Feeling nostalgic

Here was my attempt from my high school years (age 17):
If thou fearest the future, then thou haste not listened to thy heart.
For thou art as a bud in the springtime
And as a bud, must bloom in the sunlight.
Which is as that which is the eternal birth of love
So is the bud as it becomes the rose
So haste thou nothing to fear.

I usually try to say something about writing in this blog or something uplifting. Today, I'm writing about a pet peeve of mine - cleaning glass shower doors. I know that this has nothing to do with being a writer. It has nothing to do with scenic sunrises, warm sand or is particularly uplifting in any way. It is, however, one of the irritations of life that I have struggled with for over ten years.
I have tried many cleaners by numerous manufacturers that have promised everything under the sun. It will make my life easier. It will work quickly with little effort. It will be the answer to my prayers. All have failed me.
My husband saw something on T.V. about home remedies for many cleaning problems. The one that caught him was the use of dryer sheets to clean glass doors. This has been what I've been using for the past couple of years. It has worked the best, though it takes a lot of elbow grease, the doors must be totally dry, and I'm always worried that I'll pop a door out of place from scrubbing so hard. That is, until today.
A friend at work was told by another friend who heard it from another friend that dandruff shampoo will do the trick. You don't have to get anything expensive. It's the one ingredient in it that does the trick. So what did I have to lose? I drove to my local dollar store, brought home a bottle and tried it. Oh my gosh!!! It worked so easy. I just wiped it on, rinsed it off and dried it with a cloth. It was beautiful!!
So that's my story. A miracle happened at my house today. It may be a simple thing, but it made my day!!

I just spent a chunk of my morning digging out from a snowstorm. Every time it snows I find myself thinking of warm sand and sunny skies. This time of year it's probably best to pull the shades and work on my writing. If not, I might do something rash like packing up the entire house, putting a for sale sign in the yard and moving south with no plan at all for financial survival. Ah, but it's good to dream.

I'm getting to be a big fan of Twitter. Through Twitter I have been able to reach out to readers, writers and reviewers, not only in the United States, but around the world. And, the audience continues to grow. If you haven't checked out Twitter, you should give it a shot. Not only does it give you exposure, but I've found some great input from other writers. Check it out, you won't be sorry.

Well, I'm facing another birthday tomorrow. Somehow, the excitement of another birthday left me after the age of 21. It was all down hill after that!
I recently read an article on Facebook about a man that didn't publish a book until he was in his ninties. Despite his age, he managed to have three published before his death. I found great comfort in the fact that I may still have time to write bookshelves full of books before I'm gone. I love to create things to share, not only writing, but art as well.
So maybe I'm getting older (and hopefully wiser) and the knees don't work as well as they once did, but I can still enjoy the fulfillment of putting words on paper. It gives me purpose and hope for a brighter future. Here's hoping that others will enjoy my creations as well.
