...Sugar Daddy Review...

Shay Greer is pure GRITS—a Girl Raised In The South–but nowhere near a demure southern belle. She’s looking for a way out of her broken down marriage when she lands an unexpected job offer she really should refuse. Position? Mistress. Fringe Benefits? Of course. Fraternization with sexy CEO Reardon Boone? Required

Shay signs on, lured by the promise of intimacy missing from her failed marriage. She’s barely survived a hellish year of heartbreak and needs a fresh start. Little does she know a clean break is the last thing she’ll get with the mysterious millionaire.

Reardon sticks to his tried and true rules: no-strings-attached seduction, no messy emotions, absolutely nothing resembling a real relationship. This sassy, sultry woman fits the bill precisely…until she arouses more than his erotic appetite.

A shark in the boardroom and a lady killer in the bedroom, Reardon is as irresistible as he is unattainable. Shay falls hard, but his inability to love could tear them apart. She finds out that beneath Reardon’s seductive mask lies a man as tortured as she is.

My Review
Hot, hot, hot, I couldn't put this book down. Sugar Daddy is the steamiest book I've ever read, and it was so witty and well written, I didn't want to leave Reardon and Shay's story for even a second. Their chemistry burns white hot from the moment they meet, but this book is about so much more than steamy schmexy scenes. Family, friends, loss, triumph, fear, unconditional love - it has it all.
Shay and Reardon's relationship grows from nothing, that takes the characters by surprise as much as the reader. And oh mylanta, Warren's voice is hilarious. I fell in love with Shay and how she handles her life. Even the secondary characters made such a special place in my heart. And don't even get me started on that sexyman Reardon. Mr. Boone is possibly the sexiest man on the planet, and it's not just because of his looks. He is a hard man when he needs to be, a killer in the boardroom, completely in control of himself, but underneath is this fierce loyalty for his family and friends and sensitive side that only comes out around Shay. Oh I love them so much.
This is the first of Warren's books I've read, but I was taken with how funny Shay is. Equally hard is connecting with an author who writes funny and sentimental, and this book brought out every emotion from me. I laughed (a-freaking-lot and out loud) but a couple of scenes brought me to tears. I go into books with high expectations, and Warren didn't disappoint.
I didn't want it to end. I miss the cast of Sugar Daddy already. I need more of Warren's books!

5 lowcountry lovin' stars from me!

...Six Fun Facts about Garret Shaw...

Six Fun Facts about Garret Shaw, Reluctant Hero of An Unwilling Husband
Garret Shaw isn’t your typical romance hero. He’s good to his core, and honorable, but he isn’t very nice to our dear Maggie in the beginning. He’s been hurt too many times emotionally to let anyone past the walls he’s erected around his heart anymore, at the very least a smart mouthed high falutin’ proper lady who broke his fifteen year old heart years before. But through this story, Maggie has the perseverance and patience to wait for him grow into the man she knows he can be. And she’ll give all of herself to heal him.
Underneath Garret’s gruff exterior is a complex man who is unerringly loyal to the people he takes under his wing. For a peek under the surface, I’ll share some fun facts about our wary hero.
1.      Garret escaped his childhood home, and tyrant of a father, to finish his schooling in Georgetown studying law. If saving the Lazy S Ranch from ruin doesn’t work out, he’d consider assisting the sheriff in the one pony town of Rockdale, Texas where he lives.2.       He has a sensitive side. It’s well hidden, but it’s there. He fills Maggie’s washbasin with fresh water every night so she doesn’t have to haul it herself in the morning. His words are harsh for reasons he thinks are protecting both of them, but he does little sweet things he hopes she won’t notice to secretly make up for how boorish he has to be.3.      He wouldn’t admit it, but he likes Maggie’s tenaciousness. A mouse wouldn’t do our mouthy hero. He needs a woman who can hold her own and tell him exactly what he’s messing up and how to fix it.4.      Maggie’s peach pies are his favorite food on earth. Though they are inedible at first, she works on them so hard through the story, he loves the effort that has gone into each of them just as much as the flavor.5.      He’s created the family he never had with the hired hands he’s found to help him run the Lazy S Ranch.
6.      As a boy, he carved his name into a swinging tree near Maggie’s childhood home so she’d always remember him.

