Brrr! It’s cold!

Hello!

How is everyone today? I’m cold – it’s a whopping 21 degrees in north Atlanta with a real feel of 10! It’s too cold to adult today, that’s for sure.

I’m so excited about my upcoming release, January Dreams. Only 10 days left to pre-order at the special $0.99 price! I’ve started writing the sequel and I hope to have it out to you as soon as I can. I’m also getting married in April, so it’ll be busy!

On a serious note, I am saddened by the deaths of David Bowie, Alan Rickman, and Glenn Frey. I loved each one of them and their talent was incredible. They will be missed.

When I was in 7th grade, I borrowed all of my mom’s Eagles cassette tapes and wore them out. Of course, Glenn Frey was one of my favorite Eagles, as he was the founding member. He inspired me to write poetry and helped me annoy the crap out of my friends because I was ALWAYS singing an Eagles song.

I will never forget watching Alan Rickman in Die Hard and thinking, ‘wow, he’s such a bad guy!’ Then I saw him in Robin Hood and I hated his character! He played the part perfectly and I loved it. And when I saw him portray Colonel Brandon in my favorite adaptations of my favorite Jane Austen novel, I was blown away. And of course as Severus Snape. Rickman embodied these personalities like he was really them. He made them come alive like no one else could. Of course, I loved every movie he was in and I loved his acting.

As for David Bowie…what an incredible career and to stand out from everyone else and be your own self. You always did your own thing and had impeccable talent.

All of your talent, music, movies, words, will live on. Rest in peace.

Supermoon!

We’re supposed to have another supermoon/eclipse September 27-28. I’m so excited because my fiance and I purchased a telescope recently. Can’t wait to check it out! We did get to see the moon through the telescope one night. It was amazing. (Yes, I love astronomy). Seeing the craters through the lens is truly fascinating. You never realize just how fast the earth is moving until you look at the moon through a lens.

If anyone reads my books, they’ll pick up on the astronomical themes throughout. Especially my Elemental Enchanters Series. I’m not sure what lured me into astronomy. I guess I’ve always been fascinated with the stars, moon, and galaxies. When you think about it, we are just a tiny speck in our galaxy. But there are other galaxies. It’s mind blowing.

Under a Blood Moon features (duh) a blood moon, but this one isn’t an eclipse. It’s actually the second full moon in October, which is always red. (The one in September is red too, but it’s usually referred to as a harvest moon). In case you all wanted to know.

If you see the supermoon, let me know!

Lightning Crashes

No…lightning isn’t crashing, although it is rainy. And cold. I guess that’s the norm for Atlanta in the fall. Woohoo! It’s fall now!

I’ve been working on two stories right now. One I’ve decided to bring out of the vault and I also made the decision to keep this book in the 90s time period. Grunge, flannel, Doc Martens, here we come! What was your favorite part of the 90s? I loved the music. I came to know Tori Amos, Better Than Ezra, Jimmy Eat World (late 90s but still). I also wrote my first novel in the 90s when I was 15. I wrote mostly poems and short stories then, but this novel came out of nowhere. Struck me like lightning. (har-har)

I always liked this story, even though I took a left turn for the ending. I had read a lot of R.L. Stine books and the like so it was natural to go that route. Although, it doesn’t fit the book at all. Needless to say, as I work my way through a clean, fresh rewrite, it will have a completely different ending.

The other story is the sequel to January Dreams, which I’m excited to share with you all. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Puppies and Rainbows

Hello!

I bet you’re excited to see a post from me. You’re probably staring at it like ‘is this real?’ Yes. Yes it is. I decided to take a small break from writing so I could write to you! I’ve been working on my new upcoming novel, January Dreams. It is set to be released in January 2016. I will be having a cover reveal, so if any of you bloggers out there are interested, or if you know of any bloggers who would like to share the cover reveal, here’s the form to fill out if you want it featured on your blog. I can’t wait to show you all the beautiful cover to this! I’m so excited for this story. I wrote it in 2011 as a NaNoWriMo project. At the time, I was working on Under a Blood Moon, but this voice in my head was very insistent. She refused to leave until I wrote her story. While writing it, I loved everything about it. It was unlike anything else I had written, and each time I read it, I fall in love with the characters. I hope you will like it too.

In other news, I’ve started watching season 6 of The Vampire Diaries, and I love it. I don’t know what my deal is, but when I start watching this show again, I tend to crack out on it and then start obsessing over it again. Yes, I’m aware that I have issues. My fiance may roll his eyes, but he never makes fun of me for watching my teen shows. :) He’s a keeper. I’ve also started reading the book series. I’ve never read them, and I don’t know why I didn’t read them when they were first published. I love this kind of stuff. I was a huge R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike fan back in the day. I was a huge horror fan and still am. One of the best horror books I’ve ever read was Let the Right One In. Great book. I recommend it if you’ve not read it. I also loved Peter Straub. Oh and if you read The Amityville Horror, it’s really good. Granted, they did reveal that none of that actually happened, but it’s still a good book.

What are you reading? What are your favorite horror books? I’d love to hear them!

Happy writing!
