...Family Dynamics, Romance and Mystery by Mae Clair...
Eeeeek! I have Mae Claire visiting today to talk about her new book. I adore Mae and her work, and absolutely love when she visits. Welcome, Mae :)
Thank you, Tera, for allowing me to take over your blog today! I’m delighted to be here and share my newest release, ECLIPSE LAKE.
I’ve always enjoyed writing books that play heavily on character relationships. That’s particularly true when it comes to family dynamics. In all the books I’ve written you’ll find a strong emphasis on a particular family tie, severed by conflict, eventually restored. I like putting my characters through the wringer, tearing them apart, then paving the way for reconciliation.
Two items that blend well with that storyline are romance and mystery. In my latest, release, ECLIPSE LAKE, I introduce my readers to two brothers, Jonah and Dane, who have been estranged for fifteen years, living on separate coasts. That’s suited both of them fine until the younger brother, Dane, attempts to fulfill a vow made to his late wife. For the sake of his adopted son, he decides it’s time to make peace with Jonah.
But returning to his hometown—a sleepy community tucked on the banks of a resort lake—places him dead center in an unsolved missing person’s case.
Ellie Sullivan, a photojournalist on assignment in Eclipse Lake, finds herself falling for Dane despite the secrets he harbors. Why does he avoid talking about his past and what he does for a living? How is he involved in the disappearance of a local girl who went missing fifteen years before? Why does his brother treat him so coldly, and the town sheriff react with hostility at the mere sight of him?
At its heart, ECLIPSE LAKE is a mystery and a romance, but it’s also a book about healing and forgiveness. About family ties, overcoming obstacles, and believing in the better good. I’m delighted to share it today.
BLURB:Small towns hold the darkest secrets.
Fifteen years after leaving his criminal past and estranged brother behind, widower Dane Carlisle returns to his hometown on the banks of sleepy Eclipse Lake. Now, a successful businessman, he has kept his troubled past a secret from most everyone, including his seventeen-year-old son. But memories in small towns are bitter and long.Ellie Sullivan, a nature photographer for a national magazine, has a habit of ping-ponging across the map. Her latest assignment leads her to Eclipse Lake where she becomes caught up in the enmity between Dane, his brother Jonah, and a vengeful town sheriff. When freshly-discovered skeletal remains are linked to an unsolved murder and Dane’s past, Ellie is left questioning her growing attraction for a man who harbors long-buried secrets.

...Review of The Dragon's Heart by Eden Ashe...
After millennia as king of the dragon-shifters, Daniel Ashborne wants a little peace and quiet, especially from the beautiful Hollywood starlet who haunts his memories. His escape tactics end abruptly when he is called to the ER to save the one woman he wants to forget, but who now bears his mark.Shelby Kincade’s life and movie career were nearly destroyed when Daniel vanished a year ago. Now he’s back, claiming they have been accidentally mated. Getting over him once was hard enough, but she must choose either the life of her dreams or the man she can’t live without.
With peace finally on the horizon between the dragon-shifters and the Hunters, an assassination attempt on the dragon king and his mate shatters everything. Tensions rebuild as Daniel and his loyal team of shifters try to discover who put out the hit. Enemy and ally lines are crossed, but in the end–after the battle ash has settled–no one could have foreseen who has plotted for their own gain.

My Review
Let it be known that I'm a sucker for shifter romance. I love it all, but never had I thought about dragon shifters. Yep, i just uttered that. Dragon. Shifters. Sexymen who change into dragons. Big, scaley, fire-breathing, treasure hoarding, cave dwelling alpha dragons. And king of them all is Daniel Ashborne. Can I just pick apart his sexy last name first off? He's been waging dragon wars for thousands of years, so I feel like we can rearrange his surname in the old ways. Ashborne. Born of Ash. I love this.
What does a dragon shifter king look like who has been fighting since ancient history? He looks like a tall, sexy, scarred up, heart hardened, bull-headed man with no room in his life for love. Until Shelby. Daniel takes the words alpha male to a new level in this book. I mean, his smoldering looks are basically jumping off the page. And if Shelby is conscious, she's pissing him off in a way both funny and alluring. Anyone can see he's pushing her away because he's over the moon and around the mountains in love with her. And Shelby is no pushover. Despite misunderstandings in droves, she knows he's important to the path of her life, and she sticks with him, no matter how much he shuts down. And the reward for her standing by her man is huge.
Action, adventure, fighting, mayhem, betrayal, hot sex and sexy dragons by the dozen, and I'm seriously hoping this isn't the last book of Ashe's dragon shifters. 5 stars from me!