...Magical May Blog Hop...

Happy May, everyone, and have I got a treaty for you! Lyrical Press, An Imprint of Kensington Publishing Corp, released five books this month, and in celebration, all five books will be offered in a prize bundle to a lucky winner on this hop!

I'm Tera, author of the newly released historic western romance, An Unwilling Husband, and I'm ecstatic to share Maggie and Garret's story with you. And oh, it isn't an easy one, but what great love stories are?

For adventurous Margaret Flemming, arrived from Boston to be with her father, the Old West town of her childhood is a far cry from the drawing rooms and balls of the high society life she’s used to. Her fancy gowns and proper manners have no place in the dusty, cruel land inhabited by Indians and rough cowboys. And her fiercely independent streak constantly gets her in trouble. When tragedy strikes, there’s only one person she can turn to--her childhood friend, Garret Shaw--but he’s disgusted with her Society ways.

With his ranch under attack from the land-grabbing Jennings, the last thing Garret needs is to be saddled with a high-falutin’ lady. Even if she is his friend’s daughter and her kind ways tug at his hardened heart. Duty to her father forces them to wed, but he knows sure as anything, when the chance comes along, she’ll go back to Boston. No matter how much he wants her, loving her is not a risk he can take.

Will Maggie choose a life of luxury and ease over struggle and hardship with an ill-mannered cowboy? Only her heart can answer.

Excerpt

Garret was an intoxicating man, like the first sip of fine whiskey, and it left Maggie dizzy to be this near him.“I remember you had this ridiculous fiery red hair when we were kids.” He gently lifted a long strand of her wavy hair, now dark as a redwood. A look of tenderness flickered across his face before it was replaced with one of disdain. Her breath caught at his touch. Even angry he was beautiful. Like an avenging angel.Garret dropped her hair then rounded on the open luggage in two long strides and picked up the gaudy cream silk dress she had worn from the train station. “This one will do.” In his work-roughened hands, the shimmering material looked fragile, ridiculous. “It will remind me of exactly what I’m getting myself into.”As he tossed the dress in a billowing heap onto the bed and headed for the door, she put voice to her confusion. “Garret, I don’t understand what you are talking about most of the time, but today you have been speaking to me in puzzles. Why would I wear this dress for you?”He wheeled and faced her. “Because I aim to marry you.”

My Review
***4.5 stars***

Ever Mine is a great escape from reality. Star-crossed lovers indeed, Nathan and Katenia are from two completely different worlds. A quick, fun, and lighthearted read, Ever Mine is a fairy tale you won’t want to miss. Beautiful, kind, vulnerable and determined, Katenia is the perfect match for alpha male and moody human, Nathan. He’s been burned by love before, (and his ex is fierce!) and it takes a special kind of woman to get him to feel again. And who would’ve thought fairy tales could be sexy?!

“But Nathan didn’t just take. What he gave to her was so much more than what he demanded…”

I adored how confused Katenia was by the human world, and seeing it through her eyes, yes, there are some strange goings on around here. The misunderstandings between the characters were adorable and downright enjoyable, and Nathan, even as brutish as he was, was so patient with her as she tried to assimilate. The entire story, I couldn’t see how they could possibly work out with all the odds stacked against them but I wanted their HEA sooo badly. This novella had enough suspense to keep me hooked and I finished it on one sitting. Great quick read with 4.5 fairy smoochin’ stars from me.

*I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

...The Temptation of Laura...

