Configure The Product Search To Quickly Filter Products At Order Entry
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
Sometimes, having too much of something is not the best situation to be in, and this is especially true if you sell a number of products that are similar, and you are trying to find the right product to put on a sales order. Don’t despair though, with the R3 release a new feature is available that allows you to perform an in-line search as you are creating the sales order over multiple fields at once and then give you a filtered list of matchin...

Declutter Your System By Turning Off License Features You Don’t Use
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
Dynamics AX is chock full of useful features, but you probably don’t need to use it all right away, and in some cases even through other people will need a particular feature you may never consider using it. Rather than having everything enabled within the system, you can use the license configuration tool to deactivate is so that it’s not showing up on the forms, and the menus. Later on if you find that you want to use the feature then you can...

Create Open Ended Filters By Using Ranges With No Beginning Or End
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
Everyone knows that you can use the “..” to search for ranges of records when you filter out your data, but it becomes even more useful when you skip either the beginning or end filter selection because then you can create a filter for everything before, or everything after a certain value.
It’s like creating your own version of the Neverending (or Neverbegginning ) story.

Create Customer Sales Order Templates With Item Lists
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is chock full of useful features, but sometimes they are a little reclusive, and you have to know where to find them. An example of this is the Customer Item Lists function that allows you to create item lists based on customer sales history and then use them as order templates to save time during the order entry process.
This trick will keep the customers think that you are a mind reader.

Convert Any Record Into A Template
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
You may be familiar with the template capabilities that are available within the Released Products, but that isn’t the only place that you can create templates. You can turn any record within Dynamics AX into a public or personal template that you can use to pre-populate fields saving you setup time, and also ensuring that all of the miscellaneous fields are configures just how you like them.
It’s like having your own cookie cutter creator.

If You Don’t Like The Way Your Data Looks The Rename It
Originally posted on :
If you are as OCD about tidy data as I am, then you probably hate data that does not quite match up with everything else in the database. Maybe it’s because you made a mistake in adding some data, or maybe you just want the data to look a little cleaner, we don’t judge. Luckily you don’t have to live with odd data within Dynamics AX, you can rename the records at any time and all of the related records will be renamed as well.
If it’s good enoug...

Declutter Customer Lists By Securing Them Through Address Books
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
Sometimes giving everyone access to every contact within the global address book is not necessary. Maybe you want to show people only contacts within their region, or legal entity, maybe you want to hide away inactive contacts from the default lists, or maybe you are just paranoid and don’t want to give people access to all the contacts in the system. Regardless of the reason, you can do this easily with a click of the switch within Dynamics AX...