...Sneak Peek Sunday...
Hello, hello! It's Sneak Peek Sunday, where authors share 6 paragraphs of something they are working on with you. Today, in honor of my upcoming release, I'm sharing a snippet from Silver Wolf Clan, the first book in a series of shifter romances.
Morgan and Grey lost each other a year ago in the woods where she was attacked. She only had that few, blinding moments to spend with him, but for both of them, that wolf attack was life changing. Grey's been staying away from her, and for a dangerous reason. This scene is a sneak peek of the first time they find each other again.

He plucked the keys from the puddle and opened the door to her truck without a word. She had to see his eyes. For her continued existence, she needed to know without a shadow of a doubt it was him, alive and well and not just some sick figment she’d created to ease her guilt. That she wasn’t just imagining him. “Please look at me.”“Best if I don’t,” he murmured in a voice rich and deep, like velvet. His nostrils flared slightly. “You’re bleeding.”“I’m okay, please—”“Get in!” he yelled. “Can’t you see I need you to get in?” His voice tapered into a low, rumbling noise that sent a chill up her spine.Fear an overwhelming motivator, she scrambled into the cab of her truck. Her heart galloped like a runaway horse and he jerked his head to the side.
“I’m sorry,” he murmured before he slammed the door. And then into the shadowed parking lot, he disappeared like he’d never existed at all.
***************
Hope you enjoyed this exclusive sneak peek! Silver Wolf Clan releases August 4 through Lyrical/Kensington
Loving him will be legendary...if she can survive it.What happens when monsters turn out to be real? One summer night while camping in the woods, Morgan Carter finds out in a big way. A tall mysterious stranger, Greyson Crawford, risks his life to try and save her sister from the vicious wolf attacking their camp. When he’s bitten and disappears into the night, Morgan can only assume the worst.
Greyson shows up a year later, and he’s a different animal altogether. His eye color shifts constantly and the rumble in his throat sounds more animal than human. She hasn’t any idea where he’s been all this time, but a good guess as to what he’s become.
Grey is determined not to let the darkness of his new existence affect Morgan and the little girl in her care. He hasn’t been able to stop thinking about Morgan but knows he should stay away and let her live a normal life. That’s easier said than done, though. A new danger pulls him from the shadows to keep her safe, and he’s no wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Can she accept what lurks just below his surface? More importantly, can she survive him?

Exciting stuff going on behind the scenes around here!
1. I have the officially official ARC of Silver Wolf Clan and dayum she looks gorgeous all loaded up into my kindle. I'm still peeing my pantyloons over the cover, but seeing the finished product with the book matter and formatting? There is something so satisfying about seeing all of your hard work come together.

