Because you asked for it, print it is! The CreateSpace Chronicle

Ok, perhaps that is being a bit grandiose, but when I went to the grant writing workshop last week, it became clear to me that a lot of people do have e-readers, but a lot do not. And I am not just speaking about socioeconomics; some people are just more accustomed to paper books.

I have to admit that I am too. My wife and I went to a bookstore a few weeks ago and I got a book there. I was really about to use my phone to find out how much the Kindle version of the paperback I was reading costs...

My First Signing

On Wednesday, at Tuskegee University, I had my first “book signing”. Obviously, because I have an e-book, I did not sign people’s books, or their Kindles, but I did order rack cards from Vistaprint that had the cover image and information about the book. I signed those and I probably gave out about two dozen.

The event was a workshop on grant writing that was held as a pre-conference before a Biomedical Conference hosted by the College of Vet Med. The workshop was well attended; probably over...

Triage… A (secret) tool of panel reviews… And how you can avoid it.

I am not sure if this is a secret or not, but I have been on some panels where they conducted a triage of the proposals. That is to say, not every proposal received a full presentation for consideration of the panel. It is usually done in cases where there are a lot, and I mean a lot of proposals that have been submitted and there is very limited time to discuss them.

Please remember that for most panels, the panelists are compensated by the day. It would be good to save a much time as possibl...

More Book News… Now on Google Play for your phone or tablet

As I write this, I have just been successful (I think) at uploading my book to Google Play. I had been trying all weekend with no success. The issue was that Google Play uses an Epub for books and I just have not worked with that format before. PDFs I know fairly well.

I had downloaded Calibre and Sigil to help me with the process, and even checked some sites on how to create an epub. Honestly they did not help and they just may have been old. Ultimately, the latest method of simply uploading...
