Review: Cambria Hebert’s Masquerade (Heven and Hell)

Masquerade by Cambria Hebert
I snagged Cambria Hebert’s Masquerade (Heven and Hell) during a promotional weekend. It’s another one of those books that had a synopsis I found intriguing so I one-clicked it on a whim. I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading it. I was instantly pulled into the story, and I found myself looking forward to reading it every night after my little one went down for bed.
In Masquerade, Heven (yes, spelled that way) is a teenage girl who used to be Miss Popular...

Review: Haven: A Stranger Magic
During a free promotion weekend, I picked up D.C. Akers novella Haven: A Stranger Magic. It’s been sitting on my Kindle for a while now, because I’ve been busy with my little one, but I originally downloaded it because the description in the Kindle Store made it sound really interesting.

Haven: A Stranger Magic Cover
Here’s the description from Amazon:
Sam Dalcome thinks he is so completely average that no one ever notices him. Until he discovers a mysterious stranger outside his home. Bewildere...

New Haircut and Flaming Amy’s
I’m not one to spend a lot of money to make myself look better. My wardrobe usually gets updated at Christmas when my family buys me clothes. I only purchase shoes when I need them, so I have about 5 pairs I actively wear throughout the year. I chose my purse according to how many pockets it had, not because if its designer or how well it matched an outfit. My makeup is usually just foundation and gloss. Only recently did I update it with a new compact from Mary Kay.
I’m really a t-shirt and j...

Castle Clash Fulfills My RPG Cravings

Castle Clash Load Screen
As a mother to an 8 month-old, I often find myself in situations where I can’t use my computer, but I need some kind of distraction to keep me busy, like when my little one falls asleep in my lap, and I don’t want to risk waking her up. So, I spend a lot of time on my phone. In addition to my usual parenting apps, I’ve tried multiple games, but so many seem to be regurgitations of the same worn-out ideas.
In college, I spent a lot of time playing Massive Multiplayer Onl...

Can You Be Happy for 100 Days?
The world has become increasingly fast paced. We do everything we can to fit as much as we can into as little time as possible. We carry devices that constantly demand our attention and are consistently looking toward our future “somedays”. It’s hard to slow down and enjoy life as it’s happening in the moment. When we can’t enjoy life, we can’t enjoy that feeling of success that comes with it, and what does that do to our mood? I don’t know about you, but I feel down and unsatisfied. So, I wa...

Honest Review: Sofia the First Songs from Enchancia
Sofia the First is one of the television shows on Disney Junior that will make my little girl stop mid-play. She loves the songs and Clover the rabbit. So, when I found out I’d won a copy of “Sofia the First Songs from Enchancia” from I Gotta Try That, I was super excited.

I love Sofia the First!
She has a CD player/clock radio in her bedroom where we usually play her Beethoven while she’s sleeping. So, I sat her down in the middle of her bedroom and popped it in. Here’s a picture of her right...

Honest Review: Beyond All Weapons Audio Drama

Beyond All Weapons by L. Ron Hubbard
Recently, Galaxy Press provided me with a free copy of their science fiction audio drama Beyond All Weapons by L. Ron Hubbard and asked me to give an honest review. I was happy to oblige, because it had been a while since I listened to an audio drama. When I was in high school and college, I enjoyed popping them into my CD player, and listening while I did schoolwork or crafts. Back then, my go-to was J.R. Tolkien or H.G. Wells (anyone remember the effect t...

The Best Words
What’s more important to a writer than words?
My daughter is now 31 weeks old. Last week, she started saying, “Mama”. Of course, I was a bit hesitant to believe it wasn’t just a coincidence, an attempt to develop her use of consonants and vowels. Then, I noticed she was saying it to get my attention when I was across the room. I’m pretty sure every parent hopes their child’s first word will be their name. I didn’t get to see her first time rolling over, so I was super happy to be her first wor...
