End of one journey on to the next, thank you NYC
Everything is energy, every thought you have, every word you speak, and energy cannot be destroyed, it can be altered or transformed but it cannot be destroyed. Our work is that we are not holding, harbouring hiding negative energy.Start getting honest about our thoughts, feelings, our beliefs and our behaviours Iyanla Vanzant
New York blew my mind! Honestly, the love and good vibes that I felt over these ten days was truly off the chain! I am so humbled and grateful for the experience. I met so many wonderful people, had so many aha moments and was just proven to again that the Universe really has my back!
Back to Trinidad, ok confessions on the journey, I like being alone, I like it! I mean like spending time alone in reflection, going to eat sometimes alone, just like my company and it sometimes pisses people off! Hey, I confess I sometimes people please, I am a recovering people pleaser, so I am home and being alone is tougher and I have to find a way to set some boundaries! ok that's my confession for the day LOL!
On to the next journey, stay tuned.....
Peace!!

The day after the day after!
So I ask you, my friend, are you willing to go there? Are you willing to sit in fire and sacrifice the comfort of your known world for the potential of something amazing, new and unknown? Don't you want to find out what's on the other side of your fear? Jackson Kiddard
Today is my last day in NYC, I have 2 events today a brunch with the Southern Connection who made me their person of the month because I was born in San Fernando Trinidad and a dance event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music that Medgar invited me to! I woke up this morning pretty early and went for a run and was just so full up of gratitude for these past days! Giving thanks since then!!
OK, Sisters Uptown Bookstore and Cultural Center book signing last Friday was an absolute dream come true! The space touched my soul, really really did! It was one of the best experiences that I had so far, the owner Ms Janifer Wilson was so gracious and full of wisdom I learnt so much from her last Friday night!
The bookstore is one of the last independent owned book stores in the USA and she is doing what she can to keep it a place of learning and sharing, nuff respect to her and her team!!
OK, I'm off to get ready to start my day!
Have a great one people

The Right Place at the Right Time
Your mindset—what you think about, repeat to yourself, and profess out loud—will become your reality. Lisa Nicols
At the Sugarcane Book signing, there I am minding my own business, doing my thing and one of the patrons asked if I would be willing to do a television interview on Wednesday! Well why not??? So that's just how it happened. Yesterday I had the privilege of doing an interview with Nellon Hunt of Nellon in New York, to be aired in Toronto, Trinidad and New York!
Love how the Universe lines things up!
Stay tuned
Peace!!

DAY 1 - Book Signing day 1!
I acknowledge the progress in my life and being, through the support and grace of God, my ancestors, elders, teachers, spiritual guides, sisters and brothers. Rev. Manazerine Olujimi Baptiste
So Day one of my book signing duties are over!
I had such an awesome day, woke up early and went for a run, the weather was perfect for a run! Got back and my aunt wanted to take me for breakfast! We went to a Trinidad restaurant and it was almost like I never left home, I kept remembering she lives in the US so she wanted a taste of the local food, she flew in to NYC on Saturday night to support me in the events!
We bought it to take away as suddenly we realised we were running late! OMG I can't be late for Medgar Evers College! So breakfast remained right on the table!
When I got to the College, about fifteen minutes before the start, there was no one in the room, they asked me to hold on for about ten minutes, then all of a sudden the place for full and overflowing there were no more seats, full house, my palms started sweating, I started getting super nervous!
The Dean of the School made remarks, there was a reading from the book and then I closed off the Programme! Questions and answer sessions were next!
Books flew off the table! I was still sweating
All was left now was to go get changed for the next event!
I arrived there and there were people actually waiting for the event to start- this time I was early!
What an awesome night, the place was full, people were digging the music and there was food and drinks! Then it was my turn to speak! I stood up and just spoke from the heart and that was it! I had so much fun!!
Will post pics soon!!
On to the next event!
Awesomeness all round
Peace!!
By the way, all the books sold out!!

NYC and More Lessons
As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worry
about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where EVERYTHING
is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.
I landed in NYC early in the morning, it's been a while since I was here! Always love the buzz and the vibe of the place, very multicultural but still familiar because of all the Trini's in Brooklyn
The journey to NYC was challenging, not the flight itself but the day leading up to it. I have always run from having hard conversations and I needed to have 2 before I left. I managed to have one and it was tough, just proud of me that I did it, anyways, will leave this story for another time, the point I am making is that I did it and didn't suppress the feelings, lessons I learnt earlier on the journey
So in NYC, preparing for the launch, excited about it, sold one book already (yayy) and just going with the flow. give thanks!

As I began to Love Myself
As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering
are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth.
Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody
As I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time
was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this
person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”.As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life,
and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow.
Today I call it “MATURITY”.As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance,
I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens
at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm.
Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”.As I began to love myself I quit steeling my own time,
and I stopped designing huge projects for the future.
Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do
and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in
my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”.As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for
my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew
me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude
a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since
I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worry
about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where EVERYTHING
is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me
and it can make me sick. But As I connected it to my heart, my
mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this
connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”.We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems
with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing
new worlds are born.Today I know THAT IS “LIFE”!Charlie Chaplin

Build it upon truth and justice
I fully realize that no wealth of position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice; therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealously, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude towards others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself. I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full faith that it will gradually influence my thoughts and actions so that I will become a self-reliant and successful person." - Napoleon Hill, from his best-selling and groundbreaking book Think and Grow Rich.
I'm back from Matura! Had an absolutely amazing and inspirational time over the past few days and here's the thing that stood out for me. Consistency, Dedication, Integrity and Purpose. These 3 people started an organisation out of love, they didn't even know they were starting an organisation, they just started and did something rather than just blabbed and talk and complain and moan. The turtles were being slaughtered, they were being killed for meat, for fun, for a laugh, for ignorance and they decided to do something about it. 20 years later they have an organisation that employs over 100 people in the community, they have multiple sources of income, they have the respect and admiration of the same people that were cussing them at the beginning and it wasn't easy and it still isn't easy but they are committed
How many times in my life have I complained, moaned , stopped what I am doing either because I was afraid, I was ignorant, I wanted to please people? How many times have I decided to not take a stand because it was "hard"? How many times have I spoken and not acted? I learnt over the weekend that slow and steady is the way to go! So confessions, I was a little intimidated doing this workshop, what can I possibly tell these people who have grown a community group into a successful world renowned business with multiple streams of income? that has been recognised all over the world, Japan, USA, China? And I went back to the lesson, show up as me every single time! We shared, we learnt from each other and it was awesome!
Now I start the work! I am so inspired to move forward with my purpose, my life's work
Thank you Matura!
Peace!!

Mutura look mih!
Real achievement comes from choosing to achieve, again and again, moment after moment, until the goal is attained. Real achievement comes from choosing to achieve, and then continually reaffirming that choice with action Ralph Marston
Heading to Matura this morning to facilitate a workshop, Matura is a rural area in Trinidad famous for the nesting of leather back turtles. It has become a model in terms of how a rural community can become sustainable using its natural resources. The Community has grown leaps over the years using what they have and is now one of the most successful both in terms of use of its natural resources and also staying true to its purpose and nature! I am looking forward to spending the weekend there and working with the team, mind you I will be taking in the turtles, the kayaking and the food! Ahhh work is play....
Have a great weekend peeps!
Peace