I'm ecstatic to have Rachel Brimble visiting today and am looking so forward to reading her Victorian Romances! I adore the genre and her books have been receiving awesome reviews. Plus, the covers for this series are gorgeous! Without further ado, welcome, welcome Rachel. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the series?
Right now, I am polishing book three of my Victorian romance series with eKensington. Once I send this one to my editor (hopefully this week!), I am contracted for one more, and pray the contract will be renewed. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but there is something I just love about writing books that are linked. My books are connected by the setting (in and around Bath, England) and with each new book, I take a secondary character from the previous book as the next hero or heroine.
As a reader, series books give me a deeper insight and satisfaction into the characters than stand-alone books – but of course, I am a total bibliophile so I read any and every book going, lol!
My latest release and book two of the series, THE TEMPTATION OF LAURA, was both a joy and a challenge to write. This is the book that I have spent equally as much time researching as writing than any other. Strongly inspired by the life of the infamous Nell Gwynn, prostitute turned actress turned King’s mistress, the book most definitely has a darker tone that a lot of the Victorian romance novels out there.
This was intentional and I am so glad I went with my instinct to write from the heart.
Set against the backdrop of Bath’s Theatre Royal and the poverty-ridden streets of late 19th century Bath, THE TEMPTATION OF LAURA is a novel of struggling against the odds, of striving for a bigger and better life than my characters could have dreamed of…it is a book about true love, whatever the cost.
I sincerely hope your readers and visitors love Laura as much as me!

...Climbing Out of Hell...

When we last left Trent Lancaster, he had blown up his life with Carrie in a spectacular fashion, leaving her no choice but to give up on him. He wasn’t just bad or a jerk. He was the tsunami poster child for the most damaging and explosive breakup ever.

But why did it happen?

People don’t normally wake up one morning and say, “Today, I will destroy everything good in my life for no reason whatsoever.”
Yes, Trent had always been difficult and temperamental. All too often, he regressed into a spoiled, three-year-old child. But he’d never been close to as horrible as he was the day of their breakup. So what happened to turn him into Frankenstein?
I present a scene (available only here, It’s not in any of the books) Turns out Trent’s troubles began months before, while Carrie was on the West Coast being training as a Change Specialist. Coco attached herself to Trent’s side and insisted he send his servants away for the night and she would cook him dinner. The meal was over salted, which made Trent drink more than he should have. He thought he had sent her off before he stumbled to bed, but in the morning he woke up with a splitting head and Coco in his bed.
He is certain she drugged him, and doubts, given his repulsion to her, that any part of him could have risen to the occasion. Yet a month and a half later, he gets called into Theo DeCannon’s office. (That’s Coco’s father. He’s a scary dude with connections to the mafia).
He slams down a paternity document. “You &#@$#$, you got my daughter pregnant!”
Trent insists it's not possible.
DeCannon throws the paper at him, then has his goons lift him from his chair so he can slam his fist into Trent’s stomach. “You have two choices.”
If his choices are marrying Coco or dying, Trent intends to opt for the later.
“Either marry my daughter or I’ll go after Carrie Hanson. And I won’t stop attacking her reputation, her career, and her life until she commits suicide. Or, you can have nothing further to do with her, and marry my daughter. Which is it going to be?”
If Trent had any shot of grabbing Carrie and going into hiding in another country, he’d do it, but DeCannon has connections everywhere. There is no place he and Carrie can safely hide. Even if they get new faces, their extreme height differences would make them uniquely identifiable if they remained together.
He had no option but to go along with DeCannon’s demand, at least until he could convince Coco she didn’t want to marry him. He had driven her off once before. If he behaved bad enough she’d call the wedding off this time as well.
And that is why Trent self-destructed in book 3, and while Coco never broke the engagement, all his attempts certainly broke Carrie’s heart and she finally gave up on him.

Leaving poor Trent on the sidewalk with no reason to live.
And this is where book four begins. A priest rescues Trent off the sidewalk and takes him to St. Patrick's Cathedral.
After listening to the longest list of sins the priest has ever heard in a single setting, he encouraged Trent to give away his corruptive wealth and start anew, emulating St. Francis of Assisi.
Naturally, without Carrie there to clarify, Trent misunderstood and thought he was to wear pink gowns and prance about like 'a sissy' while doing good deeds. Why he needed to be a sissy, he had no clue. But he was a desperate man. He'd do whatever it took to become a better man.

