First Line Friday – Operation Sasquatch
Ahh, we’ve finally made it to Lon’s book. Ari’s hairy sasquatch friend is going to get his turn at lovin’. WOOT! But first, Ari has a few issues of her own to work her head around…
Watching the love of your life come face-to-face with one of the women who’d sexually abused him was nerve-wracking.
Ari chewed on her thumbnail and mentally calculated the distance between her and the Liath Mor female who had her head submissively bowed. She probably couldn’t take the female down, but she could do some damage trying.
Surely even a supernatural would have a hard time coming back from having her eyes clawed out.
“Your presence distresses my mate,” Liam rumbled. “Unless you are doing business for the elders, you are not welcome here.”
He was a far sight kinder than Ari would have been in his shoes.
Not that her honey wore shoes. Or clothes, for that matter. He stood gloriously naked, arms crossed over his chest and tree trunk legs planted firmly on the ground. For all his dominant body language, his slilthern had curled protectively around his cock, telling Ari everything she needed to know.
The Liath Mor female’s eyes flicked over to her and Ari scowled. She’d love to punch the larger female in the throat and leave her gasping on the floor, but Liam had some old fashioned ideas about chivalry.

I’m having a moment here. I’ve written 18 books in Ari’s world. EIGHTEEN. They average about 50 pages, but that’s still a decent amount of books. Incredibly, I still have a few ideas brewing for her and her monstrous friends. *sly grin*

First Line Friday – Operation Gargoyle
Another little interaction between Ari and Vane. Because I find the two of them VERY amusing when they start poking at one another.
“We haven’t—” He stopped, his cheeks darkening.
Narrowing her eyes, Ari studied her suddenly fidgety friend. “You haven’t what? Had sex?” When he twitched at her question, Ari’s mouth fell open and a new emotion flooded her system. “Why not? What’s wrong with her? Doesn’t she like monsters? Girls are such fucking prudes about that sometimes.”
“It’s complicated.”
Ari snorted. Complicated was sleeping your way through a large chunk of the supernatural population while your honey was getting his knob polished under duress. In truth, that hadn’t been all that complicated in the end.
The point was, she could deal with complications. She would crush them beneath the heel of her cute ballet flats.

I do enjoy the thrill of releasing a new book into the wild. And with only 2 more books to go after this, I’m SUPER excited to know another series will be closing out soon. LOLOL! Oh, Ari.
“You don’t need my help?” The wail burst out of her despite her valiant effort to keep it locked down.
It was probably petty, but it made her feel slightly better when Vane’s expression morphed into one of chagrin. He didn’t like when she cried. He didn’t like any emotional extremes, to be honest.
Which made their friendship somewhat amusing since she was all about emotion and color and screaming her feelings to the sky.
Sometimes literally when she and Liam got busy outside.
“Now, Arabella—”
Why did all the monsters resort to using her full name when they were trying to placate her? Liam did it constantly.
“Vane,” she wailed.

Looking back on April…
Another month is on its way out and that makes it a perfect time to take a look back on what I accomplished.
April is a Camp NaNo month, which I always get a kick out of. I wrote my December release over the first half of the month (I’m writing WAY ahead this year) which will be book 2 in a new series. I’m not going to say too much about it just yet, but the series focuses on a pride of cat shifters and involves a lot of hissing and clawing. Most of it of the good kind.
The second half of the month let me dive into a genre I’ve flirted with forEVER. Sci-Fi Romance. I grew up on a steady diet of Anne McCaffrey and have been enamored of science fiction with strong female leads since I was in junior high. Finding out there was a whole sub-genre of sci-fi that focused on romance among the stars pretty much made me pee myself in excitement. Branching out into this particular genre might not happen under the Kelly Apple name, but I do see it happening some time in the future. (The far future. Like, 2017 or ’18.)
Operation Minotaur was released on April 13th. The preorder for Operation Gargoyle is up and you can pick it up for under a buck through the first week of release.
April was good. Here’s to a productive May!

First Line Friday – Operation Gargoyle
This week, you’re getting a little glimpse of how Ari sees Vane. I have a soft spot for stoic men who happen to be able to turn to stone, so…he’s sort of a favorite of mine.
The first time she’d climbed the tower, Ari had been in an interesting place. Worried for her beloved’s life, she’d been trying to gather supernaturals to her cause to free him. She’d been willing to do anything to garner the support of those she believed would be helpful.
Since then, she’d been here on many occasions. She’d come during the day to talk things out with the stony guardian who made his home in the uppermost level of the tower. She’d come at night to try to lure him into joining her and the other supernaturals in get togethers.
She’d found Vane had a sly sense of humor, one that came out more and more as he relaxed around her and the others. She liked the gargoyle. He was handsome and strong and crazy intimidating when he scowled.
More than that, beneath his stony exterior, he was surprisingly sweet.
