Tracking the Vision: Building the Platform for the Creation of Ideas

In the book, I speak a lot about the vision and how the idea, of which the written form is the proposal, is a portion or a “snapshot” of the vision. The vision that you have is four-dimensional; you see how it will, or should, play out over time in terms of the results, the outputs and outcomes. Your vision is, or should be, greater than any one funding opportunity, though it might be started and urged on by what had been determined as a need, and therefore funding.

But the question is, how ar...

Where there is no Vision, the Proposals perish

Forgive this slight modification of this well known Proverb (28:18), but it does indeed apply to grant writing. There are a multitude of translations of this verse and the second part mainly speaks towards a lack of control or constraint. Where this is important to you is that one of the key aspects of a good grant proposal, or an “idea” as I speak about in my book is cohesion.

Why is this important, and what does it have to do with vision. Your idea, what you are writing about in the proposal...

Goodreads and Other News

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year I am so thankful to have been blessed with the strength and inspiration to complete my book, and a thankful in advance to be able to finish the others. I hope to have the next books out by the end of the year. That is my goal.

The second Goodreads giveaway will end on Saturday night at midnight. I should be able to send the books on Monday, and they should be delivered by week’s end. To this point, there are a few less entrants into the giveaway than last month, bu...

General Book News, Updates on Audiobook

The release of the audiobook version of “Reviewer-Focused Grant Writing” is delayed until further notice due to unforeseeable circumstances.

[As Forest Gump (Tom Hanks) says, "That's all I have to say about that."]

On to other news…

The grant writing season seems to be in full swing. I imagine that for good reasons it lines up with the school year. I have already been asked to serve on a panel for a regional grant. It is a send-in-the-review type panel; there will be no meeting or conference cal...

Managing Relationships in Grant Writing – Part 3

In the book,Reviewer-Focused Grant Writing, many of the tips involve building and maintaining relationships. Grant writing is an art as much as it can be a science, and relationships play a major part in the success of any submission. There are three classes of relationship that are key in the process, namely your relationship with the grantor, your cooperators, supporters, and vendors, and your colleagues.

Goodreads, ACX and more…

At the time of this writing, there are 87 entrants into the second Goodreads giveaway. There is still a lot of time left in the promotion as it will continue until December 1st. I am ecstatic that again so many have entered into the giveaway, many of whom entered into the first one last month.

As for last months giveaway, I can confirm that at least two have received the book. One of them is currently posting progress in reading, the other sent me a nice note. I hope that all 10 of the books d...

Goodreads Giveaway, Part II – Return of the Reviewer

By today, or perhaps tomorrow, the 10 books that I sent out to the Goodreads giveaway winners will arrive. I sent the books out on Tuesday by regular mail, but I mailed them from work, which is in a rural area, which might add an extra day to the delivery. The farthest deliver spot is Washington State.

I am happy to announce a new giveaway for this month of three copies of the book. At the time of this writing, there are 45 entrants, in the first day. I am pleased with the kind of exposure tha...

Goodreads Giveaway Results!

The Goodreads giveaway for my book ended early Sunday morning in the wee hours of the night. When last I posted there were somewhere in the 200s of entrants to the giveaway. When I check my Goodreads account on Sunday morning I got the final count and the list of winners of the giveaway.

There were 383 entrants.

I could not believe it. There were 383, seriously? For real. I had texted my Mother to let her know, and she texted back to me asking if it was a typo. I am really honored and humbled t...