...Music That Inspired Fatal...
If you’re a lover of music, raise your hand. Hmm, yes. I see a lot of hands. An ocean of hands. From here, it kind of looks like a swarm of zombies desperately reaching to snatch a morsel of flesh—What? Oh, um, sorry. I got distracted.
OF COURSE you love music. Who doesn’t? It’s like asking someone if they like oxygen. Now, we might have different tastes in music. Sure, but I triple dare you to find someone who doesn't like some form of music. It’s the same for oxygen. Some people like theirs mixed with smoke or copious amounts of cologne. I prefer mine NOT diluted with those items. But bringing it back around… today, I wanted to share with you some of the music that I used for inspiration while writing FATAL!
I’m a super really-really major music junkie. I mean, like, you don’t even know. It’s bad. I majored in it in college, bad. Except, in this case, bad actually means good. So, when it comes to my writing, it’s pretty safe to say, I CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT SONGZ!
It might be different for other authors but for me, music does a few different things: 1. It gets me in a creative mood. Makes me want to get lost in imaginary worlds of my own making. 2. It helps me feel connected to my characters. I listen to their favorite song and I can feel what they feel, think how they think, see how they see. 3. It breaks through writer’s block like freaking Hulk armed with a sledge hammer, yo. Or like, Thor. So far, it’s been fail-proof. If I’m stuck, I turn on a new track. Something unexpected or random. And viola, new words sprout forth from my fingers, into the keyboard, landing on the neon screen in front of me.
Yes, music is THAT powerful. That’s why you cried through Les Miserable. What, you didn’t?! *shaking my head in disdain* You. You have no heart and there’s no hope for you, that’s why. Maybe you’re a zombie. I’m serious.
Below is a list of songs that found their way onto my FATAL soundtrack and some reasons why. You’ll notice the list is rather eclectic. That’s because of a couple reasons: one, I like so many different types of music. I REALLY have a hard time coming up with a genre I DON’T like. And two, because Fatal has such a diverse cast of characters and I needed songs that represented them.Alright then, here we go!
Cold Shoulder by AdeleKey line: “You shower me with words made of knives.”My thoughts: I picture this song playing as Cori walks the halls her first day of school.Dead Man Walking by The ScriptKey line: “I’m a breathing, talking dead man, walking.”My thoughts: This is one of Grayson’s (our zombie with a heart of gold) songs. For those of you who’ve read the book, this song fits perfectly in a particularly hopeless scene where Grayson is drowning his troubles in the river.Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster CultKey line: The whole dang song.My thoughts: This was for a scene where Grayson and Cori face off with a rotter. It also helped me fill in a lot of backstory for Grayson’s zombie family, which will come into play in later books. Here I go again By WhitesnakeKey line: “Hanging on the promises in songs of yesterday”My thoughts: Ah, a classic. This means I was writing about Leiv. As you will see in the first chapter, Leiv is a morning person (Blehhhhh) who likes to blast classic rock at the break of dawn, the same way a rooster would crow. Not Alone by RedKey line: This song… oh, my heart. There are too many great lines. You really should listen to it RIGHT NOW. But here are a few… “Slowly fading away. You’re lost and so afraid. Where is the hope, in a world so cold.” “Your heart is full of broken dreams, just a fading memory. And everything’s gone, but the pain carries on.”My thoughts: Those who’ve read the book might have guessed that this is Cori’s song. I think it represents the loss of her dad and her mourning perfectly.Never Surrender by SkilletKey line: “Do you know what it’s like when you’re scared to see yourself? Do you know what it’s like to wish you were someone else? Do you know what it’s like to wanna surrender? I don’t wanna feel like this tomorrow. I don’t want to live like this today. Make me feel better, I need to feel better.”My thoughts: This is Grayson’s angsty song. Falling Inside the Black by SkilletKey line: “Falling in the black, slipping through the cracks, falling to the depths. Can I ever come back? Dreaming of the way it used to be. Can you hear me?”My thoughts: This song represents the death and rising that zombies experience.Sometimes by Skillet(Are you noticing a trend here? I love my Skillet. Like, really, really.)Key line: “Sometimes I don’t wanna be better. Sometimes I can’t be put back together.”My thoughts: For when Grayson has a bad attitude. Which happens a lot in the beginning.Making Me New by Royal TailorKey lines: “I’ve got a feeling that I can’t explain, like I’m crawling out of my skin. I was dead ‘til the moment that you said my name. Now my heart is beating again.”My thoughts: Ah, the power of love. It raises the dead. But not in the way you’re thinking ;)Afterlife by Arcade FireKey line: “Afterlife, I think I saw what happens next. It was just a glimpse of you. Like looking through a window or a shallow sea.”My thoughts: This one was for Peg. And that’s all I can say about that.Party in the U.S.A. by Miley CyrusKey line: none.My thoughts: This song was especially for pretend party-boy, Aiken. The little flirt.
There you go, my FATAL soundtrack! You should probably know, there were a ton of other songs that got me through the book but if I listed them all, well… this day only consists of 24 hours, so.
Thanks for listening!!! (Now go download that Red song and have some feels:))

First love can be brutal. Sometimes it can be Fatal.
Grayson Patch hasn’t been human since he was seventeen years old… and that was nineteen years ago. When he rose from the dead, he had no memory of his former life. Grayson desperately wants to recapture his lost humanity. And he’s been told that there is one person in this world who can save him from his current fate before he begins to decompose. One person, whose life must be sacrificed for his.
Cori Abbott has a million things to worry about. She’s the new girl in a school that’s a fraction the size of her old one. Her antisocial tendencies are crippling her ability to make new friends. And then there’s the recent, sudden death of her father, the only man who ever understood her. The last thing Cori wants is the attention of a strange, withdrawn, and consistently angry guy who seems to hate her for no apparent reason. A guy she can’t stop thinking about.
Will Cori break through Grayson’s cold exterior and find the human within, the boy who can love and understand her like no other? Will Grayson sacrifice Cori to rid himself of his undead curse, even if it means losing her forever?