Climbing Out of Hell Book 4 of the seriesA Long Road to LoveRomantic ComedyTrent is in hell. How he got here, befuddles him. One moment he and Carrie are in love and life was nearly perfect. The next, he’s forced by Coco’s father to destroy his relationship with Carrie and marry Coco. Only he’d rather die than marry that she-devil. So he does just that, die.  But first he gives all his money away, to ensure it won’t go to Coco.Upon faking his suicide, he gets a new face and identity, then follows his half-brother to Iowa where Sam has become the sheriff of a small town. Without the past standing between them, the two quickly become best of friends. Unfortunately, they still have the same tastes in women, and Trent falls in love with Sam’s girl. Will Trent give in and take what he wants, or will he remain a man of integrity and lose his last chance for love?

Excerpt
“Stop it! Get off of me!” Carrie screamed.
Trent couldn’t lose the only woman who had ever loved him. He covered her protest with his mouth, certain if they made love, everything would right itself.
As he fumbled with the zipper of her pants, the limo jerked to the right and came to a halt. Seconds later, the back door opened and someone yanked him from the limo and slung him to the sidewalk. He stared up at his half-brother storming around the car, returning to the driver’s seat.
The tires screamed as the car pulled out in traffic. Once the vehicle disappeared from sight, Trent focused on himself. His right knee seared with pain and his head hurt on the side that had slamed onto the concrete. He sat up, so people would stop walking over him. New York City pedestrians were like marching ants. They stopped for nothing.
He stared at the four lanes of bumper to bumper honking traffic.Carrie and his limo were gone.
Along with everything good in his world.
For one glorious month, life had been perfection. Well, he’d thought the first week was hell, but compared to his life now, it had been Nirvana.
He’d lost Carrie forever, broken a love he’d thought impervious to damage. Due to a stupid error he’d made months before, a cascade of problems had rained upon him, which he tried his hardest to protect Carrie from, except he couldn’t.
Tears streamed down his cheeks for all to see. Normally, he’d be horrified to allow common people to gawk at him, but his self-respect and pride had been stripped away when Sam had to pull him from his limo to save Carrie.
From him.
He’d almost raped her—the only woman he had ever loved. He’d thought if they made love, she’d forgive him. But he’d managed to break the unbreakable and she wanted nothing more to do with him.
He buried his face in his hands and sobbed, knowing there was no way back to his month of happiness. Everything good in his life was gone.
A gentle hand touched his shoulder. His heart leapt in joy. Carrie had returned and forgiven him. He stared up at an old man in black—a priest—studying him with concern. “Are you ill? Do you need help?”
He opened his mouth, intending to declare himself beyond help, but stopped. Maybe the man could be of assistance. “I think I need an exorcism.”

...Spring Fling Blog Hop...

Welcome to the Spring Fling Blog Hop! Over fifty authors and bloggers have joined together to bring you some amazing posts, great giveaways and lots of fun! Don't forget to enter the rafflecopter to win a Kindle tablet, gift cards, paperbacks and swag and be sure to check out the other blogs taking part.

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. The chicks and ducklings are for sale in the nearest feed store. I live in horse country, so the babies are bucking around their corrals while harried mothers munch lush green grass nearby. The trees and flowers are in bloom and you don't have to look very far for a lucky ladybug. And the weather? Oh, after months of miserable cold, it's nice enough to finally have picnics again.

The setting for An Unwilling Husband is a late Texas springtime in Wild West cattle country. The time of year definitely influences Maggie's homecoming. The grass is green and the breeze warm. IT would be a different story altogether if it was set during a Texas winter. She comes back to Rockdale to reunite with her father after ten years of being raised a lady in Boston. And who happens to be in town for her arrival? Her childhood crush, Garret Shaw. Except he isn't the sweet boy she remembers, but a hardened man determined not to let her affect his heart.

A tall, mysterious stranger, Greyson Crawford, risks his life to try and save her sister from the vicious wolf attacking their camp, but when he’s bitten and disappears into the night, Morgan can only assume the worst.

Grey is determined not to let the darkness of his new life affect the girl he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about. He should stay away and let her live a normal life. That’s easier said than done, though. A new danger pulls him from the shadows to keep her safe, and he’s no wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Can she accept what lurks just below his surface? More importantly, can she survive him?
