and died. A tragic accident that was no one’s fault. But if that was so, then why was his girlfriend so sure that it was intentional homicide? Zachary Goldman is on the case. With Christmas approaching, he is as determined to distract himself from his own troubles as he is to ferret out the truth of Harding’s death.
The pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place and Zachary finds that there are more parallels between Harding’s life and his own than he would have guessed. If he doesn’t identify the sinister force behind Harding’s death in time, he could suffer the same fate.

— an amazing and suspenseful story. It carries you away into a psychological tailspin that keeps you going in so many different directions.
— A really good piece of detective fiction with some novel and original features which keep the reader guessing until the last few pages.
— I love the way the investigation plays out…very interesting. That is done very well. It held my interest. I very much wanted to find out the outcome…
— Very well written. [Zachary] is flawed with a capital F … In spite of his problems, he is a very sympathetic character and doggedly pursues the truth.
— [She Wore Mourning] made for a pleasant read while presenting an interesting story.
— What a great story. Fabulous plot with interesting and complex characters. I was totally involved into the wee hours. Many twists and left waiting until the end. Highly recommended
— Wow! I just finished it. In one day! I could not stop reading it! This book grabs hold of you from the start. It’s a very well written detective novel. It pulls you not the story and is very emotional. You feel for the characters. This is the first novel I have read by this author but it will not be my last. I highly recommend this book.

“Inseguita dal passato” è un avvincente thriller psicologico nel quale il cattivo non è un mostro o un vampiro, ma un’ombra del passato. È un incubo che potrebbe accadere a chiunque. Come fare a sopravvivere?
Regali anonimi. Oggetti spostati in camera da letto.
L’ordine restrittivo non cambia le cose. Anzi, forse le peggiora. Se Vanna rivuole indietro la sua vita, dovrà cavarsela da sola.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme. Read the rules and more teasers at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along.
This is an interesting book! The International Thriller Writers have put together FaceOff, an anthology by 23 major crime writers collaborating to bring their characters together in 11 head-to-head stories. I’ve enjoyed reading a lot of these writers and their characters, and it’s been a lot of fun to see them meeting each other and interacting!
He made a mental note to find a map and then chart a way back to the airport that did not include going through a tunnel. Too bad the car’s GPS didn’t have a NO TUNNELS setting. He would have to find his way back to the airport on his own.