...Ever Mine...
I love this book and have been thinking about it all week! It's a short, sweet, and oh-so-fun read, and the first in a series of novellas from one of my favorite up and coming authors. Eden Ashe is a romance writer to watch.
Can a kidnapped fairy and a human find love despite all odds?
Nathan Alexander’s batty aunt has done it again. This time she’s sent him a rare plant he doesn’t want. Imagine his surprise when he finds a kidnapped fairy hidden within its leaves. As a man who heads a non-profit organization for abused women and children, Nathan makes it his mission to help her find her way home.
All her life Katenia was warned about the evilness of humans. Never was that proved more true than when she was kidnapped from her quiet valley home. Thrust into the human world, Katenia must fight her very instincts to trust Nathan if she ever hopes to return to her rightful place…and to her normal thumb-sized fairy form.
But with their lives in danger, finding home…and love…will be a journey worthy of a fairy tale.
Amazon B&N
Length: 105 pages
Publisher: Lyrical Press-An Imprint of Kensington Publishing Corp.
Author: Eden Ashe
Genre: Fantasy Romance
My Review
***4.5 stars***
Ever Mine is a great escape from reality. Star-crossed lovers indeed, Nathan and Katenia are from two completely different worlds. A quick, fun, and lighthearted read, Ever Mine is a fairy tale you won’t want to miss. Beautiful, kind, vulnerable and determined, Katenia is the perfect match for alpha male and moody human, Nathan. He’s been burned by love before, (and his ex is fierce!) and it takes a special kind of woman to get him to feel again. And who would’ve thought fairy tales could be sexy?!
“But Nathan didn’t just take. What he gave to her was so much more than what he demanded…”
I adored how confused Katenia was by the human world, and seeing it through her eyes, yes, there are some strange goings on around here. The misunderstandings between the characters were adorable and downright enjoyable, and Nathan, even as brutish as he was, was so patient with her as she tried to assimilate. The entire story, I couldn’t see how they could possibly work out with all the odds stacked against them but I wanted their HEA sooo badly. This novella had enough suspense to keep me hooked and I finished it on one sitting. Great quick read with 4.5 fairy smoochin’ stars from me.
*I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

...Share the Moon Cover Reveal...
New Cover from Lyrical Press/Kensington Publishing Corp. Author, Sharon Struth, is sharing her cover and blurb for upcoming release, Share the Moon.
Sometimes trust is the toughest lesson to learn.
Sophie Shaw is days away from signing a contract that will fulfill her dream of owning a vineyard. For her, it’s a chance to restart her life and put past tragedies to rest. But Duncan Jamieson’s counter offer blows hers out to sea.
Duncan still finds Sophie as appealing as he had during boyhood vacations to the lake. Older and wiser now, he has his own reasons for wanting the land. His offer, however, hinges on a zoning change approval.
Bribery rumors threaten the deal and make Sophie wary of Duncan, yet she cannot deny his appeal. When her journalistic research uncovers a Jamieson family secret, trust becomes the hardest lesson for them both.

...Sweet Bea Cover Reveal...
I'm delighted to have Sarah Hegger here today with the cover reveal of her upcoming release, Sweet Bea.
Is anything sweeter than revenge?
In a family of remarkable people, ordinary Beatrice strives to prove herself worthy. When her family is threatened with losing everything, she rushes to London to save them. Unfortunately, she chooses as her savior the very man who will see her family brought low.
Garrett has sworn vengeance on Sir Arthur of Anglesea for destroying his life when he was a boy and forcing his mother into prostitution for them to survive. He has chosen as his instrument Sir Arthur's youngest daughter, Beatrice.
Can Beatrice’s goodness teach Garrett that love, not vengeance, is the greatest reward of all?
Born British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.
Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.
She currently lives in Draper, Utah, with her teenage daughters, two Golden Retrievers and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books. I love to hear from readers and you can find me at any of the places below.

...Sea Monsters and Romance - Solstice Island by Mae Clair...
Sea Monsters and Romance: Solstice Island by Mae Clair is $.99
Thanks for allowing me to share my latest release on your blog, Tera. SOLSTICE ISLAND is a romantic adventure novella centered on the quest for a legendary sea creature. I’ve had a love affair with mythical creatures since I was a kid. As an adult, that passion spread to include “cryptids” . . . usually considered “monsters” in our modern world.
Cryptids are creatures that may exist but have not been proven to exist. There is even a pseudo-branch of science devoted to their study, known as cryptozoology. Two famous examples of cryptids are the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot.
Can you imagine going on a cryptid hunt with a sexy charter boat captain?
In SOLSTICE ISLAND, my heroine is an amateur cryptozoologist who is searching for a mythical beast known as the Sea Goliath. Her quest takes her to Solstice Island and charter boat captain, Daniel Decatur. At this point I’ll let the blurb speak for itself:
SOLSTICE ISLAND BLURB:
Can an ancient leviathan work magic between a practical man and an idealistic woman?Rylie Carswell is an amateur cryptozoologist in search of a mythical creature, the Sea Goliath. In order to reach Solstice Island, a location the ancient leviathan is rumored to haunt, she’s forced to hire charter boat captain, Daniel Decatur.Initially, Daniel wants nothing to do with the trip or the fool woman waving double payment in his face. Convinced she’s yet another loony treasure hunter looking for gold on the remote island, he reluctantly agrees. An embittered neighbor wants to have his charter license yanked, so the extra cash will help him stay afloat. It doesn’t take long for Daniel to realize Rylie is after the same beast his parents were tracking when they mysteriously vanished ten years earlier. He’s avoided all links to cryptozoology ever since, but the smart and sexy cryptid hunter has him second-guessing his oath and wondering what he’s signed on for.Warning: A family legacy, glowing plankton and rough waters.SOLSTICE ISLAND is available for purchase exclusively through Amazon.
