Configuring Accounts Receivable For Dynamics AX 2012 Now Available
After a couple of months of work and also being sidetracked by publishing out a couple of other books I have finally completed book #5 in the Bare Bones Configuration Guide series that lays the foundation for Configuring Accounts Receivable Within Dynamics AX 2012.
Here is a summary of the book
The Accounts Receivable area is one of the three foundation financial modules within Dynamics AX that you will want to set up. It not only allows you to manage all of your customer information, post your...

Quickly Update Data Through X++ Scripts
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
Normally I don’t promote to coding scripts within Dynamics AX because it is always perceived as something that a developer has to do. And for the power user, there are so many other ways to tinker with the system that getting your hands dirty with X++ is not necessary. One situation though that it’s sometimes just better to roll up your sleeves and write a little bit of X++ code is when it comes to updating masses of data. I’m not talking about...
German Edition of 50 Tips & Tricks Für Dynamics AX 2012 Available
The Tips & Tricks series has just made a major step this week and was translated into it’s first language other than English. Thanks to Kurt Mekelburg who did all of the hard work in the translation and also re-imaging all of the screen shots, all 50 of the first volume are now available in German.
If German is your native language then this is something that you must have, and here is the link to it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/150101188X/
Kurt and I will be working together to get more...

Importing Sales Order History Through the Data Import/Export Framework
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
When you implement Dynamics AX the last thing that you want to do is keep the old system around just so that you can access the historical information. One example of this is the sales history which is useful for reporting and trending, and also important when a customer calls up and asks about an order from a year ago. You may think that it is too much work to move all of that information over to your new system, but it’s not so. Using the Dat...

Relinking Default Order Settings After Product Import
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:

The Data Import Export Framework within Dynamics AX is great, but not completely infallible. When you import Released Products, you may find that the Default Order Settings are blank and there is no way to define a default site for Sales, Purchasing or Inventory. Don’t fret though there is a quick way that you can reconnect the wires through the Excel Add-In so that you can start getting back to work.
Even the HAL 9000 wasn’t perfect…

Dynamics AX Companions Books Available For Download As PDF’s Through The eBookshelf
I have received a number of requests from my followers to provide a PDF version of all the books because either they do no have access to the books on Kindle, or because it takes over 6 weeks for Amazon to deliver the books to some regions of the world. Not to be one that hinders the spreading of knowledge I have started the process of uploading all of the books as PDF’s for subscribers to access.
You can get your own access to the the PDF versions either by signing up for an eBook Subscriptio...

Enabling Lync Calling Directly From Contact Details
Originally posted on Dynamics AX Tip Of The Day:
Let’s start off with saying that Lync is great, and the integration that is built into Dynamics AX that allows you to IM and call other employees directly from their name rocks. If you have it connected through your phone system then it becomes awesome because you can make calls to other phones. The only thing that would make it perfect would be if you could click on a customer’s contact phone number within Dynamics AX and have it call the numb...

Introduction To Dynamics AX Now Available As Premium Content On Dynamics AX Companions
A while back I created an introduction guide to Dynamics AX that pretty much my overview demonstration for Dynamics AX in a book that gives you a grounding in the main usability features. This weekend I published the 3rd edition of this book, tidying up the formatting, increasing the font sizes etc.to make it more usable. (If you already have a copy of this book then don’t rush out to buy a new copy right now because the content is still the same).
As I was doing this I also broke it apart and...
